The late Jason David Frank said one of his role models was Jean Claude Van Damme and what's funny enough that in the end he got into a small altercation with JCVD for taking without his consent his trailer or something. Also they are born in the same starsign Libra. What I'm trying to say is MJW respects Bruce Lee so much that he is trying to surpass him somehow!
Michael Jai better watch that dude around his wife he's no friend ..no two ways you dont talk all that and then have to clarify like a big brother ..bullshit were all guys here this dude's bullshit ..his stories are bullshit he's a braggart and a loud mouth
This is ridiculous Mike is entitled to express his opinion just like you are entitled to express yours so no need to bash him. This is straight bashing another man’s character. Mike has every right and reason to express his thoughts about his ability compared to Bruce Lee. He did not trash or bash Bruce but simply stated his opinion. That is not disrespecting Bruce. Best to always respect others. Mike is right! There aren’t too many of us with this Art in Hollywood so why kill each others opportunity. You are putting Mike on blast. Sounds like is man is really hurt and jealous of Mike.
BS 👍👀😹💗🎉
Do something on Billy Blanks! Steven Segal is solid! In films! And He been doing Akido forever. What does the masters say about Akido??? They Do be brutal in Segal comments! But it ba a lot of views and comments. They call it Bullshido! Say he destroys buffets! He is a legend! Now he is training Russian Military! They should have appreciated his craft. Now they will be facing it?
A lot of people don't realize Michael Jai White was in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 movie as well. He was with the group of teens that were being inlisted into the foot clan.
I gotta check that out, that’s one of my favorite movies

And according to his brother, who was an engineering classmate of mine, MJW also performed some of the stunts for the Turtle fight scenes.
He said you can tell it's his brother when the Turtle is bulkier.
No one can tell another person to not speak how they honestly feel.
Exactly 💯
We cant but we do have the right to speak on it same as he did .
Of course, you can! You just did by saying this. The key is that anybody being told that s* doesn't need to listen.
MJW is a phony POS I'm telling you he was good as spawn but he went downhill like seagal sad
I was mad when I saw him in MMA tournament and they have him as a speaker and they asking him how can you survive in an MMA fight FOH asking him who never was in a MMA fight
People have forgotten about somebody a man who was in Enter the Dragon. He has passed but he respected Bruce Lee. From what I saw Jim Kelly was pretty good and doesn't get the respect he deserves. I thought somebody would remember him especially this man.
I'm glad you mentioned him weird how no one mentions him
Kelly blocked his attacks and laughed, ' I heard '
Jim Kelly was very good but I believe that the movies didn't totally do him justice. They should have done more to showcase his raw power.
@@craigezell4261 the first time I saw Jim Kelly was in a movie called Melinda!
Along with Chuck Norris, he was one of the first American martial arts stars.
Mike tyson would always say he wouldn't have a chance against Ali whenever reporter's asked who'd win outve those 2 . He would always give him the biggest praises he could
Clearly, Tyson had more respect for Ali than MJW's respect for Bruce Lee. But then again he's probably just being honest.
Just because you respect somebody doesn’t mean you have to downplay your own abilities
@@one_above_all_yt5157 right or lie to please someone
Well maybe because he believes that he wouldn't have beat Ali in his prime? Mjw has a right to his opinion. I agree with him. Size matters lol
Tyson in his prime could not put a glove at Ali of 60-67.post exile Ali is another story.

I heard Scott killed it with his character in John Wick 4. Can't wait to see it.
He did, it was sick. Marko Zaror was awesome too
Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror stole the movie. I went with friends that weren't familiar with Marko, and the first thing they said when they got out was that he was the most terrifying opponent in the whole movie.
Hell yeah he did.
It's at the theaters here in SC now, can't wait to see it!
It’s incredible
Bruce Lee comments aside. MJW added Scott Adkins (who is fantastic) to the Undisputed movie series. Both of them are incredible and not given enough movie parts. Blood and Bone is still my favorite MJW movie. I'll never forget when he kicked the crap out of Van Damme in Universal Soldier. That kick that knocked JVD through the glass was incredible. I was like "Who is that guy!?!?"
There is another martial actor who looks like Scott Adkins.
It's amazing how someone can take a scenario sooo seriously. At the end of the day it's always your own people that tear you down when your trying to self motivate and be positive.
Don't surprise me coming from Suge Knight😅🤣😂
Word.
It's cuz he talks shit but won't back it up. An MMA fighter challenged him and his big ass mouth and he was scared.
He doesn't want to get his ass kicked by a real fighter.
1000%
That only applies to black ppl though. That's the problem.
15:40 I think Michael Jai White's lack of "soul" is what makes him intresting to watch on screen. His strikes are precise, accurate. His form is as strong as an Olympic kataka. On film, his strikes look extremely strong. From his posture, to his stance, Micheal's screen presence personifies power. Micheal is what you would get if the Terminator knew martial arts.
Very well said
MJW was a Terminator with martial arts abilities.....it was called a Universal Soldier. Lol
You apparently he haven't seen universal soldier 2😂
True that robot aspect does makes him different. I think tho someone like Bruce.. his charisma his movements all the way down to his high pitched Kia was like music. It was something so special that people tried to emulate it, but it was his. It’s like how everybody tried to emulate Michael Jordan after he came out. They started dressing like him cutting their head bald trying to play like him because the fluidity of the soul the personality you gravitated to. That same thing with Bruce was with Michael Jordan. Bruce was MJ before MJ. MJW,has more personality and more character when he’s playing a role not connected to martial arts (cuz he’s a damn good actor). But guys like Wesley Snipes, Jean-Claude Van Damme Hell, even Steven Seagal, had their personalities attached to their styles.
He beat Kimbo and the others in the prison before even he looked at them, before removing his shirt. Just with his presence.
People gotta understand that just because a person inspired a lot of people doesnt mean they inspired everyone...
Very true
Facts
But without Bruce Lee there is no Michael Jai White. Just like in wrestling without hulk Hogan there is no The Rock. Just like in football without scrambling quarterback like Mike Vick there is no lamar Jackson.
@@JjHaving that's not true... Just because they did it first doesn't mean they inspired others who has a dream and aspirations to be a certain type of human... The rock dad wrestled as well..
True but do not speak on the dead in martial arts. I grew up training and was not a Bruce fan but definitely researched him later and became impressed. He was a real fighter. Now Bruce did not influence my journey but Bruce would fight anyone. The man is dead its against martial arts protocol to speak on beating someone you have never net and who would actually fight you if you challenged him. It is a weak feminine move by Mike to me. But to each is own. I expected a lot better out of him. It is ok he feels he could win but i would say i do not know who would win but i am confident against anyone. Leave it there.
Calls him a punk on Twitter but not in real life 😂😂😂 definitely the smartest thing he's probably ever done😂😂😂😂

Yeah thats shit sounds sweet but only in relation to someone with nothing to lose. He could've called him a punk to his face and nothing would've happened.

@@minervainri2 according to him
He probably did. But why would MJW even waste time on him? He's clearly bitter because he didn't get any work from him. And it's probably because of his attitude. He comes off like a dick that thinks his shit don't stink. So MJW probably felt that way too. Nobody wants to work with a guy like that. He's not respectful at all. Because even if he did say it to MJW why you on the internet talking about something personal between you 2? It just makes you look worse. And who is gonna wanna work with you after seeing that? Playing ping pong with nunchucks is worthy of a Marvel film. Bruce Lee was next level.

This whole argument about respect and being nice is silly. Bruce Lee actually had the same demeanor as MJW, he believed he was the best, and he didn't change just to please anybody.

I have nothing but respect for this man. He's very much down to earth. This was another great interview. Thanks!
MJW is just honest, and some people can’t handle it. Or listen to what he’s saying without taking it out of context.
But why talk about Bruce Lee like that though? The man is dead, he's been dead, like what do you have to prove against a famous dead guy? I love MJW but he looks like he's just reaching for attention at this point, which he doesn't need to do because he's already world famous himself and his fans love him because he makes great movies, so I don't get why he's got to make these claims, maybe he can beat Bruce Lee in a fight but we'll never know because Bruce Lee is dead, so what exactly is the point??
@@cyborgchicken3502 MJW was asked a question and he answered it honestly. He didn’t mystify or glorify Bruce Lee like most of his fans seem to do. @Axel Stone He was asked a question, he answered. Time to move on.
You dont know that man stfu
I’m Bruce Lees own words.. “Take no thought of who’s right or wrong, be not for or against.” Let the dead be in peace. Bruce Lee lives in the heart of millions, because of his charisma, his talks, he brilliance behind the camera, he writings, his dedication to self mastery. In my honest opinion he was the last true martial artist. Because what we know as a martial artist now is guy who fights for a living, to try to be the best or the strongest and so on, but he tried to beat himself on all planes, he pushed his limits physically & mentally, and he thought people that the human body alone is more important than any established system or principle, he didn’t believe in forms, sadly people even turned his own philosophy into a from, a style, which he would hate now. But that’s just how stupid human beings are, they always label things, and thus everything they touch crystallizes. But Bruce Lee thought that there shouldn’t be no form or crystallization, everything is moving, everything is fluidity. And honestly to think of these things during a time like that is just amazing, and that alone should give you a thought of how amazing this man was. Not only in martial art, even in body building and much more. I think he was universal man, like da Vinci and such. But we have people who are killing themselves for money and to earn glory and boost their egos of becoming the best “fighter”. They’re put in these cages like animals for entertainment and are owned by organization such as ufc, One Championship and so on. Most of them are illiterate, hateful, drunk, doing drugs, saying hateful stuff to each others just to sell, is this what you call a martial artist? Please put some respect on Bruce Lees name. Bruce Lee transcended martial art in many ways, he was one of the first to integrate fighting mitts into training, he advices full contact sparring, he integrated cardio into his trainings as a martial artist, all the stuff they’re doing right now? He did it back then, for a young kid to even have the confidence and balls to go and do these seminars in front of professionals and teach them a thing or two is beyond amazing, absolutely incredible, to this day people who saw him, knew he was the best, the things he talked about then they had never heard before, and that is why some people hate him, because this young kid broke all their illusions, and they couldn’t understand what was happening. But the real ones who saw him talk well of him, and they knew even though he didn’t fight as in a sport, that he was something out of this world, because they all trained with and under him and they all sensed it. He is like mythological hero, like Achilles and so on, he will be remembered forever, because he showed us that there’s a certain potential laying dormant deep within us and that we too can awaken it and become extraordinary beings, which we are, just dumbed down by society, broken, castrated, weakened like tamed animals, go back to your instinct. Bruce Lee was the last true Martial Artist, peace, take care of yourselves guys!.
First of all, Bruce Lee constructed Jeet Kung Do for the sake of street fighting, not for competition or movies. But he only used movies to showcase that style.
R. Marcus Taylor was spot on. I just noticed that MJW fights like he's actually fighting someone. No facial expression, calm demeanor. Kind of looking loose and lazy, which is good when you're actually fighting but back in the old school, you'll see Bruce Lee, Van Dam, Jackie Chan, and others have that "Spirit". As in, the audience can feel that energy they are projecting by their attitude in their face, their head movement, neck position, etc...
Spot on
I prefer MJW style because of how zoned in he looks when he fights. It's not theatrical. It's more like the Indonesian and Thai movie style. Just a beatdown. No theatrics needed.
Expect immediate animosity when telling the truth.
God bless MJW. 🙏🏿
Just as much heat that he gives Bruce. He has lots of Vlad interviews. Giving him his props.

I like what he said about Wesley Snipes and Bruce Lee having soul in their style. I like how he breaks down the different martial arts action stars like Richard Norton, Wesley Snipes, Cynthia Rothrock and Samo Hong; and their styles on screen and what separates them and makes them unique.

I'm so happy to hear Sasha Mitchell's name in the conversation.
Really enjoyed this interview.
To be fair to MJW, he actually did apologise for what he said about Bruce Lee. I saw it in one of his interviews on YT.
Essentially he said he shouldn't have talked like that about Bruce because he inspired many people to become martial artist, including himself.
I personally didn't find what MJW said that offensive. Difference in size matters in a real fight. Maybe he could beat Bruce, maybe he couldn't, we will never know. Though Bruce Lee is no doubt a legend, people should stop pretending like he was a demigod, who could beat everyone.
Size matters to an extent. It doesn't guarantee victory. What if the smaller guy is faster, hits the bigger guy in the right spot, is stronger than his size let's on, etc.? Plenty of people have stories about being surprised to see a bigger guy lose a fight to a smaller one. Hell, I'm 5'8 and I've beaten guys taller and heftier than myself! And let's not pretend there's not older, smaller, more accomplished Martial Artists in the world that would beat Jai White
@@darrenkey207
Absolutely. We are on the same page in that regard
But if I remember correctly Michael Jai main argument for being able to beat Bruce was primarily because of his smaller size but there was purpose to Bruce physique far more than just muscular definition..Bruce was very strong...there's people like heavy weight martial arts champion Joe Lewis who Said Bruce hit as hard as a heavyweight and Jim Kelly who saw Bruce sparring with and beating fighters no matter their size
I agree, Bruce Lee was the Man, period. Everyone in my Generation, saw Bruce in his prime. Nobody should never say anything negative about Bruce Lee. He's the reason why Martial Arts got recognized. He is the reason why Martial Art Movies became mainstream. He is for Martial Arts what Mohammed Ali is for Profesional Boxing. He's the Man, period.
As a fan myself, I don't think so, if someone has a different view let's hear it....Bruce is not untouchable just cause he died. Donnie Yen felt fear when filming with Mike Tyson and if you don't reconsider your choices after seeing the speed of MJW then what happens happens. Another thing, if MJW says Bruce wasn't a fighter...look into it find out why he would say that before you get offended.
Learn when someone does not want to do something and stop expecting someone to do something for you no matter how great you think it would be. You'll end up looking and sounding Jaded like this guy no matter how you try to seem unbiased.
Respect to this brother. I watched one of the Vlad interviews and really didn't know how to take him, but this interview made me look him up and he is legit. He's actually in better shape now than in the older videos and fights I watched. He also has great speed and technique for a guy his size. Hell, he would be just as impressive if he was a hundred pounds lighter. I also saw him in Straight Outta Compton and Step Up High Water and the brother can act. I would love to see Marcus and Michael in a Creed 3-style martial arts movie. A martial art film about two young fighters that were like brothers but one falls victim to the streets while the other has to watch his friend raise to heights he never got a chance to and they find themselves on the opposite side of the ring fighting for each other's respect. It would be epic.
Respect to brother Marcus and brother Michael and I hope you guys get a chance to give us a great martial arts film in the future.
Thing is ... Michael Jai White is an actor. He has to make people believe he is a true martial artist. Then also , Quentin Tarantino also thought of Bruce Lee as a loud mouth .. this was done after the fact , so we will never know. To even bring that up is kind of petty. But, that is his opinion.
@big_dinero7942 Michael Jai White is not a fighter. He is a talented martial artist but not a fighter. Bruce at least won a boxing tournament
Exceptional interview, David. There was some excellent points made here, especially about respect and humility.
Great interview
Eventually many of your hero's will fail you. This is why I try to be my own hero.
My life philosophy is to act as if your are a characters in a movie or a book. You may not be the main character but you are important. You should act in a way that you are a memorable character that improves the story.
Bruce Lee is a real martial artist, like Rocky Balboa is a real boxer. People expect MJW, who has spent his entire life working hard and training martial arts, to say that a martial arts actor is better than him.
That would be like expecting Mike Tyson to bow down to Rocky Balboa, and say that he's better than him.
Don't ask real people, real questions if you don't want real answers

MJW is just brutally honest....period. If u agree or not doesn't change the fact of who MJW has done on and off the screen or for the martial arts community.
"F yo feeling" is how men need to be. That pandering to have everyone like you is for females.
MJW is not a fighter. That ‘code’ Marcus talks about is a real thing. If you’re a student, but you also have real-world fighting experience, even in something as unorthodox as boxing, you know the reality of violence, and you could never think of your elders in relation to it. You’d never even conceptualize placing hands on one of them. Michael I’d bet has never been in any real fights, ever; because of his size and skill, dudes probably avoided fighting him his whole life. So he has a whole bunch of semi-justified ego, but has probably never been hit in the head too much, which is another skill entirely. Dude went upside his own head talking about beating mike tyson recently. He’s completely lost his shit. Prime Tyson would dislodge his brain from his spine in a no holds-barred match. I have cousin just like him actually. He’s bigger than I am by maybe 50 pounds but is just as quick, and has never been in many fights for exactly the same reason; dues just don’t approach him. And has the same complex. It’s like he’s a keyboard warrior but in the martial arts realm.
@@elmatasesues3630 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thanks you he competed in a karate tournament at 17 thats it but your 100% correct
@@Anthonygarcia-dr7oi and you think that’s the only tournament that he competed in. With all his experience over the years. He’s studied multiple martial art styles.
@Cornelius Toombs exactly
Great stuff, once again! Thank you, Viking Samurai!
In regards to the comment about soul/style. Jai White reminds me of a non Asian trying to act like a traditional Kung Fu villain regardless of the role. I say that with full respect & from my perspective. Definitely in the top 10 best action guys
Actually martial arts comes from African
@@emergeNvr I think China would disagree. Since you claim such, any examples?
@@b.msabol8551 nope google Bruce Lee saying it
@@emergeNvr Bruce saying or not saying something doesn't explain lack of evidence. Are there any African books on martial arts accessable? Artwork or philosophy would help too. If you have legitimate sources I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to learn more. But saying "google it" doesn't mean a thing.
@@b.msabol8551 if that makes you feel better 👏
What he meant by Bruce Lee is that he was not a professional fighter. He knew how to fight obviously but was never ring tested
they should do another "Undisputed " with him and micheal
I see an exponential growth in the subs you getting VS💯 you deserve all and more subs cause you are one of if not the hardest working dude on RUclips with what you put in to the channel 💯💯💯
I appreciate that
@@VikingSamurai 🙏
Love that dude spoke his mind! Like he said he's not bashing. Just speaking his truth. I love MJW like everyone else and it's hard to hear that the people you look up have flaws!! Yet they do! I think giving this man an opportunity with him would've been great. Now the agent saying everytime someone calls my phone and MJW picks up was weird!!!
Oh so because MJW isn’t as revered as Bruce Lee than he’s not allowed to speak his mind… Why is it hard to accept that your idols have flaws when they’re just as much human as you are… Where the gas 🤦🏽♂️
The thing is he’s taken in account that MJW was asked about Bruce it’s not like he brought him up
Can’t forget the black panther vs Killmonger 🍿 movie. Two black actors fight was epic and just as exciting as Spider-Man fight
Bruce Lee was undoubtably the biggest impact on me and my love of martial arts. He had an unmatched style and was way ahead of his time in some of his concepts. But what Micheal Jai says has some degree of believability. There may have been hundreds of Pro muay thai fighters or sambo fighters at the time that could of beat Bruce Lee. And who knows who would win between MJW and Lee. best proven fighters today are not unbeatable or above critiscism but bruce is? He is a deserved and unique lengend but dont get hollywood and reality mixed up.
when you consider that Bruce had 1 confirmed fight as an adult the idea that he is unbeatable is crazy.
As his daughter Shannon said I’m paraphrasing a little. “Its Bruce Lee’s philosophy that keeps him in our hearts !
@@cuzz63 No one said he was unbeatable, just legendary. LOL.We're still talking about him till this day and so will future generations, then generation onward. 7 yrs from now,no one will remember Jai White.
@@powerbadpowerbad there are people claiming that Bruce was unbeatable...look around. The myth has overshadowed the legend. The only reason MJW said what he said was because idiots think Bruce Lee was an elite fighter.
@@cuzz63 and who the hell has MJW fought 🤔😕
It's well documented Bruce Lee defeated many much larger men than him that were extremely good martial artists/ fighters by their own accounts.
Jim Kelly spoke on Bruce being capable of beating martial artist no matter the size ...Bruce was alot stronger than he appears
Cap
@@jasonhearn5818 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 only in movies
@Wyxbit nah there's videos of people who actually knew and sparred with bruce speaking on his ability as a fighter
Documented by who and outside of movie acting?there are no documented bruce lee actual fights of him beating bigger skilled martial artists.wheres the documentation outside of word of mouth?documentated means with proof not stories from his fans.
I agree with R. Marcus Taylor that MJW should not had said what he said about Bruce Lee. We can all agree on that as martial arts fans. Another good interview Viking Samurai.
Why shouldn't he have, because your feelings were bothered? He's a confident and accomplished grown man, he should believe that he could untill PROVEN otherwise.
so nobody should tell the truth?
@@damedan9389 Then why did he recant his statement ???
@Dane Dan. Even if MJW could beat Bruce Lee he should not had said it. Bruce Lee paved the way for MJW. Bruce Lee "Enter The Dragon" made over $100 million back in 1972, MJW has never had a box office success film.
@@dominichill1492 I agree.In 20 more yrs,people will still be talking about Bruce Lee,Jai White ??? I doubt it.
Moral of story be careful who you befriend.Unless your willing to deal with someone getting on some podcast to talk about you 5 years later down the line.
If you don’t know. MJW is from Bridport CT. When he was there it was a straight up war zone. To this day we re-elect a mayor when ever he’s out of jail to do so.
Awesome interview. Viking, you never cease to amaze.
Seagal would beat the shit out of Rhonda lol. Smh. That’s funny.
Seagal would knock her out with the gravitational pull that he creates because he's as big as a planet😆
This dude always got something to say about MJW maybe he should challenge him to a fight
Facts.
This was great. He said a lot about MJW that I never noticed before. And Bruce Lee is always going to remembered for his acting/fighting skills/technique no matter what anyone says, period.
MJW has a habit of talking about dead martial artist and fighters negatively. He once said some things about Kimbo Slice and was challenged by former UFC fighter Mike Perry who is smaller than MJW but he never took on that challenge.
Why would he?!
Because Mike Perry is a completely lost individual who is WAY smaller than MJW. If they did fight and MJW was to win the fight u would say he should fight someone his own size. The comment section is always weird....
In truth, all those action stars have egos. Some can hide it better than others. My gripe is that why is Jai white saying things like Jean claude van damme is not a fighter when van damme is doing the same exact thing Michael Jai white is doing? In my opinion Jai White is no different from Van Damme or Seagal when it comes to their careers. It's a case of calling the kettle black. Steven Seagal is like that too, especially with Van Damme, who still holds a grudge. They all do the same thing but then call eachother out on it while the professional fighters are like "you do know we make money doing this, right?"
This man is right about michaels bruce lee statements
Great video, Viking Samurai 💪 Marcus Taylor was a great guest 👏 A very respectful man and very talented and passionate about martial arts 🥋💪 I agree with everything he said here 👍👍✌️
For me, the most pertinent thing Marcus said was at the 19:00 mark. Great interview. Thanks VS.
Andy Hug highlights! Andy was a phenomenal fighter and I never hear him get mentioned anywhere.
Hmmm...... Uh? Are you guys forgetting The last Dragon. 🤔🤨
"Now, who's the Master?"
I have to disagree with Marcus on saying that MJW doesn't have soul. MJW is so fluid with his technique. He's one of the best at it.
I totally agree with Marcus Taylor!
Great interview as always
Sir Viking, this an awesome interview. You’re on fire Brother🔥💥🚀
Glad you enjoyed it!
This dude was right about what's missing. Soul. I agree.
Hes a great fighter..but he does seem empty with No personality
Marcus made so many great points in this interview! Would love to hear from him again!!👍👍👍
