That and the smooth v8 and how incredibly well the car aged the gauge cluster, and overall how even in 2020 the car has a modern feel what’s not to like?
In 2005, I bought a 92 used Lexus LS400 for $3200. My dad was furious that I bought an old car with 189K miles. Best car I've ever owned. Besides the poor gas mileage, the car is masterpiece. I drove this car for 8 years and sold it for $1500 with 245K miles. I regret selling my LS400
Long time LS400 owner and current LS430 owner here. They're quite simply the perfect daily drivers, and I don't plan on driving anything else for as long as possible. Can't recommend them enough!!
@@B2stunt1 for daily driver duty, I like the LS430 as it is just slightly more modern and makes driving in today's traffic just a bit better than the 400. Mainly, the bigger factory brakes and 6 speed trans (05-06) in the LS430 compared to the 4-speed that was in the 1st gen 400 just makes you feel extremely confident in all driving situations. Not to say that the 400 still can't keep up today, but it makes your driver inputs a bit less volatile throughout your commute. Just my $0.02!

Already got a list of other mods to look into.

I have a 91 original LS400 on chrome wheels, black onyx color with tan leather, trac control + heated seats, still works. I saw one a little like mine that sold for 10 grand on bat. she's a beauty for sure
Got mine last September. 1990 model year. Perfect paint, 125k miles, 10/10 interior with only a small tear in the driver's seat leather, and from being an Arizona car, the heat was not able to get to the ls400 for over 32 years and counting! The summer here is usually 105-120 degrees. Best car ever. Only thing I needed to fix was normal things like oil, brakes, and tires, and a throttle sensor. Everything else works, a/c ice cold, etc.
Alex Lopez ehhh. I’ve done research and you can’t really do anything to them. Unless I’m proven wrong. I own one and man I don’t even want to mod it(enginewise) I put on coilovers and and bunch of exhaust mods.
Jacob Watkins dude I’d have to say this is mostly false. As an owner and enthusiast myself, I agree that the mod base for this car is not as wide as other platforms. However I believe you can do anything with enough dedication/passion/funds. I’m not sure what you’re talkin about, the k24a2 is often swapped into other cars
I have one that I need to finish up (1994), and just bought a parts car with a near perfect interior and lots of extra parts...when I get around to it. I'll be hitting up Alex and the Bois for some BC's and blocky wheels in the relatively near future (am I kidding myself that I'll pass emissions this time?) It's a sweet car and I can only blame myself for why it isn't on the road right now because full time job/kids/house projects/sleep/etc aren't really at fault when all I really need is a bad relationship with a case of Red Bull and a long weekend to finally make it happen...but I digress.
I own a static slammed LS400 and Highly Reccomend that anyone buy one of them, by far my favorite car, im now onto my 2nd LS400, its an addiction. theyre plenty fast to be fun and dust all the regular cars on the road plus the high end models of the 400 are more comfortable and luxurious than almost any other car i can think of. The V8 is by far the most reliable motor I have ever come across and it sounds great too.
Fun fact: the engine that was in the LS400 had actually been used in a different platform before the ls400. They ran that engine (1uz) in the 1989 Toyota Crown Royal Saloon G uzs13. The Toyota Crown always runs top-of-the-line new features years before Lexus ever sees it stateside.
it's also possibly the only car engine to be FAA certified as durable enough for use in light aircraft edit: I didn't read that properly at first lol, but the 1UZ was designed specifically for the LS / celsior and didn't debut in the crown first
Isnt the crown just an ls400 with a toyota badge on it? Or rather the ls400 a crown with a lexus badge. But either way the Americans only got the ls so thats what they will talk about. Just like the soarer/sc.
Luke Chapman you're maybe thinking of the celsior, which is really an LS 400 badged as a toyota the LS was designed from the start for north america, but 'lexus' didn't come to Japan until years later so it was branded as a toyota
@@indigoraceworks The Crown ran it first in Japan. I owned one. *Edit* Just to confirm I checked the paperwork on the Crown and the first date of registration was in June. The ls400 didn't go on sale in the US until September. The same Crown was also the first car ever to be equipped with touch screen navigation.
There’s a reason why I love box shaped vehicles, 2004-2015 Scion xB, 1991-1999 Lexus LS400, and 2012-2020 Toyota 4Runner. And the new 2019-2020 Toyota Avalon and especially Avalon TRD is a little bit of box-ish with more sleek look. 🤤🤤🤤🤤 my dream cars to own those one day
I just picked up a 1996 celsior (jdm ls400) in the fall, 30k km and mint shape for only 4k. Got some work eurolines im gonna slap on. Easily one of my favorite cars ive owned
I've owned two 98 LS400s so far. The first one was my main that was black with 175k miles. She was amazing and sadly sold her for my current LS460L. Beside her now sits a another 98 white with 354k miles. Despite the high mileage, I can still set a full glass ontop of the engine, rev, and not spill a drop. Their smooth, bullet proof, and an overall really refined car. I still prefer it over my L.
Im in Wisconsin I bought Lex 1991 Luxury Sedan 400 in 2020 and 2021. Red and white respectively. No rust or rot beyond the surface. One from Socal the other west Texas. One stopped running so I'll have to check the ecu out.
Really considering getting a ls400 now, exactly what I have been looking for. Nice v8 sound with a little power and its Japanese v8 from Toyota so it’s trustworthy . Thank you for the videos 🙏🏼
If I don’t get an E36 sedan this is the second car I’ve wanted. An all black or the Black and Tan two tone one of these are so clean. And the VIP style works so good on these, like it was made to be slammed. Also the one with the Century front end at 11:40 is so sick.
Man, my dad got a used 1991 LS400 in about 2001, when I was a junior in high school. It was 10 years old, but still so impressive with the technology and style. He got one in, what I called, cherry cola color, with gold emblems. He also test drove a similar year Infinity Q45. The Q was faster, but the LS just felt nicer and of better quality, with that oh so satisfying, air tight, thud when closing the doors. I would love to get one if th these cars. My dad's had some kind if electrical fire under the hood a few years later. It was so sad, my dad loved that car, and so did th he rest of us. RIP beautiful LS400 ✌

1996-1999 ls400 are the only years to buy period.Best of the best!I have the 99
I love my 90
I specifically want an LS430. I think it's the best looking one. And I'm glad they get slept on because that keeps the prices down.
So you want a Acura Tsx??
Alex Lopez ehhh. I’ve done research and you can’t really do anything to them. Unless I’m proven wrong. I own one and man I don’t even want to mod it(enginewise) I put on coilovers and and bunch of exhaust mods.
Jacob Watkins dude I’d have to say this is mostly false. As an owner and enthusiast myself, I agree that the mod base for this car is not as wide as other platforms. However I believe you can do anything with enough dedication/passion/funds. I’m not sure what you’re talkin about, the k24a2 is often swapped into other cars
Tsx always transmission problems
Currently fixing mine. Long road ahead but itll be SOOOO worth it
I have a ls430, lemme tell you, best car Ive ever had in my life. I've had newer cars and I love my 430 more.
Hi
The most underrated feature of the LS400 is the 90's era brick phone it comes with, atleast my '96 LS400 has one.
the editing style is the best
I have one that I need to finish up (1994), and just bought a parts car with a near perfect interior and lots of extra parts...when I get around to it. I'll be hitting up Alex and the Bois for some BC's and blocky wheels in the relatively near future (am I kidding myself that I'll pass emissions this time?) It's a sweet car and I can only blame myself for why it isn't on the road right now because full time job/kids/house projects/sleep/etc aren't really at fault when all I really need is a bad relationship with a case of Red Bull and a long weekend to finally make it happen...but I digress.
Can we have "sow you want a camry" video? 😅
Or es300 lol
I own a static slammed LS400 and Highly Reccomend that anyone buy one of them, by far my favorite car, im now onto my 2nd LS400, its an addiction. theyre plenty fast to be fun and dust all the regular cars on the road plus the high end models of the 400 are more comfortable and luxurious than almost any other car i can think of. The V8 is by far the most reliable motor I have ever come across and it sounds great too.
hands down best car to VIP
Um on my 3rd year of ownership of a 97 still love it
wait... I need to rewind and listen to that beat again... brb
I’m actually looking into buying my friends ls400 so this really made me want to buy it right now!
But..... but the ls400 came out in 1989.....
it's also possibly the only car engine to be FAA certified as durable enough for use in light aircraft
edit: I didn't read that properly at first lol, but the 1UZ was designed specifically for the LS / celsior and didn't debut in the crown first
Isnt the crown just an ls400 with a toyota badge on it?
Or rather the ls400 a crown with a lexus badge.
But either way the Americans only got the ls so thats what they will talk about. Just like the soarer/sc.
Luke Chapman you're maybe thinking of the celsior, which is really an LS 400 badged as a toyota
the LS was designed from the start for north america, but 'lexus' didn't come to Japan until years later so it was branded as a toyota
I owned an LS400 it was a comfortable ride. Black and chrome on 20’s with wicked jester exhaust.
🤤🤤🤤🤤 my dream cars to own those one day
*1990-*2000 Lexus LS400.
The best car ever i owned the 97 and 2000 and i love every single detail in it
I mean....Alex murdered this one! from start to finish I was in! 2 minutes in I realized my mouth was open!🔥🔥🔥
I just picked up a 1996 celsior (jdm ls400) in the fall, 30k km and mint shape for only 4k. Got some work eurolines im gonna slap on. Easily one of my favorite cars ive owned
91 ls400 still starting on the first turn, everytime.
I'm restoring one now. Still deciding on getting the bc racing extrem low or regular? All i qant is like a finger gap or little less.
So you want a Volvo s60R
Agreed
Hell yeah
Ooofff man I had one. Jesus christ was I poor by the time I sold it
I own a 2004 LS430 and it is hands-down the best car I've ever owned. 220,000mi and runs like new.
I love those Toyota Celsiors. Big Beauties.
Im in Wisconsin I bought Lex 1991 Luxury Sedan 400 in 2020 and 2021. Red and white respectively. No rust or rot beyond the surface. One from Socal the other west Texas. One stopped running so I'll have to check the ecu out.
day, 13513546351 of quarantine, the episode ive been waiting for my whole life has been released.
11 months later😐
Really considering getting a ls400 now, exactly what I have been looking for. Nice v8 sound with a little power and its Japanese v8 from Toyota so it’s trustworthy . Thank you for the videos 🙏🏼
Might as well do a so you want a Lexus ls430 now
This made me smile ear to ear thank you for making me love my car even more than before
I own a ‘96 Toyota Celsior. Yes, the Japanese LS400. Amazing car. It’s lowered on BC Racing coilovers, too lol. @mikki.20celsior
I wonder why LEXUS models weren't sold in Japan up until 2005...
So weird.
Why did they sell their new luxury models as a TOYOTA in Japan...?
Do GS300/GS400!!! The 400 is so slept on.
I still believe this car was far ahead of it's time
If I don’t get an E36 sedan this is the second car I’ve wanted. An all black or the Black and Tan two tone one of these are so clean. And the VIP style works so good on these, like it was made to be slammed. Also the one with the Century front end at 11:40 is so sick.
Did you get it?
video starts 9:20
Just bought a 1991 LS 400. I've got some interior work to do, but I love driving it.
When y’all gonna do the Cobalt SS? 😂🤙🏻
