Hi Chris, I wished I would have know this youtube channel when I was still a flight attendant ✈I have visited Singapore maybe around 60 times in those 30 years! And I have never heard of hawker centers and other food centers! With our crew we usually went to the same pubs and restaurants just outside our hotel to be able to walk back when the "man with the hammer " 😄came by after a day of 35 hours up and running! Thank you for this amazing memory of one of my most safest city to walk around in the world in the middle of the night. Ooh and when I could not sleep at night I took a taxi to stroll around in Mustafa center a 24 hour market style shopping center. The next time when I will visit Singapore I will definitely visit these great food centers! 🙏 I loved the JW Marriott South Beach hotel room and amazing view 🌟🌟

Hi Chris. Just found your channel and vlogs. Good presentation. Thank you. Also, WELCOME to Singapore!!! 😁
For your information, Chilli Sauces found in all the Hawker Centres food stalls can be of many different recipes giving very different tastes and is meant for different type of food. The Chicken Rice Chilli Sauce is actually not called "Sambal Sauce" but "Chicken Rice Chilli Sauce", and consists of "grounded/chopped/blended" Red Chilli with Garlic and Ginger mixed with Lime Juice to get that spicy/tangy sour taste. Whereas the Roast Meat Rice Dish's "Chilli Sauce" consists of Deep-Fried Chilli Paste with "grounded/chopped/blended" Dried Mini-Shrimps with added (little amount) sugar for that slight sweetness. The "Samba; Chilli Sauce" that you mentioned is basically used when eating "Nasi Lemak" (Coconut Rice) or any Indonesian/Malay/Peranakan (Strait-born Chinese) dishes, it is done with almost the same recipe as the Roast Meat Chilli sauce but with the addition of Fermented "Dried Shrimp Paste" (very salty).

One of my favorite cities, maybe my favorite as I've been to Singapore more than any other city...26 times over 20 years. Was just there in Jan, and will be going home thru SIN again in late May. JW is pricey, too cheap to stay there, but I walked thru it once.😂 This time I'm thinking about staying in Jahor Bahru and day tripping into Singapore to reduce costs. Malaysia is much more affordable. Singapore used to be cheap, 20 years ago, not any more. I stay at all the cheap Marriotts and when I have enough points I stay 5 nights at a good Marriott (4 nights on points get the 5th free). FYI the Marriotts in KL are very affordable. We did 30 nights between 5 Marriotts, many were under $100/night, but the lounges and breakfasts were fabulous. We moved around a lot because no matter how great a hotel the breakfasts and lounges get tired after about 6 days. Racking up those points...maybe I'll be able to stay at the Singapore JW one day?👍

    Welcome to Singapore!
For all foreigners, try using a spoon to eat the rice by pushing the food onto the spoon with your fork with another hand. We Asians don't eat rice shoveling with a fork, it's quite impossible as the rice grains will slip out in between the fork and you cannot clean up your plate easily with it🤣
