Along with being director Mark’s favorite animal, these angler fish are amazingly bizarre! They can swim like a fish, hop along the seafloor like a frog, and swallow prey the same size as themselves!
They also have the unique ability to attract their prey with a lure like appendage, which is responsible for their common nickname the “angler fish”. This is literally a fish that goes fishing for its meals…it’s pretty incredible to see!

Lets take some time to appreciate that amazing title scene. Great choice of title, great choice of ocean scenery, and the best sea creature ever to exist reaching up out of the water, grabbing the title, and yanking it back into the water, and the music is perfect. Absolutely amazing.

I like how the crew is apart of the show. I feel like cameramen and camerawomen and other crew members cool shoes don't get enough credit or any credit at all. These fish are so different from most others and are so cool. The giant frogfish you can tell was from a reaf from the bright colors and they have something similar to jet propulsion behind their fins, these things are awesome mark.

Amazing video! Frogfish are near the top of my and my husband's "Fish We Want to See" while snorkeling.
Frogfish has definitely taken top spot for my favorite fish now.
My favorite fish is still the mudskipper, but the frogfish is definitely up there.

I know! The first thing that came to my mind was "he looks like a Fred" too, so when he said Freddie I was like "psychic ability confirmed."
I used to be a little afraid of these guys due to the SpongeBob Movie when I was a kid 😂 I remember watching the behind the scenes story showing the divers encountering them and being horrified by their teeth.
But now I'm realizing...that they're kinda cute, and a whole lot more gentle (and dopey) than I thought. Thanks Coyote, I have a new perspective for these guys!
