    I have the 2012 Liberty Sport. It's identical to the one in this video minus the sun roof. And I'm entirely happy with mine. Not to mention the fact that I'm 6'6" and 280 lbs and I have plenty of room and am very comfortable inside. The only thing I find "unimpressive and not that great" is this guy in the video.

      I see this comment was made a long time ago but worth a shot for a response. I have been looking closely at a Jeep Liberty as I am looking for a car with under 105,000 miles with 4WD/AWD as my old mustang is on its last leg, plus since I am about to graduate college I want something that can handle the weather/terrain wherever I go. I have noticed that while the professional reviews are all mixed to negative, the user reviews are all decent to mildly positive. I have a few questions, the first being, do you think the ride will be more or less stiff than my 06 Mustang GT?

    • @SanchezMotorsportsLLC
      @SanchezMotorsportsLLC 5 лет назад

      Uru Sledge... it’s hard to compare the Kk liberty to your Mustang “apples to apples” regarding suspension As they are two totally different vehicles for two totally different segments. That all being said if you’ve ever driven a jeep you will find the drive of the jeep liberty to be consistent with that of jeeps, a bit Spartan, a little less refined, a bit more noisy to the affluent or discerning client, and a bit tall/stiff. these comments are to say that the liberty is a very good and good driving vehicle. The previously mentioned qualities are endearing terms for a jeep considering what it is. Most people expect an SUV to be soft and doughie yet capable and snarling when in fact you have to find a happy medium between 4 x 4 capability and tame road driving. I find in my ownership of a liberty that I prefer the more rugged side of an sub’s drive and I absolutely adore what my liberty offers me. Having previously owned a 1999 Jeep grand Cherokee and now driving the liberty I appreciate the stoutness and compactness that comes in the liberty coupled with the unparallel poor weather or snowy driving condition capabilities that the liberty affords. Although the negative Nancy guy in the video has a point about the four-speed transmission being outdated, it’s relatively unnoticeable unless you are in stop and go or constantly merging traffic.

      Reliability is not good. Spend 2K a year average just in repairs. Get a Toyota.
      I will say this much: never got stuck in the snow, or mud. And low flood water was no issue what so ever. Climbing any dirt hill wasn’t an issue either and I was had no fear of going anywhere because the car was capable of handling allot of environments. Just expect to pay allot to play owning the vehicle. Allot of repairs. Always something to fix.

  • @meestabeck

    This reviewer is going about the Liberty all wrong. Its a very utilitarian off-road vehicle that can serve multiple purposes to its owner.
    He is testing one of the highest trim levels (The Jet if I am not mistaken) and like most car companies, the highest trim level is greatly more expensive (and in this case, has 19" wheels).
    My 2011 Liberty Sport was $22k out the door with Zero options except for the Factory Tow Package. I bought it because winters in the Pacific Northwest can be quite bad, because Spokane has some good off road trails, because I wanted to be able to tow a boat (5,000 lbs capacity), and still have the headroom for my 6'5" dad to ride with me. The Liberty hit all of those points right on the head.
    Yes, the transmission is outdated, and a 5 or 6 speed would have been better. But the 4 speed works fine.
    Yes, the 3.7 is an older style motor, and the new 3.6 Pentastar is more economical. But the SOHC 3.7 gives you the torque low in the revs.
    Yes, it drives like a 4x4 on the streets. It's a freaking JEEP, if you want cushy handling, get a Pacifica or something.
    I bought this vehicle because it was $12k LESS than a 4 door Wrangler, and I have 2 young children.
    As for performance, I regularly get 22-24mpg on the highway when I am cruising at 60 mph on a level roadway. I easily pulled a 4,000lb double axle trailer for 400 miles with no issues. I have still not changed the stock Wrangler ST tires, as they work great in the snow.
    The biggest problem that I have had owning the vehicle is convincing people that it is a true off road vehicle. I have had to prove to numerous people that my Jeep is capable, simply because they have never driven one.
    The 4x4 system in this vehicle is fantastic. It is the same Command Trak system that a Wrangler has. It has both Hill Descent and Ascent controls, a great low range, and the ability to turn off the traction control. The independent front suspension really does not impede its capability, and the only thing that prevents me from following the modded Cherokees and Wranglers everywhere is ground clearance and the rubber. A friend of mine has a nicely modded 01 Cherokee (I love those rigs too BTW), and he couldn't believe that was able to keep up with him at an ORV park in a bone stock Liberty with stock tires. It wasn't until we hit a ridge spine that had too aggressive of an entry and break for my ground clearance that I had to deviate from his line.
    Bottom line, the KK Liberty is fantastic at what it was designed to do. Go everywhere, tow a lot and carry a lot of stuff with your family in a platform that is more capable and cheaper than the competition.

    • @justSTUMBLEDupon
      @justSTUMBLEDupon 3 года назад

      He mentioned off road stuff.
      If your not going off road consistently, dealing with snow, and whatnot, don’t buy it.
      There is a reason why they stopped making it

  • @almonpoole

    This is one of the best vehicles that jeep/dodge ever built. The only thing lacking in this vehicle is a six speed transmission, everything else is great. It has one of the most responsive nav systems to date, the 4x4 side of it is first class. After driving both I would rather have this than the new Cherokee Trail Hawk. If you look around you can find used 2012 4x4 Jet's for around 22k with less than 20k miles on them. It just can't be beat!

    Terrible reviewer.. This is a JEEP man, spell it and say it again and let it sink in. J E E P, JEEP! It's not a Lexus crossover. Its meant for people who want an off road vehicle that's a good every day driver, not an every day driver that can be an ok off road vehicle, get the difference? Probably not...

    it's reliable as hell (not something that can be said about all jeeps), handles great, and gets gas mileage that isn't horrible for an off road vehicle, I don't exactly disagree about his point with the 4 speed transmission, but he's not very accurate in his overall assessment of this car. Oh and personally, I think the interior is fantastic.

    I bought my jeep liberty artic 2012 for 26,000 ttl. I think it was a pretty good price. I drive it long distances with great comfort. it doesn't get good milealge. I drive it at 75 to 80 on the interstate and did a calculation and it did 19 miles to the gallon. It sticks to the road pretty well. I have not taken it off road yet but did drive in a snow storm from buffalo, ny to morris, nj and it was great. got me thru the snowy interstate feeling confident. I like it, no buyers regret

    What shit are you talking about!. Jeep Liberty 2012 is one of the best truck had ever made! It's very confortable on the road, i have plenty of head room, a lot of gadgets like the 150w power supply, the front passenger seat, that could be used as a table to put your drinks, the rear seats that can be regulated in two positions and the canvas sky slider is simple the best! It also looks fantastic. It's what a Jeep lover is looking for.. The only drawback is the fuel consumption, i think it could be better. You can't compare it with a Nissan. YOU ARE CRAZY!

    South Africa | My Mom bought this Jeep in 2011. It was a great car, the only problems we had with it were high service & maintenance and fuel bills. In all honesty we should have gotten the diesel variant. Other than that we had an awesome experience travelling around the country in comfort. This is was a Jeep for those who felt they liked the Wrangler but didn't like it for everyday use. It will literally take you ANYWHERE! I'm currently shopping around to buy myself one too.

    Jeep Libertys are really good vehicles. We bought an '07 Limited brand new and we are still loving it five years and nearly 85,000 miles down the road! Someone that's used to a larger and (status symbol) SUV like a Tahoe or Expedition isn't going to be as comfortable in the Liberty because it is smaller. My parents have had two Cherokees, an Expedition, and our current Liberty. And I have to say I'd definitely go with Jeep. Far more dependable and absolutely kicks all other 4x4s asses!!

    The Nissan Pathfinder of this generation had the same if not worse interior space, same if not worse comfort level, same gas mileage and engine performance, same off road capability. And it costs more.
    Yet you guys didn't criticize that nearly as much as this. It seems like auto reviewers suck up to anything Japanese but when it's an American car company y'all have a field day.
    It's kinda sad that you can't even be proud of your own country's engineering.

  • @ChuckRage
    @ChuckRage 5 лет назад

    I've got the 2012 one, Limited but with the 2.8L diesel and 5 speed auto, it's right hand drive, and I can confirm that most of what this reviewer says is true. I do find the vehicle to be relatively comfortable considering the solid axle at the back. It's much better on the open road and loves cruising, it's also surprisingly good off-road for what it is. Fuel consumption is not good in city driving and the transmission is just not made for start-stop traffic. Cruising is where it shines. I've also driven the petrol and manual variants and I prefer the torque of the diesel. It's relatively well refined for a diesel. There are definitely more reliable, well built and more comfortable cars out there, but as a 2nd hand buy, it was a good value proposition. I do love it though, it's got a lot of character and charm that other vehicles in this segment could never have.

    I have to say I disagree with just about everything he said with the exception of the gas mileage. I've had mine for a few years now and am totally happy with it for its off road ability. I'm 6'2", 280 pounds, size 15 shoes. Totally comfortable driving my Jeep. And as for the sky slider sun roof the articles I've read that used it in wet climates said it leaked. I have the conventional electric sun roof on my Liberty Sport Latitude and it doesn't leak at all. Plus the Latitude has leather interior which is another nice feature. I've had it in sand with no problem and snow with no problem. It also has conventional four wheel drive so you have rear wheel traction in 2 wheel drive. Granted, it is not a freeway flier but when the pavement ends is when this vehicle shines and you would be hard pressed to find a better off road vehicle.

    You spent four minutes explaining why it's not a poser. And you did it in such a way to try and make posers look preferable. You, my lost friend, are a poser.
    The Liberty is a real Utility Vehicle. It doesn't merely pretend to be one like so many others. If you're going to review something, review it for what it was designed to be. Not what it was designed not to be. Your misplaced/biased review sickens me.

    Yes, the 2012 Jeep Liberty is an awesome vehicle, and it's rugged looks are what I love best about it. As far as the rumors about them discontinuing the Liberty, it's not entirely true, they are discontinuing it for the 2013 model year, but in late Q4 of 2013, they will be releasing a 2014 Jeep Liberty based on the Dodge Dart's frame, and with a new 3.6L Pentestar engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission, yet it's form from the prototypes seen, it will look like the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder.

    I just bought a 2012 Liberty to replace my 2006 model. If you want a car-like ride in an SUV, don't buy Jeep. If you want a serious 4WD that will get you safely home in any weather and go off-road and return in one piece, then get a Jeep and you won't ever regret it. If you can find a Liberty you can probably get it for a lot less than this guy says it costs.

    I just bought a 2012 jeep liberty 4x4 with leather seats and has a sunroof and I love it. And even though I have only so far driven it around town it's a comfortable vehicle. It's a jeep what do you expect a ride like a luxury car.

  • @MrChevybaja

    Ron,are you sure that the transmission is causing that intrusion? Look at the shape. I bet its the exhaust system. Either way, yes this thing is outdated. But Surgio has announced the next liberty will be spectacular.

  • @AnthonyGuidetti
    @AnthonyGuidetti 12 лет назад

    I would have to disagree. Having driven a 2008 with the same engine and transmission used in the video, it's lackluster. The ride is bumpy, the engine can be quiet, but overall loud because it's always in the wrong gear. Handling is what's expected on a body on frame truck. But what is nice is the MyGig system with Infinity sound, skyliner, heated seats and computer system, but that's about it.

    Just found this and I am actually laughing hard watching it: we take the liberty into the dirt and especially deep sand. It might not have impressive gimmicks - but we never got stuck and are always wondering why the “fancy” other small 4x4 actually do in spots we are simply driving through without any issue. This car is primitive - but that is exactly what you need if you drive it off-road.

    Well I have a 96 Grand Cherokee (ZJ) and it has 200k+ miles on it, not a single major problem EVER. 4WD works perfect, engine runs like a champ, transmission shifts smooth. It gets proper maintenance though. It's never left me stranded, every thing works too.
    The reliability of a jeep is know to be better than Land Rover's. Just make sure you buy a Jeep that has been properly maintained, if not, it'll just be another "Land Rover" if you know what i mean.

    Ok, had mine for a little over 3-1/2 yrs. Bought new with latitude pkg. Same color as video. Everything the Reviewer said is spot-on esp that wedged in area where the tranny mounds - even with seat way back and being a thin woman, simply eating a burger/fries is a cramped unnerving experience I've never felt before as you can't stretch straight rather you're angled in. The rear seats are comfy--but the driver's is very hard and offers no lower back support for me and after only 30 mins of driving, I want out. I don't mind the old gear box and noise and love the 'Look' but unless you're heavy, this vehicle will torse you about like a puppet unless you're on very smooth payment. Also, some quirky features like the recycle cabin setting doesn't stay set. So every turn on you have to check it (stupid yellow light in sun) or when you're behind a utility truck, you'll know it popped out when car started. And everything is delayed: Your hot and want your a/c NOW not 8 seconds later and a simple push down door lock, hesitates. Not good if you're in an unsafe situation. But unlike the other uts I looked out at, none had the fabulously FLAT fold down seats, and LOTS of storage for a compact vehicle. Lastly, the steering is old rack/pinion so steering in tight areas, for me, a rather petite woman, is definitely a work-out. But the much smaller straighter windshield is terrific; Snow will slid down it and almost NO sun if you sit up close to wheel. So I really love the pros but absolutely hate the cons. Would I buy this vehicle again if I'd have a do over. NO WAY. Once I'm finished moving and settled it's good riddance. And that's why I only have 11,843 millage on it. It'll be great for someone else maybe, but no Not me.

    I have to agree and disagree. I loved my Jeep Liberty, for the most part, as it held up very well. Loved the look of it and the ruggedness. My complaints, though: poor gas mileage and the sky slider roof when closed was very NOISY at 60+ mph on the highway. Difficult to talk over the noise on long road trips. Tried using an additional rubber seal to help block off wind noise, but it didn't help much. I will always be a Jeep fan, though, as we also have a Wrangler.

    fuel economy sucks and I would appreciate a 5th gear for better fuel mileage. However, the 4wd with BLD closely mimicks lockers (while the front diff. on the x-terra is completely open) and the handling can be attributed to having a rear solid axle, meaning that this more mechanically simple design eliminates rear ball joints which tend to go in modern vehicles after 100,000 miles, making longer-term maintenance less of an issue. Vehicle deserves a little bit more positive review.

    I have a 2012 Patriot. It is heavy and gets mediocre gas mileage. On the positive side I did get T-Boned by a young lady texting on her cell phone. Positive because my jeep was not totaled and I experienced no injuries. It's a tough little car. I live in Alaska and winters are 6 to 7 months long. There is lots of snow and Ice on the roads. Just using all season radials and the 4 wheel drive (and prudent driving techniques) I have no problems at all getting from point a to b. After the "accident" the young ladies insurance paid for my jeeps repair...so still cruising around anchorage at 60 k miles. The only thing that make me nervous right now is the transmission which seems to get stuck once a year or so....lol...perhaps a tragedy in my future.

    The Jeep Liberty is the perfect toad, (to pull behind a motorhome), unlike all the other "value" recommendations. It's actually in it's element in the rain, snow, sand, and mud, and not dry asphalt. That's where you want to use this vehicle. For the daily commute it's overkill and basic, but when used properly, it's far ahead!

The reviewer is obviously a boulevard 4 wheeler - likes to look tough but never uses the capability. No doubt drives to the Sonic to be seen on Saturday night and then to the bar to drink and sing on "the road again."

    Dude, seriously! probably have a land rover discovery or something. Stop comparing! His opinion doesn't matter because he does not have a passion for cars. If you have a passion then you see the car for what it was designed for. you look at the design elements and what the designers thought when they designed it. purpose and practicality. that nissan thing looks crap. ugly mags, horrible design cues. go sell parts or somethin dude and leave the cars to us that know. I saw your so-called review before I tested the jeep for myself. tested others vehicles and bought the cherokee. don't take it out on the car if you don't like your girlfriend! Peace out!

    Dude, I don't know who paid you to talk so negative about this jeep. I got my jeep used a 15k with 75k miles. First thing I did, was i took offroading. It held up better than anything other vehicle minus other Jeeps. Its very comfortable and plenty of room down by the pedals and I'm a big guy. Id rate this vehicle at 4.5 out of 5. Yeah the horse power isn't the greatest but it holds it's own. But the Liberty (except the Renegade edition) isn't really meant to much off-roading, other than just dirt trails and anything below 4 on a scale to 10.

    Need some help. I'm looking for a new used vehicle and am deciding between this, a certified 2012 Jeep Liberty sport 4x4 /w latitude package with just under 30k miles or a certified 2012 Nissan Frontier SV with just under 41k miles. Both are very similar in price and are attractive/fit my life style and state (Colorado). I currently drive an 08 Jeep Patriot with 72k miles and am looking to upgrade/lower my miles. Vehicle will be used in snow, light off-roading (trails to get to shooting ranges, mountain hot spots, and remote camping areas) as well as carrying my stuff for shooting/camping/hiking/tough mudders/skiing. Daily drive to work is 17 miles one way mostly highway. I did some calculations and am under 11000miles/year (averaging) and payment wouldn't be high so gas economy isn't a huge deal. Thanks for the help and drive safe!

    Ok heres my 2 cents I just bought a 2012 jeep liberty, old tech? Thats why i did buy it. Because it has proven its self already. I had a 97 grand Cherokee this thing has the same feel, i agree about the foot space but i keep my feet at the peddle when i drive not 2 feet away from them. What he didnt mention is the space around the peddles. Maybe he has short legs im 6 ft and dont feel cramped. I hope to get 300k miles out of this one as i did my grand Cherokee.

    I cant stand how the Lib gets such a bad rap. He reviewed the wrong trim. The Liberty (KK) is not designed to be a luxury vehicle. It is meant to get you down the trail to your destination. You can an a 2" lift for about $200 and keep up with almost anybody. I have a 2" lift and good tire and I'd place my Liberty against any stock sahara or sport wrangler (JK). Its brake lock differential works great and if you feel you must have lockers they can also be added after market.
