Amanda, I’ve been a fan for years and I get the frustration as a mom. However, I feel the need to point out that pool bylaws are super duper important. I think you mentioned earlier that your dog might have escaped from the holes in your fence? In that case, a small child could possibly squeeze through too, right? A couple of years ago, a 6-year-old boy with Autism in my neighborhood escaped from his home, and tragically, ended up drowning in a neighbor’s pool at night when nobody could see him. We know that NOBODY wants this. This is probably why they’re so strict with pools. I agree that the neighbor totally should have chipped in half for the fence, though.
I hear you - no one wants that, I agree completely with safety 💯. Our fence is safe. It’s my 6lb Shih Tzu that fits underneath a chainlink fence, not the bigger dog or child. I walked past a house with holes in the fence I can slip through, and there pool is visible…no one’s harassing them. It’s just frustrating. It’s over the top 🫠
Laila. I can send you the bylaw and you can read it then - tell us again how important this bylaw is. “Superduper”? Not so much.
1. The pool type is technically not included in our towns bylaw. It’s the non ridged type.
2. We had an 8 foot high steel fence installed that was always locked and unclimbable. The sides of this non rigid pool are not climbable as it is. We simply wished to satisfy the concerns of our neighbors.
3. The fence was not specifically mentioned in the bylaw so we were told to remove it (I mentioned our pool type is also not mentioned in the bylaw either right).
We spent 10k as approved by the bylaw people. After it was built they found something else they didn’t like and I had to invent a fence to go on the top of the pool that is way less safe than the steel fence.
did you not watch it? it was the neighbour that HAS ONE OF THE BROKEN FENCES that called. So actually, they are not heroes, they where actually part of the problem.
I once forgot to wind up the side window going through the auto car wash. That was the first time I ever experienced a thunder storm inside a car. A few seconds but felt like it's taking forever for the electric window to work. My kids were having a blast though. 😂
Crappy neighbors are such a buzzkill. I lived in a semi detached home in Stoney Creek for 3.5 years when my twins were babies. You literally did not hear a peep from us for the entire time we lived there (we all went to sleep at 6:30/7pm because, twin babies!!). Our attached neighbors were a young couple with no kids. The last week right before we moved, my FIL left his truck with us as he went to Poland for a few weeks. The husband called parking enforcement on us because the truck was blocking OUR driveway by 18", resulting in a $250 ticket. I literally don't understand some people, I wish I had this kind of time on my hands.
We now live in Welland on a cul-de-sac and I couldn't have asked for better neighbors. We're a family here and everyone looks out for eachother. It's really special.
I'm glad everything worked out and hope that neighbor reads this and realizes how uncool that was. As if you need that kind of stress...
My neighbours on one side go crazy when I bring out the paddling pool for my kids so I'm with you Amanda have your fun with your family and everyone else can go bleep themselves! Glad you found a way while taking the high road 😊

Oh I get you 😊 I have "baby" brother, he was born when I was 17! Haha and he called me mom till like 3 or 4 yrs old. And he is helping me now with my kids and house...its awesome having that amazing sibling. Btw I have teo other siblings eho are very close with age to me, but we dont really get along...so when my brother was born, my dream came true 😊❤❤❤
