Great video guys! The new kit looks awesome and sounds are def improved. I am a bit disappointed they didn't integrate wireless like the DWe kits but hopefully its hidden in the module as a future update or have some plans for integration. They own DW now so it has to be in the plans, just praying it's not another 10 years from now :P
You can use the DWe shells with the V71 just like you could with the TD-50X. You have to give up one of your digital inputs though. Because the V71 has both Bluetooth and Wifi maybe it will be something they integrate with future releases. I have been told this product was in development before Roland purchased DW so that is why it isn't included. Could be that it's still really new tech and they wanted to see more of a track record before they converted everything over as well.
@@Edrumcenter Got it, thanks for the quick response and info. I was thinking the same, probrably want to wait and see how that tech develops before integrating it into their ecosystem. It will be perfect once they do and can't wait as wires suck, especially when breaking down/setting up if you use it live. I think it would really bring a lot more drummers on board for using these kits live, especially if they can use the Roland module/tech and don't need to bring a laptop. I understand they can do it now as you mentioned but will be easier and alot more seamless hopefully without extra gear once they integrate it all together. So close!!!
It one of the closest things to an acoustic kit we sell. At the same time it has infinite sounds options, is quiet so you can practice a lot more, has a 32 channel recording interface built in, an awesome metronome, and many many more cool features an acoustic kit doesn't have. You also rarely if ever break heads or sticks so the maintenance is much lower. Give us a call to discuss we have some kits in stock now.
If you were in the market for this or the DWe, which is a better value? Seems the DWe cymbals are garbage, but how would you compare the toms and snare? Also, do you know if the Roland toms are compatible with the wiring in the Roland racks?
The sounds are heavily influenced by DW Soundworks and Drum Workshop kits in general. While the Mimic Pro has a lot of Pearl kits in it and Slate 5 sounds. They both do have other sounds as well but the Roland has more variety. You also have a way better hi hat, snare, and ride experience on the V71. The triggering is great out of the box. The Mimic Pro as good as it sounds was always a bit of a labor of love to get it to trigger well depending on what pads and cymbals you tried to pair with it.
There isn't really a set program or anything but we do take trades. We have had a big influx of TD-50, and TD-50X traded in already and so we are pausing taking them right now ( October 2024 ). Because this comment will probably be read in November of 2025 please keep in mind that this is temporary. Feel free to reach out to our sales team i you would like to trade.
I think that the touch screen will become irrelevant in the future.. I think they‘ll make an app that you can use on like an iPad or iPhone to control it via wifi or Bluetooth like the digital mixers do these days. Great review :D
@@GSA_Drums They actually do have an app that you can use from a laptop to control everything. I wish it worked from an iPad though. That would be amazing.
Looking forward to my V71…thanks for shipping so quickly!! Do I have to use Wi-Fi for downloading kits? I’m hoping I can use USB, considering I’ll have the settings app on my laptop next to my kit. Wish Roland would offer a conversion head/trigger for an 18” kick and also surprised they didn’t release a 20” digital ride. I’d love bigger crashes too since my acoustic cymbals are large. My guess is we’ll see those within a year or 2….just a hunch. Thanks!
@@Edrumcenter Thanks for the info. does the TD 27 mount work for this new module? and also can you buy those clear cables that come with/ the new kits?

I've been try to get the high harmonics out of my digital snare on the TD27, like in Reggae music. Does this new snare and module have better positional settings ? I can't achieve that high pitched screaming harmonic crack like on acoustic snares. Not even close.... Great video, just seeing if you think it's possible on this new setup ? Have a great day !!! :-)
There are so many kits on this thing! When we do the patch playing video keep an eye out for that. The V71 allows sample import so maybe it’s a sound that can be added in post.

I’m surprised they have the kick patch now. They had to be making $$$ on replacement foam since it deforms/dents as soon as you start playing.
Any word on if Roland will make any additional size toms available? Having an add on 8" tom that matches would be nice.
No word on that. We will pass this along you are not the first to ask this! Thanks for the feedback.
Completely agree, roland need to bring out the 8" and a 16"

Does the wiring harness come w the v71 module?
The V71 comes with an owners manual and power cable. If you buy just the module you will need cables, and a module mount unless you already have them.

How many extra Toms can be added to the module... or combing 2 kits together... double kick etc! THANKS
The V71 has a total of 14 trigger inputs. Which works out to 4 extra inputs if you have the VAD716 that can be assigned to be a cymbal or tom.
Thanks for the info... What are the extra costs for the Toms and cymbals... possible sizes? I did not see any add-ons in Rolands website.

How so? Change the color? Or the material?
Both, zildjian makes an electric drumkit with real looking cymbals (with holes in them). I would like to see something like that on the Roland.
