Holy shit! I just watched this entire thing. Most exciting thing I’ve seen on RUclips. My god how have I never known this was a thing. I could watch multiple hours of this stuff
Just thinking the same thing - I had no idea RC cars were raced like this. It makes me want one but I don't have these dope-ass RC tracks anywhere around me haha
Man I see your comment just after thinking to myself that "I think that track looks like something my dog puked up"! Now the 2008 IFMAR track was really quite nice. Some soft pack, some hard. But the week of qualifying in crazy mud would have been hell in RC. ruclips.net/video/RIRwMnqDolg/видео.html
That track is so badass...nothing like that in the states...Hopefully when we everyone gets over being scared of dying we can get back to worlds racing.
the other day i started getting random suggested videos for pro RC off road and i have questions lol Ive seen indoor and outdoor races and i noticed that the cars seem to dip down in the air a fair bit before actually landing. Also seeing cars seemingly turn in the air. I believe these were all 4WD cars. is this effect accomplished by reducing / increasing power to a certain wheel or side of the car?
same situation here, got videos suggested and now cant watch something else. also a question: the track being this big... how on earth do they control the cars? like, how do they get perspective on all the turns?
Yes, all the cars are 4wd. They control the car mid air by applying more throttle to raise the nose of the car, and brake to dive. With 4wd, you can even turn the car mid air by turning the front wheels and applying throttle or brake. You had a pretty good idea of it. :)
I had a small RC when i was a kid that took 2 AA batteries. It only had one button. Forward. When you took your finger off the button it would go backwards in a turn. Thats how you turned. It went maybe 5 miles per hour. I figured out how to put a 9V battery in there. Thing went 15 mph after. I loved this shit as a kid. Still do
i was lookin to get a nitro buggy but no one sells them anymore. what happen to the niro scene? most if not all hobbyshops only sell traxxas nitro vehicles.
@@FlyinBentleysometimes there are brakes but normally it's all decel. Brakes are too much maintenance during a race cause they break really easy in 1:8 scale. And theyre 4wd. They have so much torque, 2wd they would just burnout.
This was one of the first races I ever saw. I’ve been following this kid since, but I guess this was his “15 minutes”. Sorry to say from then on he was an ‘also ran ‘.
I cant speak for world championships but for our local races a few years back they would change tyres at the end of the raceday or between races. The tyres generally hold up pretty well depending on the track conditions.
Can anyone give me details about these cars? I assume they have to be somewhat standardized when it comes to motor sizes tires sizes stuff like that. I’d love to buy one or something close, so a link would be awesome🤩
Here is a piece of trivia.. after the driver introduction, when the camera looks straight down at Cody’s car, you can see them pull up the body because the pressure line had broken in warm-up! The tune was corrected, tube was cleaned and reattached, and lasted the entire hour with no problem. Nerve racking moment!
You can get a ready to run 1/8th buggy for like $300-500 dollars. They come pre-built with just about everything you need other than batteries or gas depending which you choose. These guys are running unassembled factory kit's with premium parts. Basically you pay $500-600 and get a box full of parts and an assembly manual. The rest of the parts needed are up to you. These guys usually are running the top of the line transmitters and parts so their setups are well over $2000-3000 not including all of the spare parts and tools they travel with. But for a week end club racer you can get into the hobby a lot cheaper and build a fancy buggy later.
@@spacedog504 Thanks for taking the time to reply. It looks like a LOT of fun!!!! Just wondering what it would take to get it going to run one of these babies. I had a feeling the full-blown racers would be up there, but I'd only be at the hobbyist level. $600 doesn't sound too bad. Thanks again!!
2020 knows I need to watch RC racing all morning today. So, are nitro cars slower and a bit harder to handle than battery powered RC? It seems slower and more OOC than the video I was watching just before now, though it could be some sort of camera perspective thing?
I'd be up to $500 in spare parts by the end of the race. Dude looked like he was going to throw up at the end when he won. Fair effort driving for an hour.
@@NitroMike I had one when I was a child. Yes it may hurt but the purpose of them is not to hit a leg LOLLIO It hurts if you fell off a bicycle too LOLLIO
I still revisit this race and watch it start to finish. The last 10 minutes are so intense.
Close racing, most of the biggest names in RC, the diversity of manufacturers, an awesome track, what's not to love
My favorite hands down
Just got into the hobby a month ago and that last 5 min was amazing. Crazy how after an hour the race is still so close!!!
this is the 3rd time watching this race..one of the best track and pro. drivers..very nice race!

I would agree... Absolutely satisfying 👌
I think marble racing is what got us here. This is almost better than regular racing.
@@christopherrogalski8997 absolutely. The Australian stadium super truck racing is the only competition for me 👍🏻

that was insane - love the video - those final laps were crazy - amazing skills and drama
I was struggling to breath through those last few laps 🤣

God, I loved that track. So technical, and so large. I loved the look of the fencing instead of piping, as well.
Jon Cannon this is the sort of track a world championship should be held at
Yeah, except, in my opinion, the 2012 and 2014 tracks were no where near as technical enough.

those things hold an hours worth of fuel? I wonder if they handle differently as their weight decreases throughout the race.
they pit-stop for refuel every 7-8 minutes. Look at 9:10 for an example
