- Time to give the golf green a dusting so that it will fill in. The bentgrass golf green will enjoy the cooler weather and the topdress that I just gave it with some sand.

Ben, can you start doing a “golf ball test” in every video so people at home can visualise the playability of the green. I know it’s nowhere near ready but I think your viewers would appreciate the progress.
Superb music choice. “Insert black plastic question for the YT algorithm”
I can practically smell that sprinkler water on the grass 😁
Yeahhh boiiii. There he goes dropping the “yo mate”.
Good to see the yo mate has made it into the last few videos 😂 looks good bro I remember this other guy who had one of them sand spreaders bit he stoped putting up videos I even brought a t shirt off him @the happy amateur
Man, you're crazy doing this by hand. Think of your family and grandchilds in future! They need you more.
But much respect from the german guy, think we're nearly same age. 😊
Meanwhile I'm in pain head to toe from working a desk job, prohibiting me from doing most exercise. I think Ben/ his future grandchildren will be fine.
I can imagine how great it'll look with stripes, can't wait to see you hit some shots in when all is ready Ben.
These newer strains of Super Bents don't stripe as well on the greens when you get it down to putting height which should be around .1005. These new cultivars love to be cut as short as possible. They still stripe but when you go back and look through videos of final rounds at Augusta national you can see how the old strains striped so much better.
He really needs to mow clock wise, straight up and down on day, than left to right, think of it as a clock, 12 to 6 one day, than 1:30 to 7:30 the next than 3 to 6 than 430 to 1030 than start all over but from 6 to 12. This helps fill the grass in those spots, to get the grass to creep, eventually he will need to punch holes without removing soil and verticutting to get grass to divide into 3 to start new shoots to also fill in. It tames some time but that's how you do it... he did lower the grass to quick to soon, it should be gradually over time this helps fill in quicker. 25 years experience on course, I'm a superintendent of a private course with a million dollar budget, we have A4 greens at the moment but are switching to 007 or 007XL this year, basically stripping the turf than seeding because we already put in USGA spec greens back in mid 2006
@@chosen1one930 friggin hell thats some next level youtube comments knowledge. What a read. 👏👏👏👍
I’m loving this greens project Ben. I’m in Seattle so just getting geared up for lawn season and love going through your backlog of videos every year for the past 4-5 years to get myself pumped! Really appreciate all you do for the lawn care community and all the great content. Keep up the incredible work!
this better than movies lol mate just love the progress bit by bit little by little and the techniques and methods are outstanding ..love it
I need to get me one of those top dressers!
those are some sick stripes
I wouldn’t be too worried about the algie mate. When I overseed my couch green with bent it done the same in a fair few spots & I didn’t touch it & it disappeared pretty quick
Someone's enjoying the mow :) I have a Bannerman "Mini Topper" topdresser, pretty much identical.. sure makes light work.. but the tyres are inflatable and currently on a puncture.. gonna swap for solids asap!
Awesome job on the top dressing there mate shame about the sand being too wet to use machine
Green starting to look really good not long now

Thank you for sharing🙏 This info will help me with my clients on my channel🙏 Damien from Ireland
First Aussie 😁. Ben , those are some Green Lawn Tips . 😎
Take a pitch or piece of metal and punch holes in those black area spots to get drainage and air to circulate down into the sand to help dry that out 😊
No schmiddy today!
Awesome vid as usual mate 👍🏻
The Green is looking mint Ben!
Schmek!!!
Hi Ben, it’s been awhile since I’ve had time to watch some of my favourite RUclips videos, yours being one of them, your property is looking great compared to the last video I watched which was awhile ago, I’ll have to go back and check out some of your older videos, Congratulations on 130k subscribers, that’s Awesome 👏🏻, you certainly deserve it and more, Hope all the family is doing well. Cheers from Janelle up in Queensland, where it’s still Hot 🥵 Lol 😂 and I’m still into doing my lawn, hubby bought me a little ride on mower to mow the paddock next to us and I love it, when I first got it I had to practice on it because it had been some time since I’d had to use a ride on mower, So I mowed a few of my neighbours yards for practice Lol 😂, it’s a Rover, don’t ask me what type, I just know it does what I want it to do and it saves these old bones from walking and pushing the mower up hill. Great to see what you’ve done to your place. Take Care. Janelle
Looking amazing now. Nothing but gains from here
Nice Ben Sims👌👌👌
As always, great video!
Looks superb. I remember when we used to topdress by hand on the golf course 😩 Absolute killer. Could you sheet over your next load of top dress to keep it dryer for the little dresser? Looks a handy bit of kit.
Dang it sucks when stuff doesn't go as planned. That drop spreader looked nice, but you didn't give up and got your top dressing done by hand anyway. Sometimes you have to work with what you have wet sand and all.
nice work
Looks great ben, bet using the lawn leveller in the heat is nice!
😂 TOP DRESS KING 🤴 🎉
Hey Ben, I have a question for you quickly. If you could answer it it would save me a lot of time.
I have an invasion of tropical buffalo in my couch. It grows flat and thick and blocks out my couch.
Broad leaf pesticides won’t kill it and I want to avoid hand pulling as it will destroy 50% of my grass in the process.
Have you experienced this variety of tropical buffalo and if so what should I use ?
Oh man if you could top dress with some rich compost that would set it off I bet.. instead of having one big pile of sand maybe you break it up into three or four just lto et it dry out better? I know you sacrifice some space.
Patiently waiting for a Kikiyu update
I have to ask again, why not leave the clippings and toss sand over the top? I just don’t understand removing the organic matter.
Ben , what speed do you think green will be on consistent basis ? After all the courses around our region went to hybrid Bermuda they actually had a difficult time of greens becoming too fast at times . This became a problem when they edged toward 13-15 on stimp meter .
Lets the views/subs go up and up once you get it mint 👍👍👍👍👍
Looking amazing, you may have answered this before sorry, but if this green were on a standard course would it be on the larger side? Or is it a pretty standard size? Bit hard to tell how big it is on camera
It’s definitely on the larger side.
@@benstrachan3418 That's what she said.
Great to see it ticking along mate! After it fills in what do you need to look for in order to justify grooming it?
When do you plan on having the green and rough finished completed?
would you be looking to verticut / groom the green in the future?
Howdie cowboy! Can you leveling with normal bunkersand from local golf course? Winter is leaving Sweden right now so im planning my second year grass season
Look up to the sky to see the issues , so many Chen trails
Pardon?
I'm surprised you haven't hired an Eco 250 at this point. It would be incredibly ideal for a project of this magnitude.
Where will the tee box be?
Can you imagine doing this x 18 holes. Geez!!!
If I put down some terramax & some super carbon on top of the 80/20 sand before seeding bent will that be good enough?
the fart sound is amazing
Is it better to mulch wen u mow wen u top dress
"no huge storms predicted". Bro, how did it go today?
Surely after all this effort, the first ball hit onto this green will be a hole in 1. 😅 I'll leave that with you. Sweet dreams bruh 😂 😂
2024 liv golf super par3 event
whens the foliar N start?
Has been going on since day dot. Weekly 👌🏽
You really need to start mowing clockwise and not straight up and down always. Also buy a spreader for topdressing it's far better for the green to be uniform
Must be someone out there that could provide you with a Ecolawn applicator?
Hahahah at 0:05 I thought I let one out.
The wett Sand is not so good.😂
First
Check ya ph
and we haven't got any storms predicted.... haha how wrong that was. Pouring today and the next 3 days
Every time bro 😂
@@LawnTips loving the rain. Trying to recover from a curl grub infestation 😢
@@LawnTips how did you back the water off at the spot where sprinkler overlaps, am new to this?
