This is one of my favorite Mincho solos. Just total badass form start to finish. I never get tired of hearing this beauty. Not bad for their first song written by themselves.
Yeah, which is crazy, because it's already been really difficult for him. Looking at Just Bring It... how do you rank any of those songs against any of the other songs? Really, Moratorium vs. Puzzle, and I have to choose one being BETTER than the other? How?
It makes me wonder what else Kanami wrote that got rejected. Not good enough? It was likely too good, too heavy and too sophisticated for their label to handle. Like she sang in Warning after their departure, "So sad you just don't get it." 🤣
Me discovering Band-Maid... Step 1: All female rock group ? No Thanks. Not interested. Step 2: All female group that sings in Japanese ? Double No Thanks. Step 3: Extremely cute girls playing rock music ? OK, It wont hurt to click on the video. Step 4: Holy Shit they are talented (Video was From Now On} Step 5: On a plane to go see them play live.
@@k3w1b3an5 from now on is a heck of a way to be introduced to BM, but a quick introduction to “the gap”. The question is how can girls in maid outfits look so badass also?
Akane's drumming in this is so dynamic- just fantastic. I've incorporated a number of her more simple but great fills into my own drumming- simple yet so affective.
Assuming next is the Yolo single and it’s b-sides and then Just Bring It, you are entering a murderers row where literally 4 of next 6 or so songs are in my personal top 7, with 3 in the top 5. I call this the Yolo-Yolo bracket since starts with the Yolo single and ends with Yolo on JBI.
Hats off! Your feeling about the song is pretty good considering the importance and what a milestone this song represents in the Maids' history. 👍🏻 And also the visuals speaks volumes and fit the title perfectly with its backstory. The ladies in an empty studio without anybody messing with them, and if you look closely in the first few frames we see Saiki throwing away her microphone stand with full force, which she hasn't used since... In many ways, the beginning of a new era, po! :) _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Forever!"_ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Manners' ♬🕊
Alone was my 3rd or 4th song that I heard from them, and it was THE song that nailed my heart to BAND-MAID back in May of 2018. It’s still in my top 5, along with a lot of others😊

Wow #2 didn't see that coming but sir I respect that and am giving you an ovation. Alone is a song that has only grown for me over the years and now it's one of my faves too.
K-Ross, despite what others have commented, Alone is not the first song that Kanami/Band-Maid wrote. What's significant about Alone is that's it's the first Band-Maid song written completely without any outside collaboration to be accepted by their management to be recorded. Kanami actually submitted quite a few songs she had written, that were rejected, prior to Alone being accepted. Kanami talked about her early songs being rejected in a 2019 interview. INTERVIEWER - "At the beginning of Band-Maid, most of your songs were provided to you, but afterwards you began to write them yourself". KANAMI - "While we were receiving songs from other songwriters, I was also writing songs. I submitted them too, but as expected, it was not approved after it was compared to the work of the songwriters. There were a lot of rejections during that time, but I did my best to keep writing more songs through encouragement from Sai-Chan. She would not remember because she was drunk, but she said to me. 'Kanami, don't give up, it is better to keep writing more and more, because you have the talent.' When I heard those words, I thought, if there are people close to me who accept my music, I must do my best." For the record, the oldest Band-Maid song is YOLO, which she composed before Band-Maid even existed.
Buckle up K-Ross, the easy part of this ranking is over. Emotional pain and mental anguish are coming your way Po! Bwahahahaha!!! Great job as always man!

Thx kawaii Davey for your complete list run down. I'm agreeing with your "Freedom" being so low. It's only Akane's & Kanami's live solos that elevate what would otherwise be an average studio track by B-M's standards :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 Totally agree Gary. The album version seems quite flat by comparison to the official live. There seems something off with the mix on the album version imo.
And here. We. Go! Band-Maid, with their first entirely self-written and arranged song, comes out fully-formed and doesn't just leave behind what came before, they send it flying with all of their substantial musical might. A pretty large step up for me with the Band-Maid trademark of being lean and tight (minds out of the gutter please) yet chock full of incredible moments everywhere. Akane going nuts, Misa doing Misa things constantly, epic changes in the second verse, the incredible bridge and a solo that still ranks among Kanami's best in my opinion. This song might sound more like a "standard genre song" than most of their future work would, but Band-Maid's style, flair, and ear for making music interesting are all intact in "Alone". And they only get better from here. NEW: Alone the non-fiction days Yuragu Thrill Freezer Real Existence Shake That!! So, also a REVISED list is possible...? I smell a 8 hour stream/video at the end of this journey! 😁 And Thrill is a very important song of course, and quite good compared to most other music. But so many excellent Band-Maid songs have come after - it just gets left in the dust!
That ranking may LOOK right, but it isn't 😉. At this point in their discography, Alone is number 1 by a mile. It's Kanami mastering their sound straight out of the gate, though obviously it would evolve.
Better song technically than Thrill but doesn’t hit me as hard. Real Existence live (as said before) would be higher up the list, but studio version doesn’t compete with this. 1. Arcadia Girl 2. Freezer 3. Shake That! 4. Thrill 5. Alone 6. Real Existence 7. Forward 8. Yuragu 9. Before Yesterday 10. Non-Fiction Days 11. Price Of Pride 12. Don’t Apply the Brake 13. Bye My Tears 14. Big Dad 27. Don’t Let Me Down
The symbolism of Alone is that they are now free to compose their own music unlike The Non-Fiction Days (which I like). The length of a song has little impact on me, at least less than the meaning of its theme and its lyrics that the band wants to convey. And the riff, the energy, and the melody of Alone and all the elements added by each of the musicians make me prefer it musically to Non-Fiction Days. It's pure Band-Maid. But that's just my personal opinion. However, I respect your choice Ross.
He's going to completely lose it when he gets to "Just Bring It" and I'm so looking forward to it. But I'm still going to give him crap for ranking "Freezer" so low.
This is one of my favorite Mincho solos. Just total badass form start to finish. I never get tired of hearing this beauty. Not bad for their first song written by themselves.
Considering this is the first song they wrote, your observations about it exemplifying the BM sound was spot on.
Now is when it gets tough with them writing their own music and lyrics, things get noticeably cooler and groovier.

Like she sang in Warning after their departure, "So sad you just don't get it." 🤣
for me, this is where band‐maid becomes band‐maid. all of the elements are there.
