Apologies for the slightly blurry video, I accidentally zoomed in a bit too far. Also listen for the hilarious commentary by two people at the end of the first activation before the beginning of the second one, they were working on the roof of a home less than 100 feet away from the siren.
While it's been sort of over-recorded already, I had to go see this 1003 for myself because it does Hi-Lo. It was extremely loud, but did not vibrate the ground unlike the other Thunderbolts I've heard.
I was joined by Jeremy and Dominic (SuperSirex127) at this test along with Aiden (Sirens of SW Ohio) and Cian (BNSF Bandit). I didn't know whether or not we would get a second hi-lo cycle but we happened to be lucky and got one.
The tones/pre-test announcement before the test are unrelated to the siren test; those tones are for the weekly pager test at some of the fire departments in rural parts of the county.
I have a suspicion that the last string of two tone which came through about a minute after the end of the announcement may be for New Bremen's 2001's, since they test their system weekly on Saturdays at noon, but who knows. All that is certain is that none of those tones activate Wapakoneta's sirens, as we did not get any.
Wapakoneta controls their sirens independent of Auglaize County and tests on the First Saturday of every month at noon. Wapakoneta has this 1003, 5 2001's, and a Sentry 10V (the 10V is owned by a private factory and is on their property, and the 10V does not test with the county or Wapakoneta, as it never sounded). Wow. As a siren enthusiast, this is one of the spookiest sirens I have ever heard! And the fact that it's a good old Thunderbolt just makes it that much better!
I love this 'bolt, love how it mixes hi lo with alert. Most likely because the fire (hi lo) flasher was hooked up to the attack timer, which creates this one-of-a-kind signal. The blower sounds awesome too!

I absolutely love the sound of this siren. It has a very welcoming-esque sound. Maybe that’s just me, but I like it. A warm kind of feeling, due to the blower being heard.
I like the hi lo because it has a cool sound :)

Anyone know why the Hi-Lo is weird like this? Does the timer in the panel have something wrong with it? I'm just guessing, because I know the typical Fire signal doesn't sound like this
PlatinumEagleStudio's Yes it is an issue with the flasher. It is trying to do alternate wail but is doing steady in the portion where it should be winding down each time

Moonage Lift and Siren Productions It’s trying to run attack with the other, newer sirens in the city, but when they wired it to do attack they accidentally wired it to the flasher so during the on cycle of attack it does hi lo and during the off cycle it does alert, I think.

That's the same kind of glitch with the Hi-Lo tone like it happened to that one very high-pitched 1003 in Ohio.

The solenoids are working just as they should be. Everything is running as it should, except the controls aren't turning the chopper on and off for an attack signal (I think, not sure about the attack part)
