3rd party support is definitely key to the long term success of the system, but personally, i think that backwards compatibility will be very important to get the system going on its early days
100%. Nintendo is in such a good position right now, because I’d be extremely happy with just an over all better ”Super Switch”; more powerful, better and larger screen, better battery, better joycons, better stand in the back, and backwards compatibility so that I can basically just *switch* my old Switch to the new one. That would be the dream console for sure

Yeah, that would be so great, but I believe GTA 6 is coming to PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

@@heroichitsuji It's frustrating when people don't fully read or understand what someone said. I never claimed that there will never be a PC port. What I actually said was that Rockstar is unlikely to release a PC port before 2026-2027. This "prediction" is based on their historical release patterns.
Its a fact, Rockstar has not yet announced a PC Port, as expected.
Let's look at Rockstar’s track record: they typically take a few years to release PC versions after the initial launch on consoles. Therefore, while a PC port hasn’t been announced yet, it doesn’t mean it’s not coming in the future. It will come for sure, just not close to the console release

The problem with the theory on more 3rd Party support, is that would have done well for the system in 2017... In 2025, there are tons of gaming handhelds out there where you can play any 3rd party game you want.
I will buy the next console no matter what, and I do think 3rd party support will help it, but it won't help it as much in 2025 as it would have in 2017, because in 2017 the idea of taking large 3rd party games on the go was still somewhat of a novel idea. Now it's not.
You great overestimate the number of people who will buy something much more expensive and with a much weaker battery.
The people who bought Steamdecks this generation were buying or even building their own custom PCs generations ago and rarely touched consoles.

I did most of my Wii u gaming on the pad. The switch is great for the fact it's the console. I can't wait for more SE games in my hands
If we get all Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach; Dragon Ball, then I'll be perfectly satisfied.

I am actually curious to see how a Switch 2 sales are impacted by a Steam Deck 2 which maybe able to compete on performance with a price cut due to Steam's willingness to take a loss on their consoles. I think a lot will depend of Nintendo's first party game quality. If they nail those AND have strong 3rd party support they could run with system sales again for sure!
If Square Enix is wprking games for the Nintendo Switch 2, I would love to see these awesome games come for it: Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix, Visions of Mana and Kingdom Hearts 4! 😊❤

It's kind of funny when you think they stopped trying to compete in the console war after the GameCube didn't do well, even when most people now love the little cube and now it seems to pay off. They others cant sustain themself anymore because high tech is too expensive. It took many years but these wizards always come back on top. They don't do war anymore but did win it in the end.

The greatest console of all time for me will always be the PS1. Nothing comes close to this rebellious little grey Cd-system for me
The thing is that those others have good investments in other sectors while nintendo relies on thier gaming sector,they have to do well in it since its thier main source of income.
Even it sony gaming sector and Microsoft game sector closes down,those companies will still operate,with nintendo it might not be the case.

Mike I'm gonna be real with you buddy I believe Nintendo's next-gen console will blow minds one thing everyone keeps forgetting is Nintendo has a New President and therefore we would be wrong to assume that he would definitely do things the way Nintendo always has I believe he will put a bigger investment into this system it will have more power than previous next-gen systems from Nintendo and I believe this is just the beginning of what he will bring to the table
