      I think the problem is that it sets a terrible precedent, it would be better to give them citizenship and send them to jail (taking her child into adoption agencies. When they deny her access, she will never give them her child, therefore entering a horrible Life for an innocent kid, and she will have further reason to go back into ISIS. I too think she should go f herself and have to live with the stupid decisions she made, but by denying her citizenship (for the some purpose of locking her up) it sets a terrible precedent for the future and would lead to a terrible life for her innocent child.

    No. Anyone who has actively made the choice (without being forced) to leave their country to join ISIS has given up their right to return. The state shouldn't even have to waste money on prosecuting and imprison these people. And women who have done this should not get a pass because they are women. The only exception should be children of these people, because they are the only innocent ones. So in my opinion, her child should be allowed to go to the UK to live with relatives if they choose to do so, but she shouldn't be allowed to return.
    I'm a pretty empathetic person, but I feel no pity for these women. They put themselves into that position, and the one from UK certainly didn't regret what she did.

Trying to foist her off on another [poorer] government because the UK does not want to accept responsibility is wrong on so many levels. Australia has recently made someone stateless doing the same thing. An Australian man, Neil Prakash (born and raised in Australia) has recently had his citizenship revoked because his parents were Fijian and the Australian government thinks he is eligible to apply for Fijian citizenship despite the Fijian government firmly stating he is not. About the ISIS women, I am struggling with the idea that two women, of about the same age, and at the same time were able to walk away from ISIS. With the way that ISIS views and treats women, I am having a difficult time understanding how not one, but two women, one with a child were not only able to successfully leave the Islamic State, but also are immediately put on national television, doing interviews, and begging to be let back in? It feels a lot to me like pandering to a digital audience, and outrage culture knowing there will be conflicting and polarizing opinions on whether or not these women should be allowed back into the countries that they committed acts of treason in. Something about this whole situation feels so very off to me.
    In regards to the family vloggers and RUclips's response. I am finding myself being pulled in a few different directions. In my opinion, monetized RUclips videos are products that are put out to be consumed, and the producer of the product is getting money for that product they are selling. So it is my opinion that the channel owners are responsible for the conduct that happens on their channel which includes comment sections. There are comment review filters available for channel owners to use and one could argue even job opportunities for RUclipsr's to hire people to their teams that can moderate comments similar to Twitch chat moderators.
    I also get pulled into a direction of asking why there are children so young on the platform at all. In the RUclips terms of service you must be over the age of 13 to accept the ToS and it explicitly states, "If you are under 13 years of age, then please do not use the Service. There are lots of other great web sites for you. Talk to your parents about what sites are appropriate for you." To me, if there is a child under 13 on this service openly, they should be banned, and they should not be in content if they are under 13 even with parental permission. Now this doesn't solve the problem of predators interested in older children but it does remove a lot of the content in question. This whole situation is tough but I think the answer lies in policy change not in outrage.

I'm also very suspicious of the women trying to come back from joining a terrorist group as if it was "just the kind of thing that teens do at that rebellious age". And the one that can't even seem to show any remorse is just a psychopath, plain and simple. The other one may be truly sorry but, regardless of her age when she left, her decision-making skills are insanely problematic, at best. The ex-UK woman (Shamima) should not, and can not, be allowed back to the UK (her baby should either stay with her or given to her parents to raise). Not under any circumstances. If her family wants to be with her, they are more than welcome to move to Turkey (where she is now) or any other countries that she is allowed to reside or seek refuge in. I understand that she was only 15 when she was brainwashed into joining ISIL as a Jihadi wife, and I also understand that at that age, a young woman can easily be exploited to turn to extremism (of any religions). However, she showed and said no remorse/regret for the killings she witnessed personally or through her "husband". She said she understood why those people had to be killed, and she also admitted that it may be very difficult for her to be rehabilitated at this point in time. So why are the UK trying to let her back in, when she hasn't change a bit?
    If her parents want to forgive her, they can...they're her parents no matter what she did (and a girl should have the support of her family). But giving her citizenship back...letting her back into the UK? No. I do honestly feel bad for her past experiences, but not when she then goes and basically say "yea, they did inhumane things, but I understand and sympathise."

      I think that for the British woman, but the American woman genuinly seemed disgusted by herself. While there should be rehabilitation of some sort, lessons taught, I do not think prison for the rest of her life is justified. People are indoctrinated into things, pushed in directions by their surroundings that lead them to go to extremes, yet they may feel like garbage for doing that even though they saw that as their only way out. She genuinly seemed remorseful and hoping to go back to normalcy. The british lady on the other hand, she does not seem to feel bad for her actions. I would go so far as to say she is dangerous. Life in prison may breed her anger or whatever she has further, but some sort of intense rehab and understandably some time in confinement seems reasonable.

Expatriation allows them the freedom to rejoin ISIS and continue harming others.

      @JamesCannotSpell 5 лет назад +3

      Let's talk about these former ISIS women. Firstly you should all know that i am a Labour supporter from the UK and i am a very opinionated person.
      So. Let's take the joining part first. If we were to ask moast teenagers I'm the UK and US if they can name some attacks ISIS have done over the years I think that moast of them could and if not they could name some other terrorists organization. So are we to truly belive that these two teenage girls from two country's where catastrophic attacks have taken place didn't know that they were going and joining a terrorists organization? No. To be frank they have kind of already admitted that they knew what they were getting into.
      Now onto the elephant in the room. Should they be allowed into there respected countries? That is complicated. They have defiantly have the right to ask to come back in but we have know idea on how to get into ISIS. I don't know if you just go in and ask, they then give you a badge saying "I'm in ISIS" or if you have to sign various forms that make you revoke your citizenship for your place of birth.
      They joined a widely recognised terrorists organization and now want to come home. This US woman has said she is sorry but is that enough? The UK woman has basicly applied the "eye for and eye" logic and is not sorry for anything.
      Now this is completely against my normal political view but... and this applies more to the people of the UK... do we want this woman to come into our country after joining ISIS and having a chilled, to come and use up tax payers money using the NHS? Even if we are to put them in jail we still pay a tax for that. This isn't something that we can just let pass over. We need to set an example. If you leave to join a terrorist organisation then you don't get to come back after you "now realize that they are bad"
      We cannot let them back in.
      James.

Eventually that led her down the rabbit hole of being brainwashed online that ISIS is right or whatever (she was a teenager back then hating life so she could be easily brainwashed).
      After years she had the chance to go join ISIS and so she took the opportunity.
      That’s what I understand from her story. So many people who join ISIS have similar stories like that and it’s sad because it’s all the parents fault. Now she’s going to go and raise her children the same way🤦🏻‍♀️

    The situation with these two women seeking to return to their home countries seem like two very different people to me. Hoda strikes me as somebody who may potentially have been held in some degree of captivity, whereas Shamima strikes me as VERY much still indoctrinated to the ISIS cause.
    I think there has to be some kind of remorse, no matter who you are, for innocent people getting killed. Shamima didn’t seem to show any. When you’re trying to rationalize or trying to make it seem like the Manchester attacks were okay it shows a large disconnect from how that person values lives. There’s nothing just in seeing children senselessly killed.
    I feel like this may be a situation where the UN Crimes Court should get involved to determine if they had any direct involvements in loss of life. It’s also a question of if they’d be able to socially reintegrate into their native countries without persecution, or risk, to them or their children. Both seem like they’ll be treated as “enemy combatants” by their governments, which means their children will be parentless and put into a social services system. I don’t think that’s the answer.

    • @callymoore7380
      @callymoore7380 5 лет назад +49

      Mackenzie Reeves I completely agree with you. Hoda seems to actually comprehend the gravity of the situation and also accept responsibility for her actions. She seemed to show remorse and regret without ‘victimizing’ herself- which to me is the kind of response from someone who is no longer brainwashed/indoctrinated.
      However, Shamimas response was frankly offensive. The exasperation in her voice when she was put on the spot for an apology was overwhelmingly disrespectful. And what she said was the “apology” of someone who doesn’t think they have done anything wrong. “I’m sorry but...” is not an apology. It felt to me like she either still has a lot of processing/reflecting to do before she can actually understand what she has done or like she still has ties to ISIS.

    *The ppl who went to support ISIS even though they MIGHT not have killed directly are also responsible* . Isn't it naive to think they didn't do anything while being there? They just sat doing nothing when they believed in their terrorist ideology? I think both should be taken back and made an example out of by jailing them for life or sentencing them to death the same way victims most likely were cause it seems some don't wanna pay taxes for them. But the thing is.. There has to be justice for the victims and death is the easy way out for them considering they believe they will be rewarded after death. And we also can't leave them to raise the children, cause they will end up teach them to hate and antagonize the west and non muslims, which is pretty much making another generation of potential terrorists. This will be my first kid and those videos have helped me more than any book can because it shows an actual person’s experience with their child. There are times when it can go to far, such as when the video becomes more important than the child. But not every channel that has videos involving children is the same.

    Potentially unpopular opinion: I understand why Jessica's videos might be getting auto-dominitized when she has multiple thumbnails of her child doing the splits. I'm not saying she's exploiting her son, but I am saying that RUclips can only do so well with it's current algorithm and a similar thumbnail with bad intentions could be disgusting clickbait for people who are searching for that kind of content.

    • @LluviaAva
      @LluviaAva 5 лет назад +25

      Agreed. It's not as if her videos were unrelated to the issue, even if her intention isnt making money from Ps. It was related in that's something they were searching.
      Though, I'm personally against people using their children to make money, regardless of intent so I'm biased. Those videos were not removed, just demonetized because they shared a similar theme. Ive been getting ads all over youtube, so... so far things don't seem horrible for content unrelated to minors.

It’s takes a sick individual to sexualize children, period. That’s not right and has nothing to do with them. Your argument would be valid if she wasn’t doing a sport that required it, or she was doing it for “look my child can do spilts for no reason”.

      I’m glad to find a comment that’s substantive and not just calling him “daddy”. So to the topic at hand, I had a similar reaction to those videos too. It just feels a little, I don’t know, wrong to monetize videos of your kids doing anything really. I guess to be honest I don’t really know much about monetized RUclips vids or how it works. And certainly an algorithm can only do so much and those thumbnails were pretty on target for what something like that would have to be designed to look for.

The United States stayed there for 7 years and set up infrastructure told them how to be successful and by the 1980's they were the 3rd largest economy in the world, all because they listened to what they were told. Now return 15 years ago, Iraq decimated, defeated, and occupied yet again the US builds Infrastructure, tells them how to be successful, yet they took that fresh start and threw it away, now look at them. They did every bit of this shit to themselves. Although less extreme of a transformation, look a Germany occupied by US and other European nations (West side)for 10 years, now look at them, 4th largest economy in the world (and we only rebuilt half of it(West side))and the cherry on the top the US occupied portion is the wealthiest part of Germany. War is War, innocent people die, if you are on the losing side it truly sucks, but unlike every other empire the world has ever seen the US not only rebuilds the defeated countries but also tries to set them up for success and then proceeds to leave them alone.
