The rule in our house growing up was always that you had to try one bite and if you didn’t like it you didn’t have to finish it. I have a pretty wide palate as a result. My husband grew up more of a picky eater, so when we got married I enforced the one bite rule. He has thanked me for falling in love with onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs, and asparagus among other things. That's how you establish a healthy relationship with food! Lol I hate mushrooms (texture and flavor thing) but I'll try a new version of it at least once before calling it out for the absolute garbage that it chooses to be.
