- Closing arguments began on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021 in the trial of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery.
Arbery was shot and killed on Feb. 23, 2020. Cellphone video leaked to the public shows two armed white men in a truck approaching the 25-year-old Black man as he runs down the road. One of the men, later identified as Travis McMichael, and Arbery struggle over McMichael's shotgun before Arbery is shot and collapses.
Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael and William "Roddy" Bryan, who recorded the video, are all charged with murder in Arbery's death.

The people who are saying that this was self defense and that they should go free clearly didn't hear a single word of the prosecution's arguments. Yes he was there more than once, on camera, NOT TAKING ANYTHING. Just looking around, at the most, this is trespassing, but not until the OWNER of the property asks you not to return.
By their own admission they witnessed no crime at the time, they saw no weapon, he made no threats.
He spent 5 MINUTES running away, and only made an attempt to fight back when he was, in their own words "Trapped like a rat"
How is someone who made such an effort to get away, be such a threat? You don't get to chase people down with guns, when they spend so much time running away, then claim self defense when you box them in and MAKE them fight back. You're all disgusting.

Its just like the Michael Dunn case. There were many other reasonable options other than killing. The killing was completely avoidable, they had many other non lethal options. .

I agree they should be held accountable. My thinking is they choose to not pursue those blatant coverups because that would have complicated their prosecution of the defendants. Hopefully they’ll file a suit or the DOJ will investigate their corruption.
They basically didn’t discuss that. It was part of the questions in jury selection and potential jurors basically had to say they’d be impartial about the delay until GBI got involved.
One DA has been charged already. The other should. The first DA jackie Johnson passed it to the 2nd DA Barnhill knowing he would make the decision not to charge the 3 men. Legally she isn't allowed to do that. She must pass it to the GBI and they decide. She also lost her local election and was voted out!

I can't imagine the pain she has not only having her son brutally murdered but then having to fight to get those men charged. The justice system needs a massive overhaul and nothing will happen until we start voting out people in our local elections who don't care about our communities. That's how we make change! Because they were allowed to get away with it for two months and were only arrested after the national uproar.
There will be another case. The District Attorney who tried to sweep his murder under the rug was arrested and charged. Hopefully she will also be in prison soon

The defenses are the worst lawyers I ever heard or seen. So, if I'm running and someone is standing on the side if a truck and holding a f-ing shotgun while pointing it in my direction. I sure in hell I can't trust that I wouldn't be shot in the back. So, what else can a person do when they sense danger. Fight for their life. If that's all they can do.
He had already been chased by 3 men, in 2 trucks with 2 guns and one confederate flag for over 5 minutes. He was terrified and exhausted. He knew flight wasn’t an option, he’d already tried that.

She picked the wrong defense closing argument. you don't have the right (forceble use of a weapon) to pursue anyone, that is not a viable immediate defense of yourself. To make such a stupid statement about Arbery's clothing or the shoes he was wearing, which she claimed were his dirty feet???? what a dumbazz thing to say to any jury......Main thing is no crime was even committed !!!!!! Arbery stole nothing, he briefly entered a home under construction then left.........you can't kill someone walking away from a home under construction assuming he or she stole something.............in any case this is a terrible defense attorney, she failed her own clients 10000%

All Greg McMichael had was rumor and racial profiling, which can hardly be considered probable cause. He and Travis also had no legal authority to command Amhaud to do anything, let alone impede his freedom of movement. Let’s say this had gone another way and Amhaud actually did submit to them. Greg and Travis would still be arrested for aggravated assault and unlawful imprisonment and the police would probably have let Amhaud go after getting ahold of the property owner, who would have told him not to trespass again, which is a minor misdemeanor at best.
