What kinda kid had pristine holos in one touch cases in their childhood collection 20 years ago, now at a garage sale? Lol just doesn't seem very legitimate but still nice seeing the cards, sure
I replied to a similar comment with this. They didn't have these out originally for sale, so I don't think they planned on selling them or even remembered they had them. The way they spoke of their kids was like they do not live in the area anymore, but never spoke of the last time they were there or the last time they did anything with these cards. So it could have been a 1 year or 10 years since one of their kids did anything with the cards. I did notice there was dust on a lot of stuff and the screw down cases were all way over tightened to the point most of them were cracked. I don't remember ever seeing any one touch cases though, but I could be wrong. Watching the video back I only saw screw down cases.
It's incredibly unusual, but I did have one friend who would sit at his desk with a stack of sleeves, a stack of top loaders, a stack of these hard cases, and his binder, opening packs & sleeving each card straight out of the pack. Commons & uncommons got sleeved & put in a binder, non-holo rares got sleeved & put into top loaders, holos & better got sleeved and put into the hard cases/slabs. Very unusual for a 10 year old kid, and confused the hell out of me back then, but I totally get it now. The best part is that his parents were pretty well off. From 1st Edition Base to the end of the original EX sets, his parents would buy him a booster box of each new set when they'd release. He'd also usually spend whatever allowance he had on more packs, boxes, and loose cards at our local shop. Needless to say, he had (maybe still has) a pretty insane collection of cards. 99% of kids definitely weren't protecting their cards this well, but there were some kids, like my friend, who did. If he still has those cards, I can't imagine the value of his collection. I definitely remember a 1st Edition Base Charizard, a 1st Edition Neo Destiny Lugia, and a 1st Edition Neo Revelation Shining Gyarados for sure, but I'm sure there were plenty more ridiculous cards in his collection.
For sale? I’m back into Pokémon and looking for the ones I had in 4th grade. Unfortunately I can’t just buy them all bc I’m not a millionaire but I def would like to buy a couple of my favs
I don’t understand how someone knew the value of these to the point where they encased all the holos in screw down cases and kept them minty fresh, but would let them go for about 5% their value. This is either a massive fuck up by a Mom (but why would she just sell her sons cards?) or the storyline here is fake…
