- In this video I try my hand out at some bushcraft, by attempting to build a raised bed. Unfortunately, I run out of time. I set up my tarp configuration, get a fire going in the rain, cook some bacon Mac and Cheese, enjoy some beers and bourbon from my banana flask.

Watching such a cheerful guy camping in gloomy conditions is therapy for us lol. I really appreciate you as a person. Thanks for the uploads.
I appreciate that. Comments like this really do help keep me going.
Corporals Corner, McBallen's stories,Weed in the Bush, Small plots are all my go tos, but to me & this is no BS, you are my favorite. Let me tell you why. You got heart, you make the best of every bad situation, you "police up" your camp sites , your more like my old camping buddies. You mix it up, not the same thing & your recommends of fellow you tubers so far have been entertaining. Thanks for the video. So look foward to the next one.
Dude you just made my whole night. I read that comment to my wife. She says thank you for the support 🍌🍺
@@CampingwithSamBananas Hope you & "Mrs.Bananas" have a blessed & Merry Christmas!
@@char81998 you too!
Check out Steve Wallis he’s good too 👍
@@adrianriggs3220 I am subscribed to Steve as well, thanks & Merry Christmas!
you appear to present a much more genuine experience than many of the other people in this genre. Good job!
Wow, thank you! I try my best to show a genuine experience, leave in mistakes, etc. I appreciate that, it means a lot.
I agree 💯
Hi Sam! My favourite stealth camping vlogges arer:
- You.
- Kevin from Small Plots.
- Steve Wallis (big surprise)
And a fourth favourite (bonus):
- Billy from Offcamping (English mate).
Keep up your great channel, Sam. You have everything needed to reach more and more subscribers.
Wow that is really nice of you, I appreciate that so much. I watch a lot of Billy's videos. He's awesome. Thank you so much for watching, I've got more coming!
Where is Billy
The shelter comes first, then a fire, even if the shelter isn't exactly where you want it. Gathering dry wood is essential, before it rains, then a smaller tarp to keep the wood dry as well as your pack. You can always move the shelter later if rain hasn't started. Build a fire before it rains. It's a lot easier to keep a fire going if it was started before the rain. Watch Corporals Corner. He does it right. Rain will run down that hill and drift into your sleeping area. A small trench around your tarp can help with that. Bring a small entrenching tool for that.
To answer the question at the end of this video......my favorite three are YOU Sam Bananas.....then Small Plots With Kevin.....then, The Blot Outdoors Show!!!! 👍👍👍👍
Hi PS! Blot is a riot, I tell you what mandingo.
AB Camping. (One of my favorite camping RUclipsrs)
That’s a great channel. I really like that guy and his dog.
My favourite is Simon, a bloke in the woods.
Hi Sam. Lay a log across the back, under the tarp, to hold the tarp up and also to act as a backstop. Just a thought.
It’s a great idea. I was thinking about that and then I got sidetracked, but I will definitely remember that on the next one.
Great Video
That moment when he was so pleased with his Mac and cheese made me so happy
🧀😁
1. Camping with Steve 2. Corporals Corner 3 Sam Bananas ...I have watched everyone of all three and Small plots with Kevin..
Hi Sam! My fav campers:
Joe Robinet
Steve Wallis
Kevin
You
Xander Budnick
From time to time: Nagualero
But you and Kevin are starters and Joe is a veteran so...good luck with your channel and keep them coming!
Thank you so much! I’m a big fan of all of those people on your list
@What are Bankers so afraid of OK, Mr. Hater. Now here's news flash for you. Joe loves his family and his dog. And according to doctors, anyone who drinks a glass of wine a day is an alcoholic. So.... welcome to the club. Now here's a question for you Mr. I shit my pants. When is the last time when you raise your fat ass off the couch and went into the wild to camp??
I love Joe Robinet and Steve Wallis.
Favorite you tubers.. camping with Sam bananas camping with Steve, Steve Wallis of course, small plots with Kevin. I also like the Steve Wallis STEP2 channel.
Dome Life, Matthew Posa and MAV and I never miss a Thursday with Camping with Steve!
Foresty Forest is a don’t miss too 🤓
all very good channels. Foresty is probably tied for my favorite along with Xander Budnick. RIP to Steve's Beautiful Wife.
I am rerun mode again Sammy! My life sucks, and I am stressed out of my mind!!! But, your videos are medicine for my weary soul! Keep me in your prayers man! I know this thanks donation isn't much.....but, it's my ultimate gratitude on display Sammy! I send my best vibes to you and Mrs Bananas! I heard Kevin had a mishap on his last video.....I am praying for him to heal-up quickly so I can enjoy more videos from him as well! 👍😉😃
Hey bud thank you so much, it's very much appreciated! I've been texting with Kevin, he's healing up nicely. Already working on the next adventure. Planning for this fall.
I have been binge-watching your videos for the past couple weeks, and I've gotta say... Sam Bananas, you are one fun, likeable, cool, and interesting guy to watch. So happy that RUclips recommended you to me because you are fast becoming one of my favorites in this camping/bushcraft niche. We gotta get you to 100k... fast!
As for your question regarding favorite RUclipsrs in this space...
1. Steve Wallis - He truly is something special, but we already knew that, right? God protect this man at all costs!
2. Kent Survival - An excellent woodsman out of the UK. Very relaxing videos. A true pro at the craft. Love this dude.
3. Xander Budnick - Love this dude and his brother, Max. Stellar videos.
Honorable mention to Kusk Bushscraft! That kid is amazing!
Sam, I have no doubt that you'll be in my top 3 before long. I'm pretty much addicted to your channel right now. Love you and that good ole banana flask!
I love all 4 of those channels! Thank you for watching 🙏
I love going camping that time of year. Great episode
Thanks!
I love watching TOGR with Luke .He’s in North Carolina and that’s where I live.
Great channel
I really enjoy when channels change it up a bit. I like watching this channel a lot because you stealth camp, regular camp, bring along your dog sometimes. You also have done kayaking to get to a location. I appreciate when a YT'er changes their mode of transportation. Of course I enjoy Steve Wallis, but I've recently discovered a new channel called Strange Camping with Dan that I enjoy. Thanks so much Sam for the upload buddy. I was worried you weren't going to have a good night's sleep. Glad to hear it was a decent one.
Thanks man! I appreciate you noticing that. And by the way I filmed this video and the next one (working on it now) within a week. After that trip I found Strange Camping with Dan. He’s awesome! I will shout him out soon. Thanks for watching bud.
@@CampingwithSamBananas can't wait to see it 👍
camper vibe ..... two women that make you smile and from the uk where anything goes.
I’ll check them out, thanks man!
Also I like Scotty's Gone Walk About. Love the Australian scenery.
Scotty’s awesome, I watch all of his videos
Yes! You named my top three!
Haha it’s a great list I think! Been watching Corporal and Steve for a long time. Xander is somewhat new to me, but he’s awesome.
Ps: Sam was Santa at our party this year and the kids loved him! He made a great Santa
I love Steve as well. I have been watching him since he was in the very early days living in his RV in Vancouver. I live in the same city as he does so I recognise a lot of the places he stealth camps which is really cool. I always shake my head at the things him and Crazy Neighbour get into. I had a mild panic recently when he was in that abandon mine i'm not going to lie. But I am so happy I found your channel and I love watching you.
Love Steve as well, he's a personal hero of mine
Living the van life, foresty forest, Jake McCollum (not to mention Steve Wallis of course). And thanks for the video, you have good content!
Thanks so much man! I love Steve and I watch a lot of Foresty’s videos. I’ll have to check the other two out. You might want to check out A Man A Van A Plan. I did two trips with him in the summer.
@What are Bankers so afraid of So drinking a couple beers with food makes you an alcoholic? Besides, even if he was, who doesn't have flaws?
@What are Bankers so afraid of Same to you, Happy Holidays, but how would you know that for sure?
@What are Bankers so afraid of I'm not your son.
Camping with Steave and small plots u guys rock
Thanks Brent!
Glad you’ve enjoyed your stay there. This episode is awesome! 👍
Thank you so much!!
The Outdoor Gear Review is one of my favorites. Great video, keep them coming.
Thanks Charles! I love that channel
Ok, so, top RUclips. Steve Wallace, Kent Survival, and MDM Outdoors
Number 1 favorite is Carlisle195 and Tim Robson. Number 2 is Steve Wallis. Love the video, keep them coming.
Thank you Tammy! I love Steve, I don't think I've seen the others. I'll have to check them out.
I was bushcraftng in the 60s when it was still called woodcraft. Graduated to a bivy sack in the late seventies, and eventually tents. May go back to tarp camping eventually, but I still love tents, and some years spend almost 300 nights tent camping. It's what I'm used to. i prefer it to the great indoors.Favorite youtubers: Wallis and Shawn Kelly, also Simon, a bloke in the woods. He cooks some great campfire meals, and has a resonant voice and a pleasing accent.
That’s 3 of my favorites. If like Simon, check out Kent Survival (if you haven’t already). They are buddies and team up sometimes. Really nice to hear from a veteran of the outdoors like yourself. Thank you very much for watching David. It means a lot. Cheers!
Sam Bananas can start a fire no matter how rainy it is. If fact legend has it that he even started a fire under water once.
🤣 I try my best 🔥
Thank you for cleaning up, very much appreciated.
Thanks! I do what I can 😀
Patience and perseverance...... 😀
That’s the name of the game!
Glad to see you got the serving of fruit for the day.
Woot woot! 🍺🍌
Top 3 in no particular order:
Corporal's Corner, Steve Wallis, Blackie Thomas. Sam Bananas and Small Plots are definitely in my top 5.
Haha awesome dude, thank you! CC, Steve Wallis - two of my favorites. Just a head's up, Kevin and I are getting together in a week to film two videos. So you'll get to look forward to those toward the end of July. Woot! Woot!
Hell yeah!
What I do if I want to have a fire through rain is collect 2 to 3 times the normal amount of wood I would need for my stay and make my initial fire 3 to 4 feet tall in the beginning to get a good bed of coals.. But even then you need to burn more and keep a bigger fire just to allow new wood thrown on time to dry.. Punky logs I collect and place around the fire.. These are often very saturated and don't burn well, but they hold the heat in as they smolder and add to the coals..
Absolutely, it's a great idea. I did build it big in the initial stage, but it just held up good enough for what I needed. I was asleep within 20 minutes of that last shot lol! I was whooped.
Good job cleaning up the forest.
Thanks 👍
Pocket bellows are gold!
Hell yeah! Completely changed my fire lighting. Especially in bad conditions.
@@CampingwithSamBananas we need that thank you option in the tool bar to donate for step 2s!
Steve Wallis was where I started. As a fellow Canadian he is my favourite. I’m from Ontario though. Then I would say Syntax77 and Shug Emery but you’re in my top 5. You inspired my purchase of the Eddie Bauer puffy since we have the same stature and build
That’s awesome dude! That Eddie Bauer puffy is my go to winter coat with a thermal or sweater under. I’ve watched some of Syntax. Shug is the man, love that guy.
Props to you for building an outstanding fire in the rain🔥👍🏻
Corporals Corner would be proud
Thanks John!! I hope he would. Guy’s a legend.
First time watching; going to go and catch up! Really good stuff man, keep it up. My top three, Mr. David Canterbury, a legend, Steve Wallis, and finally the grey-bearded green Baret. Two Serious guys and Steve for a light-hearted but still informative show.
That’s three very good channels. Steve is my hero. Canterbury is a legend. Grey beard less people know but he has an awesome channel.
Matthew posa AB camping and Joe Robinette of course along with Sam bananas. Appreciate you picking up the litter even though it was not yours that's awesome, 👍💯
Thanks man! I try to do my best with that. And those are 3 channels I can definitely get behind

That place looks so much better now that you were there. Why can't people just pick up after themselves? It's horrible. Thank you for everything you do. You're Awesome.
So my favorite RUclipsr, well, I can't decide. My list can't be cut down I have 5. I have others that I like a lot that would be on my list of 10, but here is my list of 5;
1, Basecamp Chris;
2,The Outdoors MeGee;
3, Small Plots with Kevin;
4,Camping with Sam 🍌 Bananas;
5, Steve Wallace.

Such a great list!
@CampingwithSamBananas thank you 😊 they are in no particular order. I was just throwing them out there. Lol
Stay awesome, Sam. You really do have one of the best channels on RUclips.
You did a great job of starting and maintaining a fire in the rain. Definitely not easy.
Thank you! Just takes a bit of patience. Those fire starters were a huge help too.
Kent’s survival, Andy from 🇬🇧 is fantastic ❤️ crazy quad camping is also a good one just because like you they are really nice guys doing what they genuinely love to do!
Appreciate it! I love both those channels
Love your videos too.
Wow the Adventure.

Good season for camping
It is!
Solo camping, really cool
Thanks!
I don’t even know if i could narrow it down to 3 favorites. I like all the main ones of course, some lesser known ones i enjoy are SQWIB and Tango Kilo Sierra. You and Kevin from Small Plots are awesome. You both make me want to film some camping adventures and see how it turns out
I’m watching a stealth camp from SQWIB, hahaha he curses like a sailor LOL! He’s great. Never watched Tango, I’ll give him a try. And dude if you’re hearts in it, you should go for it!
Huge fan of “The Outdoors Megee”
Fantastic channel
Foresty Forest and Bushman and Blue.
I love Foresty!
I found your RUclips video not long ago and I love your camping videos ! It’s great ! Thanks !
Awesome friend, really glad you’re enjoying it.
Another great video Sam. I always learn something watching your videos and I thank you for that. As for other you tubers I watch, I enjoy Steve Wallis, Foresty Forest and Survival Theory. Stay dry!
Thanks William! Always nice to see you bud. I know Steve and Foresty. Not sure if I’ve watched Survival Theory. I’ll check him out.
I see birch trees behind you I believe? The underside of birch bark is amazing for starting the fire. Cut a 6”x 6”. Strip… scrape the back side of the bark into the center (contains sap) and use the ferro rod to ignite. It will burn for a while. Birch bark can also be used for food when in a life threatening situation. 😊
Yep birch is awesome
I like MCM Outdoors, Xander and Lost Lakes. Thanks for the video!
Xander and Lost Lakes are two channel where I never miss an episode. I’ve watched MCM Outdoors, that’s a cool channel too
Enjoyed the video Sam. You still have fun even when the weather is terrible.
Scotty’s gone Walkabout is a bit of a legend in Aus. Amazing locations and brilliant production.
Thank you!!! And oh man I love Scotty. Been watching him for quite some time. He’s awesome. In Australia I also like Miller Wilson and Field Days.
When the rain just won't let your fire live!! Been there man! Way to stick it out in the face of just crap weather! Makes me want to get out again. Thanks for doing it brother!
Thanks so much man! Camping in the rain is always an adventure.

Wow… Just found your channel. Thanks for keeping it real.
Thanks Robert! I do my best brother 🍺🍌
Nice video Sam. I like the ones where you are prepping for the elements.
Glad you liked it bud!
Hi Sam. Love watching your videos. I started out watching Steve back in 2018, and got hooked. Then, about a month ago a commenter on his channel said he liked Small Plots, so I headed over to Kevin's channel. Then.... um.... here I am.
Also, enjoy bushradical. He's more of a cabin builder, and mechanic, than a camper. His wife has a channel called "girl in the woods."
- parks worker living here in Miami, FL. Bless
Thanks so much man! I actually know Girl in the Woods but no Bushradical. Steve is my hero and I’m a big fan of Kevin at Small Plots. I appreciate you watching and you can look forward to another adventure with me and Kevin this summer.
Actually had to sit and think about my favorite camping YTers haha. I've gotta go with You of course, Steve Wallis, Joe Robinet, Field Days, and Outdoors MeGee. There are so many it's hard haha. I See a lot of Small Plots in the comments here, that's really amazing to see! Anyway, another awesome one, man! You're the master of dope chill spots in the rain.
Dude I gotta check this Outdoor McGee out, people keep mentioning him! And man I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see them shout you out in the comments. We’ve got a lot of crossover fans for sure dude!
Always enjoy your videos. I am having the same issue with re hanging a camp hatchet. So I am buying a handle that is a little to large/thick and shaving/sanding it down to fit. Favorite RUclipsrs right now are you, Steve Wallis, and Basecamp Chris.
Thanks for watching! I love Steve of course. I just found Basecamp Chris the other day, great stuff. But man that’s a great idea for the hatchet, I might have to try that.
I too am searching for hatchet handles for three antiques and they are not available and all three are different types
My favorite. Corporals Corner, Super Trucker Dan, Girl in the woods and Mixup78.
Great channels!
I love Steve Wallis Also Xander
First time seeing your channel... nice job staying dry! Nothing wrong with a couple cold beers and a swig or two of brown. Kinda sucks making videos in the rain, especially tarp camping because of the lack of light and the sound of rain hitting the tarp but you did a great job!!! The video was easy to watch and fun.... I try to remind folks in my videos that it’s all about the fun. Gotta have fun 😁... I’ll subscribe, so I don’t miss the next one! 🍺👍🏻
Dude thank you very much, that really means a lot. Filming/camping in the rain is a challenge but of course very rewarding. Much love brother, I was born and raised in Charleston.
@@CampingwithSamBananas Cool... I’m in the “Upstate”... but enjoy going down there a couple times a year. Checked out a couple other vids...... Stealth camping is fun. Leaving the car behind is the challenge 🤣. Just saw a “Bushcraft” video popped up... that’s the kind of stuff I do. Looking forward to checking that out! 👍🏻
Sam in full beast mode! That was awesome! My favorite is the late Stobe the Hobo
Thanks man! I definitely tried hard in this one. I’ll have to check out Stobe.
Love your honest and down to earth videos. I like Luke with Outdoor Gear Review and paul Meissner
Thanks John! Those are two fantastic channels
Shug is my top pick! Nice video, thanks for posting 🏕
Thank you! I love Shug, he’s the man
My favs are lonewolf 902, corporals corner, woods walker 1965, and the ever missed sad to say, mega woodswalker Kevin was and still is one of my favorites.

I love camping content. For me I have a lot of favorites:
The Lazy Camper - kind of a new channel but he is a great filmmaker and very funny
Xander Budnick - great content, good mix of camping and visuals
Camping with Steve - what's not to love
Steve and Xander are two of my heroes. I just found out about lazy camper, his channel is great as well.

Wow, my favorite ones are: Camping with Sam Bananas; Camping with Steve Wallis; BigstackD; Scrap Farm; Okie Scrapper; Scrap and Pallet man; Me Ancient and Joe DIY
I like a little diversity: stealth camping, melting Scrap metal into something new; and just plain "drive around the neighborhood and pickup metal". And videos on military MRE rations.

@@CampingwithSamBananas I saw your one video where you were drinking a Yuengling. I thought maybe you were familiar with the area. Great attractions around here, Gettysburg Battlefield. Lancaster County Amish. Great hiking rail trails. Hopefully you will stealth camp down here someday.

Steve WLlis, Slim Potatohead, you and Small Plots
No big deal, getting wet comes with camping.sometimes it unavoidable. Nice video dude.👍
Haha yep, it part of the fun!
Great trip and you manage to stay dry 👍
Glad you liked it Glenn!
How did I forget Shugemery and Foresty Forest. So many good channels. Matt’s Off-road Recovery and Fabrats also really good.
I love Shug and Foresty! Never heard of the other but I’m making a list from everyone’s comments.
Loving the videos more and more with each one. It’s sad you have to clean up after others every time you go out. I snowmobiled for years, until an injury put the brakes on that, and we had a saying… “Pack it in. Pack it out.” I wish everyone would follow that. Makes it harder for those of us who are responsible when we go out.
Yes dude absolutely! And sorry to hear about your accident bud
@@CampingwithSamBananas No worries. It only slowed me down a little. I just really hate people who drop it where ever it lands and walk away. One year, we went out and did a trail clean up at the end of the season. We made the local snowmobile club about $350 on all the empty beer and pop cans we picked up ($.10 deposit per container in Michigan).
Gotta vote for this channel since you're my dude but Outdoor Boys is cool. They always go on cool adventures. The guy is nerdy as all hell, but definitely knows what he is doing. He was a defense lawyer before going full time youtuber. I also watch Steve Wallis and corporals corner and Lost Lakes
This is Randy btw, just signed into my computer at work
That's 4 really good channels!
Favorite channel is Coalcracker Bushcraft b/c my kids like watching it too. I also loved Taromovies, but he doesn't post as often as he used to. Simon a Bloke in The Woods is a definitely good too. I love Steve, Foresty, & Corporal AF too like everyone else.
Dude those are all fantastic channels. I wish Coalcracker threw a trip in once in a while. It's all tips. Fantastic, creative tips, but I wouldn't mind seeing him on a trip once in a while. He's got a fun personality.
