  • Time to give the golf green a dusting so that it will fill in. The bentgrass golf green will enjoy the cooler weather and the topdress that I just gave it with some sand.

    Ben, can you start doing a “golf ball test” in every video so people at home can visualise the playability of the green. I know it’s nowhere near ready but I think your viewers would appreciate the progress.

    • @chosen1one930
      @chosen1one930 Год назад +1

      These newer strains of Super Bents don't stripe as well on the greens when you get it down to putting height which should be around .1005. These new cultivars love to be cut as short as possible. They still stripe but when you go back and look through videos of final rounds at Augusta national you can see how the old strains striped so much better.

    • @chosen1one930
      @chosen1one930 Год назад +1

      He really needs to mow clock wise, straight up and down on day, than left to right, think of it as a clock, 12 to 6 one day, than 1:30 to 7:30 the next than 3 to 6 than 430 to 1030 than start all over but from 6 to 12. This helps fill the grass in those spots, to get the grass to creep, eventually he will need to punch holes without removing soil and verticutting to get grass to divide into 3 to start new shoots to also fill in. It tames some time but that's how you do it... he did lower the grass to quick to soon, it should be gradually over time this helps fill in quicker. 25 years experience on course, I'm a superintendent of a private course with a million dollar budget, we have A4 greens at the moment but are switching to 007 or 007XL this year, basically stripping the turf than seeding because we already put in USGA spec greens back in mid 2006

    Hi Ben, it’s been awhile since I’ve had time to watch some of my favourite RUclips videos, yours being one of them, your property is looking great compared to the last video I watched which was awhile ago, I’ll have to go back and check out some of your older videos, Congratulations on 130k subscribers, that’s Awesome 👏🏻, you certainly deserve it and more, Hope all the family is doing well. Cheers from Janelle up in Queensland, where it’s still Hot 🥵 Lol 😂 and I’m still into doing my lawn, hubby bought me a little ride on mower to mow the paddock next to us and I love it, when I first got it I had to practice on it because it had been some time since I’d had to use a ride on mower, So I mowed a few of my neighbours yards for practice Lol 😂, it’s a Rover, don’t ask me what type, I just know it does what I want it to do and it saves these old bones from walking and pushing the mower up hill. Great to see what you’ve done to your place. Take Care. Janelle

    Hey Ben, I have a question for you quickly. If you could answer it it would save me a lot of time.
    I have an invasion of tropical buffalo in my couch. It grows flat and thick and blocks out my couch.
    Broad leaf pesticides won’t kill it and I want to avoid hand pulling as it will destroy 50% of my grass in the process.
    Have you experienced this variety of tropical buffalo and if so what should I use ?

  • @randyman8984
    @randyman8984 Год назад

    Oh man if you could top dress with some rich compost that would set it off I bet.. instead of having one big pile of sand maybe you break it up into three or four just lto et it dry out better? I know you sacrifice some space.
