As a miner I want to add something here. People who are considering to jump on mining, make sure to be ready for earning drop. Because ETH will go POS next July to August. Therefore the most profitable coin will get vanished from the mining market. And you have to switch to other less profitable coin such as RVN, ERG, FLUX, ETC etc. Make sure to calculate the risk factor. Don't just jump because it looks lucrative. Be ready for bad day. And without proper technical expertise or know how don't start it. Do not rely on other people to run your rig.
With the mining difficulty going up, the profitability would be negative or to be optimistic - less profitable no matter what coin we mine. And even if we mine a coin, the volatility of the price in the market makes it even riskier to book any profit any time we want.

Umm.. you are partially true. GPU is the best way to do mining. It gives you the flexibility to switch algorithm back and forth. It has better resale value and comes with 3 years warranty. Which is enough to do ROI. ASICS are good but if the algorithm moves to ASIC resistant then the machine will become worth to nothing. Like all those ETH ASIC miner which will loose the value once POS hits. But GPUs can be switched over to other coins. Yes profitability will reduce but it won't be that bad.
