    Why is ranking on the first page of Google a terrible offer? I understand you encourage us to shift to 'revenue-based thinking' instead of 'rankings-based thinking', but when only 0.44% of people search past the first page, how can a company make any revenue unless they're ranking on the first page? I guess what I am asking is - shouldn't the focus be on rankings (assuming the keyword is driving enough buyer intent search volume), because this will then bring revenue. I don't understand how you can shift to revenue based thinking without delivering first page results? Thanks John

      "Why is ranking on the first page a terrible offer?" Because its the same offer as everyone else, and prospects are sick and tired of hearing it. The SEO industry has a terrible reputation and it needs to change. This is why I talk so much about revenue. That's what clients care about. Getting customers and making sales. When you change the way you think about SEO and start running campaigns much the same way as you would say, a Google ads campaign - everything changes and you'll wonder why you never did it sooner. Everyone I've taught over the past decade has made this shift and none of them will ever go back to chasing rankings again.
