Most Amtrak sleeping car attendants are good, and I give them a generous tip. Once in a while, I have one who is exceptional, and I tip those attendants a bit more. I've taken about 20 long Amtrak trips, and I have only had one who was not too good (I think that she was too young).
I agree that the rear view of the tracks is mesmerizing.

I live in Tucson and travel by Amtrak to San Antonio. Interesting show case of the the desolate desert scenery between Tucson and San Antonio.

You should have shown the inside of the Tucson train station. I took this train from Tucson to Pittsburgh. That was an interesting trip. One journey I sat in the seats and the next one I got a Roomette. Staff was extremely nice. We had a lot of unexpected stops due to the train not working. The observation car was very nice. Meals were very good.

I'm a little shy about filming people. In a crowd, I don't mind as much, but smaller settings, I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I'll have to film inside the station at a time when few people are there.

I remember when planning that intermodal facility at Santa Teresa it was originally planned for building and the UP bought the land for it just west of Picacho Peak west of Tucson.

Just imagine if we had high speed public railways like japan, people would prefer a 12 hour drive to a 5 hour train ride everytime

Now that I am in my middle 70s I wish that the Highways would go away and be replaced by dedicated Amtrak tracks. That second story at the Tucson depot was my bosses office. That big window you could see the Catalina mountains in all their glory. Got to retire from the UP after 42 years service at 60. Love retirement.

It was interesting to see the stairwells on the platform that, presumably, went under the tracks and over to the depot building. I have seen old photos of at least two more tracks and another platform between the current tracks and the station depot. The history of the routing of the tracks is very interesting to me.

@@carytodd7211 If I remember right in the late 70s they closed the underground stairs because at night there was a lot of drugs sold there.

Not for this video. All the music in this video is canned music provided by my video-editor. However, I did play the piano background music for my Solar Eclipse video, as I wanted to have the old Duran Duran song "New Moon on Monday" as kind of the "theme song" for this trip. So I played it myself, though highly adapted so the copyright bots would not even recognize the song ;)

At least one of the traffickers was armed, which is also against the law. He was also willing to USE that firearm onboard the train, endangering the lives of all those on board.
