Eh Jungkook got most of the times in most of their songs because he’s the main vocalist, like how Jimin got the 2nd most lines for a vocalist because he is the lead vocalist. The screen time was more fair for the most part; coming from someone who is Jin biased. I just hate people who hate on JK for that though, if anything it was BigHit’s idea because in LGO most of the members got to shine for a pretty good time and he directed it. The one thing I see here is that people are assuming that these views numbers are the views the groups have got in the same year they've released the MV ! But no, this is the current views and their videos are categorized by year. Not by how many views they've got in that year
True, Bts werent that big in 2012/2013.. if we get back at the views of the same years alot of Bts songs will be out of the list and we will be seeing more of Snsd, Suju, Apink, Hyuna, Shinee, fx,2ne1 ect
@@bangtanmoaengene9419 baah Im an old Kpoper I dont really remember in which year they debuted , I stopped being kpoper in 2015, At that time alot of bands were still much more famous than Bts, for Example in 2013 and 2014 Shinee Super junior and beast and some other 2nd generation bands were certainly still at the top of the game I was surprised when I didnt find their songs and found bts songs instead, at 2015 Bts DOPE wasnt even close to Bang bang bang views and even Call me baby by Exo was higher in views.
yeah, this is the current views I like to see the growth of bts too, like how they have been a small act from the almost bankrupted company & then how they became the ruler of the kpop industry. Unfortunately, I couldn't find that kinda video yet. Wow, thanks for the trip down memory lane! As someone who's been a kpop fan since 2008, the first half of the video hit me right in the nostalgia. The ranking isn't exactly the way it really looked back in the day, because some of the most popular songs at the time died out and stopped getting new views, while other less popular songs gained views because the group itself got more popular, but it's still an interesting reminder of how the industry has evolved right in front of my eyes!
Love this memory trip too. As a fan since 2005 and my first group was Super Junior back then.. Being an Elf to Army.. There's so many group in between ..

Like literally bts songs has so many varieties.I can listen to as many songs as I want from still with you to butter every song is masterpiece .No wonder why their songs are on the top.Their songs deserves all of this.From emotional to fun to songs for haters they have all types of songs and all of them are masterpieces.
Honestly as a fan of them during those times it feels so cathartic to see their old bops being this loved😭 they were so deserving but nobody was paying enough attention, and now they do! Such a crazy history.

When EXO first debuted.. they were literally called Sm's first fail, even disappeared for 16 months after their debut.. ppl thought they disbanded.. & BTS, they may have debuted from a small company but they weren't entirely/completely unpopular then either.. having released a couple amount of decently popular songs in korea. "Danger", "boy in luv" in 2014 a year after their debut. They also released "run" "dope" & "I need you" in 2015. Now, those songs did numbers, getting more popular as the years go by. But that was only 2 years after their debut!.. NOT TO MENTION, even traveling to America(which is HUGE for a small group, from a small company) & having a short TV show of their own. (American Hustle Life in 2014) but the fame BTS have now is WORLD WIDE.. yes, EXO has world wide fame as well but it's no where near BTS level..
i have not been an ARMY since the start but ill be an ARMY till the end. i know it was so hard for them and they thought of disbanding. they used to give people FREE TICKETS to their concerts and now...they sell out in seconds. i am so proud of them and i am proud that i made the choice to stan them because they make me so happy and they have pulled me out of a really dark hole, they are angels 💜

This literally made me more proud of BTS. They never left the chart , they were always there dominating the big company groups! There was a time when fire was literally the national anthem of kpop,there is literally not a single place where fire hasn't ruled.I remember those days when people used to say that "bts rarely has any achievement", " no daesang " and now this video made me so proud,this video is literally a prove that BTS domination was always visible.

I have mixed emotions for videos like that because A video released in January has more of an advantage over a video released in November/December. But those kind of charts are still cool to see.

I'm so happy for all the groups that are on this video, specially BTS, but I'm sad that most of new kpopers don't know about Beast/Highlight... they were a big inspiration for many idols of the third generation including BTS... I knew they were more famous in Korea and Asia but not in the west but still I'm sad, I feel like people forgot about them 😭😭😭
I think it would be really interesting to see how different this list would be if you only included the views that each MV got in the year they were released. That way you could more authentically see BTS' growth and when they really started to turn the industry upside down. I remember when I first realized BTS was finally getting popular in Korea, and it was around the Dope era... but in the beginning iirc it was mostly international fans mass-buying albums, a lot of them from Russia. It's crazy how things have changed. It used to be that 50M was a lot of views for a Kpop video. Now we're over 1 billion for several of them.
It would certainly add some more diversity to the list, too! This list shows more how BTS has been able to become Kpop's ultimate powerhouse. That's definitely cool, too... but as a Kpop fan since 2007, some of the list didn't fully make sense (like, there are other groups who had more views at the time, but BTS' views now overshadow them completely). The views themselves are, of course, deserved! And I think it makes most people happy to see them have multiple of the top 5s per year! But the list would've been totally different at the end of each of those years. fwiw, I'll bet it's really tough to find the numbers from each individual year, though, so I get why it'd be a really tough video to research and make

I'm very proud to see BTS groups from small agencies can be successful and can compete with other groups from big agencies💜 And I also remember the time when they gave out free tickets so many people could watch their performance but now the concert tickets are sold out in a matter of minutes so very proud️💜

As a Korean, this ranking seems to have been heavily influenced by the current popularity of BTS. Actually I never heard BTS's music on the street before 2016.
As an International fan of Kpop since 2011 I can say clearly that you're right in this point, even internationally BTS started to get this much attention by 2015...

I was watching this and was shocked at the BTS videos appearing as soon as it was 2013. I wish they had a historical count too. As an ARMY, I find this misleading and makes people think they didn't have to work for the numbers - when that was obviously not the case for anyone who knows their story...
I agree, it would be more accurate for what is popular in that year. because obviously, if it's counts of views altogether, bts will be there everytime because they old mvs get watched nowadays always because of their popularity. Not only would it be more accurate, it would be more fair

Exactly... I discovered BTS' N.O. shortly after it was released and it definitely did not have more views than EXO's wolf, which was blasted everywhere when it came out. It's misleading, as you said, as BTS were barely known at the time and with videos such as these, new ARMYs will not understand how hard it was at the time for them.

Can we just take a second to recognize how vastly different the evolution between BTS and EXO’s title tracks are? EXO started off in typical SM fashion where your comebacks are going to cover a variety of concepts and it’s change between back to back comebacks. Whereas with BTS, they followed more of a steady transition between genres and concepts, which definitely eased older fans into their newer sounds. Either way, both of them are wicked talented and have proved that they’re able to handle any genre/concept/style thrown at them! Although, I’d definitely like to see EXO do something like “Scream” by Dreamcatcher and BTS do something like “Girls” by Nature! 🙌💗💜
Yesss, great to see someone appreciate both groups! I definately agree they both can pull of any concept/genre. I remember when BTS watched a rock cover of Fake Love they said they'd love to try something with that genre. I think they'd nail it. I think the closest we got to a rock-ish concept with EXO was the wolf remix. I'd love to see them try something heavier like Dreamcatcher.
I'm not sure it helped ease older fans to their new sounds, I was a fan from their debut and slowly stopped listening when they became more pop, and I know a lot of people that had the same feeling. I still just listen to their older songs while the new ones like Dynamite and Butter stay off my playlists. I'm happy for them tho and I guess I just have to wait for a group to debut with similar concepts that they had in their earlier years (something like BP after 2ne1). But obviously their new sound attracts more fans so I understand and accept the transition of the group, I'm not hating on the newer songs, just saying that the change of style isn't for everyone.

I got into them in 2014 but I left as well the fandom was just to loud in a bad way and I stopped enjoying bts music after 2019 but it’s awesome how well they are doing
2019 was the year of girl groups in kpop featuring the queen Boy With Luv, it survived and shattered all the records in 2019 when so many gg's had dropped amazing songs which had done very well!!!

Ikr. Even without full members they hit almost 2 Million sales with Don't fight the feeling album. That too with SM barely promoting them and they still manages to be the top selling SM artist every year.
@@sameermohammed5615 In South Korea, all men have to serve in military for at least 2 years whether they are normal people, celebrity, actors or k-pop idols. They can't skip this because it's mandatory. So EXO members are completing their military service on regular intervals since 2019. Like 2 members enlisted in 2019, then two in 2020, then 2 again in 2021, and the members which enlisted in 2019 have completed their service and returned to the group.

Right now 4 members are in military (Suho, Chen, Chanyeol & Beakhyun). 2 have completed their service and have returned (D.O. & Xiumin). Now only Kai and Sehun are left to serve. I think next year those two will also enlist and by that time Suho and Chen will return. Because Lay is from China, he doesn't need to enlist. They are not totally on a complete hiatus. They released their album with 6 members in 2019. Then members also doing their solo's which are also very successful. Just few months ago they have released their new album.
I must say, the ARMYs are insane haha. If BTS will release 5 songs with MV in a year, they would probably top it all! Also, I've been watching this kind of vids to discover more songs and groups to stan. So true this feels so biased... Since the view counts increased drastically in the recent years for bts, its not fair for the groups that were actually dominating the 2013 - 2015 years... I distinctly remember good boy by big bang being more famous than the bts song and bang bang bang is the song of the year for 2015 but becauss so many people viewed dope in the recent years dope is higher than bang bang bang for some reason? If u wanna compare the songs you have to take into account the views in that year only... I'm not being biased to big bang, believe me im an army but srsly this list is so biased just because they have access to a bigger audience does not mean that they actually dominated that year
one problem with using current view counts rather than what the view count was within the year a song is released is that earlier BTS mvs that originally didnt have such high views are now pushed up the ranks which just dont accurately reflect the top 5 during that year... like kudos to the group for being an entire phenomenon but i would rather get reminded of what was actually charting back in 2013-2015 and then see when they suddenly started to get massive popularity... idk might just be me.
True as i remember mv for youtube in earlier years didnt have as much views. Also, back then fans just didnt stream for the sake of raising views...we just watched for sake of watching it haha
EXO for Life. I actually think I have a good taste in Music when I heard them sing. I'm so proud of what they've achieved, they're so successful, I'd rather not see them performing or making music videos, it's fine for me to see them doing what they want without being mistreated and being pushed through a lot of works and trainings
I think the title of this video needs to be changed or the description to include this, as its not technically the most viewed videos of each year (which would be different due to group popularities at the time) but videos made in a specific year and their current view count/ranking. Maybe putting that in the description would be a good idea as this may confuse people to what was actually the most popular videos of that year.
I just came from another thread with a similar comment, and someone got called toxic just for pointing this out🤦♀️ yes we know some groups are obviously extremely popular now and "old" groups would fade away. But like it would be much more accurate to see the actual views of the respective years, because streaming wasn't as competitive as it is now. The creator of this video did a great job but I think a title change would be more accurate.
@@candaceissane7491 exactly, I think it would really be fascinating to see not only the actual numbers from the years but it would also show how streaming etc has changed over the years. Of course the ‘old’ groups won’t be as popular now but that’s the thing at the time of their MV’s etc they were the new groups or the popular ones and it’d be awesome to see how the numbers (and in a way the fandom efforts) contrast to what we’re now used to.
After this video, I feel like my time is really worth spending supporting Bts since 2014 till now. I have been growing up with them Wealth & Mindset together. I was teenager back then when I started seeing Danger lyrics & music video without knowing of what to do in future. Now I have been settling with jobs and whenever I wanted to give up in the past, Bts will be there for me at that time. For now, I'm just waiting for some kind of Anniversary Concerts like 20th Anni of bts on June 13.6.2033.
i think the video would more accurately reflect the popularity of bands at the time if there was a way to see what views were only garnered in that year, it certainly would have looked different in 2013-2014 because bts weren't big or popular yet!

Lets say If a song was released on sep 2016, and if that song was very successful then it will be in the chart for a long time let's say till Feb 2017 and in these compilation videos this song is shown in 2017 category too when it was released in 2016. So we can't take those compilation videos in account. If you know what I mean.

Wow, thanks for the trip down memory lane! As someone who's been a kpop fan since 2008, the first half of the video hit me right in the nostalgia. The ranking isn't exactly the way it really looked back in the day, because some of the most popular songs at the time died out and stopped getting new views, while other less popular songs gained views because the group itself got more popular, but it's still an interesting reminder of how the industry has evolved right in front of my eyes!

"Danger", "boy in luv" in 2014 a year after their debut. They also released "run" "dope" & "I need you" in 2015. Now, those songs did numbers, getting more popular as the years go by. But that was only 2 years after their debut!.. NOT TO MENTION, even traveling to America(which is HUGE for a small group, from a small company) & having a short TV show of their own. (American Hustle Life in 2014) but the fame BTS have now is WORLD WIDE.. yes, EXO has world wide fame as well but it's no where near BTS level..

I think it would be really interesting to see how different this list would be if you only included the views that each MV got in the year they were released. That way you could more authentically see BTS' growth and when they really started to turn the industry upside down. I remember when I first realized BTS was finally getting popular in Korea, and it was around the Dope era... but in the beginning iirc it was mostly international fans mass-buying albums, a lot of them from Russia. It's crazy how things have changed. It used to be that 50M was a lot of views for a Kpop video. Now we're over 1 billion for several of them.

It would certainly add some more diversity to the list, too! This list shows more how BTS has been able to become Kpop's ultimate powerhouse. That's definitely cool, too... but as a Kpop fan since 2007, some of the list didn't fully make sense (like, there are other groups who had more views at the time, but BTS' views now overshadow them completely). The views themselves are, of course, deserved! And I think it makes most people happy to see them have multiple of the top 5s per year! But the list would've been totally different at the end of each of those years.

It's misleading, as you said, as BTS were barely known at the time and with videos such as these, new ARMYs will not understand how hard it was at the time for them.

Can we just take a second to recognize how vastly different the evolution between BTS and EXO’s title tracks are? EXO started off in typical SM fashion where your comebacks are going to cover a variety of concepts and it’s change between back to back comebacks. Whereas with BTS, they followed more of a steady transition between genres and concepts, which definitely eased older fans into their newer sounds.
Either way, both of them are wicked talented and have proved that they’re able to handle any genre/concept/style thrown at them! Although, I’d definitely like to see EXO do something like “Scream” by Dreamcatcher and BTS do something like “Girls” by Nature! 🙌💗💜
Yesss, great to see someone appreciate both groups! I definately agree they both can pull of any concept/genre. I remember when BTS watched a rock cover of Fake Love they said they'd love to try something with that genre. I think they'd nail it. I think the closest we got to a rock-ish concept with EXO was the wolf remix. I'd love to see them try something heavier like Dreamcatcher.
I'm not sure it helped ease older fans to their new sounds, I was a fan from their debut and slowly stopped listening when they became more pop, and I know a lot of people that had the same feeling. I still just listen to their older songs while the new ones like Dynamite and Butter stay off my playlists.
I'm happy for them tho and I guess I just have to wait for a group to debut with similar concepts that they had in their earlier years (something like BP after 2ne1). But obviously their new sound attracts more fans so I understand and accept the transition of the group, I'm not hating on the newer songs, just saying that the change of style isn't for everyone.

2019 was the year of girl groups in kpop featuring the queen Boy With Luv, it survived and shattered all the records in 2019 when so many gg's had dropped amazing songs which had done very well!!!

@@sameermohammed5615 In South Korea, all men have to serve in military for at least 2 years whether they are normal people, celebrity, actors or k-pop idols. They can't skip this because it's mandatory. So EXO members are completing their military service on regular intervals since 2019. Like 2 members enlisted in 2019, then two in 2020, then 2 again in 2021, and the members which enlisted in 2019 have completed their service and returned to the group.

Right now 4 members are in military (Suho, Chen, Chanyeol & Beakhyun). 2 have completed their service and have returned (D.O. & Xiumin). Now only Kai and Sehun are left to serve. I think next year those two will also enlist and by that time Suho and Chen will return. Because Lay is from China, he doesn't need to enlist. They are not totally on a complete hiatus. They released their album with 6 members in 2019. Then members also doing their solo's which are also very successful. Just few months ago they have released their new album.
I must say, the ARMYs are insane haha. If BTS will release 5 songs with MV in a year, they would probably top it all!
Also, I've been watching this kind of vids to discover more songs and groups to stan. But with BTS dominating them all, seems like there's a little chance to discover more hahahhahahahhaha not blaming them. BTS is amazing that they deserve this charts. More vids and I will be an army.

one problem with using current view counts rather than what the view count was within the year a song is released is that earlier BTS mvs that originally didnt have such high views are now pushed up the ranks which just dont accurately reflect the top 5 during that year... like kudos to the group for being an entire phenomenon but i would rather get reminded of what was actually charting back in 2013-2015 and then see when they suddenly started to get massive popularity... idk might just be me.

I think the title of this video needs to be changed or the description to include this, as its not technically the most viewed videos of each year (which would be different due to group popularities at the time) but videos made in a specific year and their current view count/ranking.
Maybe putting that in the description would be a good idea as this may confuse people to what was actually the most popular videos of that year.
I just came from another thread with a similar comment, and someone got called toxic just for pointing this out🤦♀️ yes we know some groups are obviously extremely popular now and "old" groups would fade away. But like it would be much more accurate to see the actual views of the respective years, because streaming wasn't as competitive as it is now. The creator of this video did a great job but I think a title change would be more accurate.

Of course the ‘old’ groups won’t be as popular now but that’s the thing at the time of their MV’s etc they were the new groups or the popular ones and it’d be awesome to see how the numbers (and in a way the fandom efforts) contrast to what we’re now used to.
After this video, I feel like my time is really worth spending supporting Bts since 2014 till now. I have been growing up with them Wealth & Mindset together. I was teenager back then when I started seeing Danger lyrics & music video without knowing of what to do in future. Now I have been settling with jobs and whenever I wanted to give up in the past, Bts will be there for me at that time. For now, I'm just waiting for some kind of Anniversary Concerts like 20th Anni of bts on June 13.6.2033.

i think the video would more accurately reflect the popularity of bands at the time if there was a way to see what views were only garnered in that year, it certainly would have looked different in 2013-2014 because bts weren't big or popular yet!

Lets say If a song was released on sep 2016, and if that song was very successful then it will be in the chart for a long time let's say till Feb 2017 and in these compilation videos this song is shown in 2017 category too when it was released in 2016. So we can't take those compilation videos in account. If you know what I mean.
