I wish shurikens had more synergy with Unite move. Gren's unite deals enough damage to get most enemies below half hp, which is good for surf, but shurikens don't feel all that impactful
I would disagree on it. Bcoz gren's unite let you reposition which helps with shuriken.
Of course surf has superior synergy but shuriken too benifit enough from it.
Why does it need more synergy? Its a big aoe nuke just like Venusaur, Cinderace, Leafeon, and other mons. The only synergy it needs is making sure the Pokemon its on has enough kill pressure when the time comes
Greninja is a "hybrid" pokemon. When you use the build with double team and water shuriken you have to use the melee version of Greninja a lot: "In melee, Greninja's auto attacks instead deal bonus damage equal to 5% missing HP. Boosted melee attacks also dash through the primary target and increases the missing HP damage to 10%."
So, you use the unite move and then, fight them close (using shurikens to slow down them). The melee combat of Greninja is like surf (saving distances). If you learn to use it well, for me this is the best build because it has everything :)
This buff just gives more reason to play surf/ double team.
Since you get CDR on boosted w Greninja I just run rapid fire over scope and hard kite. I use the unite as a finisher after a shuriken combo instead of an engage
Yeah I feel like with surf Unite move can be an engage the finish off with surf for resets
But with water shuriken it's better as a finisher onto specific targets
You can tell that Cris is a Surf Greninja with little experience on Water Shuriken. Great advice for those who want to learn Water Shuriken, I was about to comment the same.
I wish Smokescreen got a cooldown decrease buff, its invisibility effect is ridiculous compared to other abilities and there is no reason to be a 13-seconds-cooldown move. Also, Substitute should be able to bypass the first jungle wall and the Unite move cooldown should be 123 seconds or something like that
As a greninja main I play surf smokescreen I totally accept what you told and I just passed hundred matches and I get at least 12 KO
I think smokescreen is 12 seconds but yeah, it could use a small buff.
Its 13 seconds because its invisibility is ridiculous. If the cooldown is too short then Greninja could pretty much escape any encounter or sneak into objectives too often. I agree a small cooldown buff would be nice but it has to be long in the first place because invisibility is such a powerful mechanic, not to mention the blinding smokescreen.
@@pengdaw2nd Yes, but most of the times you want to use the move to escape or to have a dash. Decreasing the cooldown to 10 seconds would be fine
substitute can bypass the jungle wall, just not the center part you have to go to the small wall on the left or right
When you play Greninja during these times, you have to put so much effort just to an alright amount of damage. Kinda sad
Just happy they gave greninja his slow on WS back. Also charging charm might help weak mons compete with stronger mons better given it actually does increase attack a very good amount. Unite finally giving us more options.

Still mid, no reason to play a glass cannon that does *ok* damage
And takes a lot of effort to actually do good damage

This moveset has never really bad you just seem to have some negative bias against it no matter what
Unite move had no synergy? It’s still a big aoe damaging stun that doesn’t need synergy to be good
And it does not need more range lmao, you have full control when using it AND a speed boost AND slow the opponent at the same time, more range would make the move truly no skill and free at all times

The biggest reason shuriken doesn’t match surf is cus the frames of tossing them doing chip damage doesn’t compare to the insanely fast burst of surf
Most played pokemon of mine always use this build
they should make it so that if you hit all the shurikens on one person, it stuns or bonus damage or both
It mostly the same, make the shuriken much more faster like hayate from aov or give it the passive like blaziken passive for every shuriken hit

Quick question, when ripping and objecting for greninja do you use close basic attacks or ranged?
If you're uncontested, close deals more damage (keep in mind the third attack will make you swap sides). If the enemy team is there, stick to range and look for openings to deter them.

Yes
Shuriken could have a crit chance, obviously lower than basic attacks' but dependent on Gren's crit rate
They should buff shurikens to pierce

Honestly doesn’t feel like anything, doesn’t really change how his health is quite pathetic and how he can’t really engage in most of the newer moms which you’re gonna see *cough* *cough* umbreon, and how many other attackers do his job but better. And I’m not even talking about Inteleon I’m looking at mew glaceon and some speedsters. He’s just so outclassed it’s not even funny
Anyway there were a lot of Greninja players but now there would be more hope now they don’t turn out to be liabilities!!

All they did was buff speed and speed reduction on enemy. Its a fake buff. Gren still sucks.
Now I am less sad about greninja trash buffs but more sad coz Cris wasn't satisfied to play greninja😔. I wish that day comes when Cris actually says greninja is best and better than ever lol. I m really hoping for that day to come.
The greninja buff was a huge nothing burger it seriously needs more damage other attacker’s deal 100k plus damage with a full stacked attack weight

Gren is so squishy that defensive items don’t help it survive much longer in a fight. You’re better off maximizing your damage

Shuriken + Scarf is better and you have to be pretty accurate with Shuriken for it to be effective
