Going to see a Davis concert was one of the most exciting things in my life.
I couldn't believe what I saw and listened to.
I understood his immensity when I saw him direct every situation.
Stop a musician with a look but not by "castrating" him, if anything, by elevating him. Do not start a "solo" until you have created the right balance, the right dynamic from which you start and achieve a deadly performance.
And so, every concert, different from the previous one.
In this piece, taken from the 1989 Live in Paris that I remastered to clean it and give it "depth", we understand part of its greatness.
After the theme and the "canonical" development of Michael Jackson's song "WHY", start the improvisation.
Zero dynamics.
And before Sax's solo starts, he shuffles the cards.
He calls him next to him, he suggests. But still something does not "turn". Send it back, take care of the rhythm, then play with the sounds until you reach the right "pathos". At that point he calls the sax and ... the result is memorable.
Other than Heavy Metal.
I have listened to him for years and the joy always comes out in me.
It is like a prayer that I dedicate to life.
It makes me understand and remember why I love this beautiful and unique art in the world.
It is pure energy that enters my body and refreshes my spirit.
Exaggerated ??
Provide to listen to it ... but not in the background.
Give yourself 15 minutes in silence ... sitting ... at high volume!
Thanx Miles

Unbelivable tension..what a performance. Each of them.
Your insightful commentary and obvious engineering talent plus the fact that you posted this magnificent artistry to unwashed masses like me, I offer humble thanks, neigh gratitude for what Miles & Co. simply "did" one night from one thousand. I'm nearly reduced to tears, a big hug to both artists so represented this day.
Song title is "Human Nature" written by Steve Porcaro for Michael Jackson... If they ask Why, say them : "Why why"...
Miles Davis is infinitely lovable . No one can replace his visionary feel for time , and music . Let us all be thankful that Miles graced us with his visit .
This surely is a way to transport a fan to heaven! Miles Davis lives forever through his music.

He was the best
Miles is a pure jazz innovator. To see him mentor these younger musicians is AWSOME!
The Beethoven of modern jazz - I think there are many parallels: both men's exploration of new forms (or reworkings of older formats) and new sounds, the dynamic power of their work, the revolutionary impact they had in creating new styles and idioms, their constant struggle to get their music heard but also to get some decent economic return on it (Beethoven struggled with publishers and conductors, Miles with his record label people) - and their ability to engage with the very building blocks of music and test their relationships.
I saw this version of Miles' band within what must have been days or weeks of this gig, at the Manchester Apollo, England. Travelled all the way down from Scotland, by bus. It was worth it. Incredible gig.
I think I was also at that Manchester gig. Miles was in superb form, as was Kenny Garrett.
Yes - if you watch the entire dvd (Miles in Paris, filmed in early November '89) you can tell he is feeling his bodily ailments. It's visible at some points that he has some difficulties moving around, and Kenny takes more solos than Miles - but he is clearly sharp and in command all the time. Wonderful dvd!
A masterful concert: brilliantly constructed spacing, pared down melodies, rhythmic inventions at every turn through the marvelous soloing of each musician; staging brings attention to each soloist as though they had become Shakespearean actors reciting the notes from Mount Olympus; with Miles bringing the spiritual elements of the Blues and Post-Bop Swing( Kelly, Chambers, and Cobb) to the stage. One of his great live performances that will forever be enjoyed and studied in awe.
right on
To me this is THE defining Miles/Kenny take of Human Nature, bar none.
KENNY GARRETT ON SAX IS AMAZING!!!!
I've always loved Kenny's playing 👌
I've watched this many times on dvd, and I found that once I begin it's hard or impossible to stop watching and listening; this is riveting!
Amazing how miles is the same dude from the 60’s.
What a remastered, it’s like something in the future. What a solo by Kenny! The rhythm section with the bass is amazing.
Thanks Miles!! You are the best! My tears!
My 1st Miles CD was DoBop. The posthumous one. The two arias, at beginning and end hooked me! I have several of his works now. My respect grows for the man every time I hear him!
Wow😮 This just blows you away what a Amazon performance by these Musicans. Miles your a cut above the rest Why, Why, Why, tell them it's Human Nature ❤😊.
The best sax solo everrrrrr!!!

Extremamente extraordinário! Miles é de uma extrema sensibilidade MUSICAL! Um ser humano além do seu tempo! Sensacional! Um extra terrestre!
This is pure gold!!! Two of my biggest musical inspirations right here - MJ and Miles Davis!
Well... you got ONE, right!
The song is written by Steve Porcaro from the band Toto. ❤
You like child molesters?
You automatically become one of my favorite best friends in the world because I have followed Miles since I was 13 in 1951!
Oh yes, I've wqtched this brilliant, lyrical take so many times - and the entire dvd too! Of course, the title really is Human Nature, but I figure there was some need to lead the bots astray... ;) Absolutely beuatiful, this to me is THE defining version of Miles' and band's interpretation of the song - and they played it hundreds of times during his last five or six years!
Miles Davis was not from this world, we never forget his brilliant talent 👏 dear Miles thanks for everything we miss you every day. R.I.P. 🙏🙏🙏
best sound of that band, miles is soo good in shape. wow. without watching video. the sound is amazing
i realy like this energy of the sound
Great concert, by a great musican!
Morocco 1960s Marrakech in the main square Mr. Miles Davis with Juliette Greco! Just another tourist? No not until the broadcast by Marie France Rabat Francais: The Chopin of Jazz is in Marrakech today the one and only Mr. Miles Davis! That blew me up! I traced him and shook his hand an experience I will never forget!

I saw Miles Davis twice in concert and I think this was during the concert at La Grande Halle De La Villette, if so, I was there. Thank you for posting this video, this artist was a legend! 🙏😉
Pas 91, Halle that Jazz?
It's at le Zénith in Paris, early November 1989 (a few nights before the opening of the Berlin Wall, something I find very symbolic (this track is about longing and liberation, or about growing towards a new level). The opening track on the outstanding Miles in Paris live dvd.
Miles, Um homem de LUZ! Sensacional!
The song is called "Human Nature"
Lol
What Can I say..I just lost..my MOMMY
Being Human is an Honour.

Grazie Lele !!!
Mamma mia....grazie miles ❤
Where are all the Jazz lovers? RIP Sir Miles Davis
Quell belle reponse, Monsieur ! Merci !
The best version cancion the world
TOUJOURS INCERTAIN. MAIS D'UNE BEUATÉ INFINI...!!! DIRECTEMENT DE SALVADOR-BA- BRASIL. FUI...
Bravo mon cher oiseau...
from the zero point to the sky. for ever
Wow, Kenny Garrett evokes, Cannonball Adderly...I also read something that said that Mr. Garrett practiced with the late Pharaoh Sanders.
The best
Miles always Miles.I am always Bitches Brew in the flesh.Remember my friend well.John Lennon James Baldwin all living in or near Grande Course the Bronx N.Y.Miles writing music and running it by us..sweet life,beautiful..

PLEASE TELL ME WHO THE OTHER GUY IS WHO COMES IN FOR THE SAX SOLO ! 👏🏽
Kenny Garrett?!
Yes Kenny Garrett
Feels rushed compared to the 1988 version here on RUclips. I guess the guy who remastered it wanted it that way.
Kenny Garrett on also, right?
Yes.
