My first National Finals piece in the 1st Section with Kidlington Concert Brass under Jeremy Wise in 1992 at Wembley Conference Centre. We came 4th that day...... good memories! 👍

Thank you Michael. Love Philip Sparke. Discovered this by chance just doing a trawl. Only ever played "Year of the Dragon" - tough going for a player of my standard

ITS OKAY but brass band has to progress past these fuddy duddies Sparke, Graham, Cooper, the occasional old Eric Ball piece if it is going to survive.

I believe brass band is progressing, no? There is a lot of exciting new material coming from 'new voices' like Neurohr, Dobson, Waespi and many others. In that sense, too, it is a blessing that the brass band movement has made and still makes a lot of progress outside the UK, challenging and breaking through not only the status quo of the traditional big-named bands but also challenging the concept of the traditional brass band piece. But Sparke, Gregson, Graham, et al they remain the classics and can co-exist nicely alongside all the new stuff. It's the variation that keeps it fresh and exciting.
