I did the same thing. I'm 5'10, I ordered a large Redwood and after about 30miles sold if for $850 (sold quick) and ordered a medium. Very happy with the medium. Love the bike I take it mountain biking and use it as a road/gravel bike. Only thing I did was upgrade the tires and pedals. Awesome review btw!
I’m 5’11” and I ride the medium. I love it. I actually kinda like the stock saddle, which is funny because a lot of people I’ve chatted with hate it. I’ve swapped out the seat post with a Whisky carbon one. Pedals obviously. Riding Vittoria Mezcal 2.35” tires, and just swapped out the wheels for Hunt Adventure Sport. The stock wheels were the worst component for me. Had a few spokes on the front that were losing tension after nearly every ride.
I am 5' 10" and 210lbs and I bought the medium Redwood. Maybe I just need to get use to it since I had been riding a Radrover electric fat bike for the last 18 months and 1700 miles. I was riding it as a normal 70lb bike not as an e-bike. The Redwood feels cramped and I feel like I am going to go over the front end. I knew I was not going to be big fan of drop down bars but figured I get use to them. I didn't like the seat much but I am going to swap it out for the one I was using on my other bike. The pedals seem cheap and I have big feet so they were not working for me. I have some large composite mountain bike flat pedals coming. I replaced the tires with some Maxxim Hookworm 2.5 inch tires since most of my riding will be road for now. I can tell that I am going to be happy with them. At 2.5" they provide some cushion but are quiet and seem to roll well. Right now I am not real happy with the brakes but I have just put the bike together and have not tried to tune the brakes, so maybe that is all that is needed. I am happy with the drive train with the few minutes that I have ridden the bike. Seems to shift well. I haven't rode enough to get a feel for the gearing. I really want this bike to work out for at least a year or two. I knew I wanted to get a "real" bike and looked at a variety of bikes. The problem is everything was out of stock. When the Redwood came in stock I took a chance and bought. It seems like many people like the bike. Hopefully I just need to dial it in for my tastes and get use to riding a different style of bike. Biking has helped me get in shape and lose over 40lbs since I have been riding. On the plus side, the bike was cheaper than many of the other bikes that I looked at, which mostly started around $1500.
I have a large, trying to get used to the drop bar. So far wrist pain, I’ve risen the stem up a bit. It may be the way I’m riding, first experience with drop bar since I was in H.S. and that was long ago
How tall are you? Weight? I'm 5'8 230lbs. And been wanting a bike I can do mud, rocks ect on but stay as cheap without worrying about the thing breaking apart. Thanks for the video
A very very long time ago, I got really tired of scraping and bruising up my knuckles so I went home (Bartlett, NH) and hack sawed the handle bars off so they were just 7 to 8 inches from the middle. Little did I know I had just invented the first mountain bike!
I'll like and subscribe. I won't take your suggestion on the size since my inseam is 34" and at 6'5" I'm always searching for the not available XL bike.
Venture Road TCS. I’ve actually gone to a wider tire as I found myself on more rocky gravel roads and trails. At the time I was doing more pavement www.amazon.com/dp/B07X64QTVB/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_5J79QAZQZQ7AK1B6KXXQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=ml2&tag=linuxbgood09-20
Great vid. I bought the Redwood and am planning a bike pack trip. Can't find a rear rack for panniers that will work without buying a seatpost mount clamp. Anyone have a suggestion? The stays on the bike are too low for many racks.
Im not sure, I planned on doing some bike packing this year but bought a van and have been so busy converting it. I havnt had time for bike packing unfortunately .
That’s a hard one to say, on their site they have the geometry listed. I found with me the inseam was the most important number. It seems Poseidon bikes run a bit big
Thanks for the video! I’m 5’5” with a 28” inseam. I measured from the top of my inner thigh to the ground without shoes. I usually go with a 26” inseam for pants. What size would you suggest for me? How much clearance do you have on the bike now?
You shouldn't have any problem selling it. It almost seems criminal what people are asking for used bikes today because of the pandemic. You are more than fair, so you shouldn't need to haggle much when it sells.
I actually decided to list it for $800 and sold it that next day. Had a bunch of people waiting in line to see it. I guess I went to cheap but a new one including shipping is 950.
You’ll love it. I have since out new tires on mine because I’ve been doing more road miles than I expected. I still need to go tubeless so I can really drop the pressure on forest roads
Thank you!!!!! I'm 5'7" and was about to buy a size small.

I’ve also upgraded the tires and pedals. I also changed out the saddle but hate the one I bought so still looking. Thanks for watching

I'm 5'10 and went with a large. I shortened the stem and use 48cm surly truck stop bars and love it.
Try a longer stem with a rise to it

I usually don’t go by the inseam (or stand over), I always look at the effective top tube. That has always been the key for me. Thanks for sharing.
I did one worst I went from my pants inseam. haha
@@trailslippah it is all good. You live and learn. Take care.

lol no you didn't.
What bike rack is that? Looks slick.
It’s an Allen’s , I picked it up on Amazon for $50.

Good thing to do if your the first one at a meet up , ride your bike around the parking lot to make sure it's running right

That’s what worked for me, good luck sizing for a bike was one of the hardest things I’ve done as far as gear goes
How tall are you that you prefer the XS?
Hey... what size tires are you running? What brand and model? The one with the tan walls

650 x 47
@@trailslippah is that on the tan walled? They seemed like 29in
I forgot my son had his Redwood that day. I’ll ask him what size but I bought what he told me so I’d assume the tires would be the same size
The tan walls are 650x47 byways
Hey... what size tires are you running? What brand and model?
So if you got the XS could you tell me how much it weighs? Thinking about getting my daughter a XXS and trying to figure out how heavy it would be.

@@trailslippah Come on up to VT if you want to try out a Small Redwood.
@@jzvtster I just sold a small and bought the Extra Small. The XS fits me great!!

@O2020 Nice!
Do you think this bike in a large would be good for me at 6'2"?

I'm just about 6'1" and a large feels pretty good.
Did you end up going with the large? I’m the same height and ordered the XL
What size is your rims , still original 27.5 or you change to 700 or 29
Nice video
Original rims

I would go with xs small, mine fits perfect with the same inseam.

I see a question about my height in the history but can’t find it here on my phone. I’m still out in the back country in the van lol. I’m 5’ 7”.
hi just wanted to ask my small came in a 52 inch seat tube length. How bout yours
@@busoptr Hopefully Gabe can help you with that, I sold mine a while ago and Im riding an XS now.
@@trailslippah yeah poseidon website lists the small as 49cm seat tube but it is actually 52cm.
