Loved watching you paint first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee. Thank you for the inspiration.

I came to painting late in my life and just can't "stay in the lines". I love your work and have learned skills to have a style. Keep it up!

Thanks, Carol. Always paint in your own style. It’s the easiest style to paint !! Thank you for watching 😊

Long time no see! Love it! Viridian is one of my favourite colours but I can’t seem to make it look natural! I’d love to know your thought process as you do improvised paintings. I haven’t picked up a brush in months but when I did, I rarely had a plan, most of my stuff turned out like a dog’s breakfast 😂😂 I like the act of being spontaneous but I dislike the cruddy paintings I did 😂😂😂

Hi, Marc. Great to hear from you again! I love Viridian too, it’s a hugely underrated pigment. I always mix it, never on it’s own. With Raw Sienna makes a lovely bright green. With Burnt Sienna, a nice darkish earthy green. Also, with Alizarin Crimson for a greyish green. A touch with cobalt blue makes a great turquoise!!
I like to improvise when I’m not really sure what to paint, or struggling with inspiration. Keeping everything fast and loose, not trying for any real detail. Simplicity is key !!

Hiya Christopher, Thanks very much for another great and inspiring video. I think that I may detect influences of J.Fletcher Watson and E.Wesson?
What's the Moulin du Roy like to work with? Take care, David.

Thanks David. I’m a huge fan of both Fletcher Watson and Wesson. The Moulin du Roy is nice paper, although I believe it’s soon to be discontinued.
