I just noticed all the visions are explicitly sometime to with his family. Vision 1 = worship of Leto. Vision 2 = Lady Jessica walking amoung the starving, Vision 3 = Alia. Vision 4 = the Baron (his grandfather).
My first reaction in the movie theater was "great compositing". But no, they searched for real spot where desert meets coast and went there with a camera team.Great shot!
@@cra1396 It is indeed a spectacular place! I’m very lucky to have grown up there. Perhaps even more terrifying than giant worms are the hyenas and lions that patrol all over! It also features heavily in the new Fallout show which was cool to see.
From Wikipedia: "The indigenous San people... of the Namibian interior called the region "The Land God Made in Anger", while Portuguese sailors once referred to it as "The Gates of Hell"." Ay. You'd be hard-pressed to convince me this wasn't intentional. Poor Paul, poor Alia.
@reganharvan sassy 2 year old demon child who sasses the baron and others, would not have translated well onto screen today, excellent creative choice. Either way Duncan Idaho is the real hero along the way.
Paul's visions were one of the weak points of part 1. They were supposed to be trippy, disorientating and terrifying. But Villeneuve just shot things in slow mo and called it a day. Glad to see he tried to fix them for part 2, and succeed for the most part. In my opinion they should still be a bit more trippy, but at least there are no perfume commercial shots now.
That "talk to me Jamis" was so heartfelt, like hes begging his friend for an answer to this impossible problem before him
finally someone else mentions that part! that is my favorite scene.
@@eeweka1after that vision Paul understands he must become lisan al gaib

Tfw you take so many edibles you fulfil a omnicidal religious prophecy.
The point isn’t to go kill a bunch of random people, it’s to ensure his people live. Big difference
Omnicide ftw 😗👌
seeing the duke leto skull shrine was crazy

You forgot:
Chani's Death
Feyd Rautha Death (the hand stab with the knife)
His death too
Makes sense. The Water of Life unlocks genetic memories, which means all of the visions will be related to family.
“Vanity, all is vanity.”
I can understand and sympathize with Paul and Chani’s viewpoints
As a Namibian I can spot the Skeleton Coast anywhere 3:52. Knew it the moment I saw it in the cinema.
that coast is other-worldly, i cant believe that exists

In the video you can't see it well, but Paul, after calling Jamis in his vision, cries.
As in the book, Usul gives water to the dead.
Exactly! I remember when I saw the movie in theaters and I could see the tear streaming down his cheek.
I love that orange. Its so good with Arakkis. So good with his visions.
I love mandarin.
"You need to see"
... as far he (or you) can see... (I've reheard this in my mind regularly since the first day of March)
2:01 looks quite realistic
Thank god they changed Alia's vision. The book's version is ultra sus.

Hey it's Leto's skull mentioned in Dune Part 1 vision
God, Chani’s face when she got burned by the stoneburner bruh
Leto II visions when?!
Yes
2:59
Where tf is Leto’s body anyways
It could be any skull (unless there is still some means to find out by DNA comparison)
Maybe the baron held onto it to present to the emperor and then it got back to paul when he took power
In the book, they recovered Leto’s remains in a raid on Arrakeen. It’s mentioned in Paul’s thoughts at the beginning of the worm riding chapter.

Yeah, those parts of the book were wild.
