    Nuggets fan but a hard core NBA fan for 50 years that has lived in many NBA cities. This is the most bizarre playoff series I've ever seen. I don't even understand what I'm watching. Wild swings. I get the 3 and the crazy variance between teams that causes can create really strange outcomes. But this was on another level. I will say that was the most disgraceful and soul less performance I've ever seen by a defending champion in a close out game on the road. Denver should be completely ashamed. Since we're now in the playoff twilight zone let me predict Nuggets by 60 in game 7.

    • @Litty2Shoes
      @Litty2Shoes 21 день назад +10

      Nuggets by 60😂😂😂 for real. It is crazy though. To me I think it’s because of how talented the league is all around especially with the 3 point shot nowadays. Good and bad games happen no matter how great you are and I feel like having a bad game can just be terrible a lot of time in todays game if that makes sense

    • @tompratt7125
      @tompratt7125 21 день назад +3

      @@jayy.8274 I don't disagree with that take. The Nuggets are a more skilled team than the Wolves that are mostly about size and physicality. The officials completely swallowed their whistles in games 1 and 2 and essentially let Minnesota mug and hack Denver at every turn. Game 6 was a return to that kind of neanderthal 90's officiating. But still that doesn't explain a 50 point deficit. That was just a careless and even arrogant Nuggets performance because they believe they can't be beaten in a game 7 in Denver.

  • @IsItEntertainment

    Tatum is more than a scorer. Great defender, rebounder, dishing out the assists. He can score more if team needed it consistently. Having a great scorer is nice, but the Boston team doesnt need him scoring. They need him to get his teammates involved.

    Great analysis. I will add, though. On top of Denver’s execution, they were getting significant outlier performances from dudes like Gordon, Braun, and Holiday. When those dudes are killing you, it makes the execution more simple and that enhances Denver’s functionality to an unstoppable level. I don’t think we can bet on that happening consistently and when it’s just the main guys who have to beat you and those guys are productive, what does the matchup look like in that case with MN’s defense? I don’t think we’ve had enough steadiness to pick up on consistent patterns when the margins are tight. That’s why this series is so weird and why game seven will be so interesting

    • @abcdefghijklmnop514
      @abcdefghijklmnop514 21 день назад

      AG performances are not outliners. you don’t watch enough Nuggets games to know he’s capable especially when he get those easy back cuts to the rim. AG has done this all last year playoff run. and every team will occasionally get a game from guys off their bench. those guys are capable too.
      they’re also getting outlier games from Jamal and MPJ with bad games. but that’s no excuse just saying it’s not as clear as “well this guy doesn’t usually score 20”.

      They could literally do it if just Murray and Jokic are on but it’s been so disappointing we really have not seen “playoff Murray” at all save for select game winner shots which is cool but you’re kinda like if he could figure out his matchups and look 100% we’d get that fatal Denver offense every night I kinda think he’s to blame for not taking the pressure off Gordon KCP, Holiday, MPJ, etc.

  • @ZingyCreature2
    @ZingyCreature2 21 день назад +6

    Tatum has so much room to grow, despite how great he already is! This is also true for Ant, Shai, and even Brunson. Haliburton too. All of these guys could win championships and MVPs. This league has so much young talent it’s insane.
    As for the argument that “Tatum couldn’t do what Brunson is doing right now” “He couldn’t do what Shai is doing right now”. Look, Tatum has a long way to go in terms of becoming a truly efficient scorer, but I think this argument is entirely hypothetical. Another avenue with which we use to penalize Tatum for playing for the Celtics. I’m with Jason Timpf, and I think JT is undervalued and overhated.

    • @treaura6297
      @treaura6297 21 день назад +1

      Yea even tho I am C’s fan, people tend to forget he’s only 26, and they are not giving him enough credit when he hasn’t been aggressive because the team doesn’t need him to. And as for the” he wouldn’t do what Shai is doing or Brunson,” Tatum hasn’t been in that situation through the post season bc his team is so well rounded and everyone can score so I do think that is a lil overblown.

Then, Denver attempted to come back by chucking 3s which failed miserably and Minni took full advantage of that with easy 2's and good offensive rebounding. Then the Nuggs just said screw it and put in their backups. I guarantee game 7 will be much less lackadaisical from the home team.

    Jalen Brunson is doing what SGA is, but better? Respectfully, I think that's a bad take. Brunson does have the heaviest offensive load in the playoffs and SGA probably has the 2nd most, but SGA does other things that Brunson does not bring to the table. SGA is defending at a far higher level. Brunson is doing worse defensively against inferior opponents. He's also scoring against inferior teams as well. The East is injured and weak. Celtics are the only team left there that wouldn't be a joke in the finals unless miraculously healed... but even then, they'd probably lose in 5.

He's just a weak side defender that gambles on steals (i get that he Is great at It but Is just gambling on defense he's never on pick n rolls forcin ball handlers to take bad shots) and he Is one of the main reasons why pj Washington had multiple 20 point games (he wasn't the only reason but he was the primary Defender for half of his points at least). Mabye that has to do with the higher load that he has carried in this playoff but definetly he aint played real Defense this series at all

    If KAT guards Joker without getting into foul trouble -- it allows Rudy to be the elite defensive HELPER that he is. Which in turn allows our perimeter defenders to aggressively guard Denver's guards. It makes all the difference in the world.
    Joker can't cook KAT 1v1 as easily as he can Rudy 1v1 because KAT is heavier and more athletic than Rudy.
    That was the foundation of tonights dominance.
    The second most important adjustment was ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK Joker and the Nuggets in the paint because they have zero rim protection. They tried it the other night but kept getting offensive charges called on them. Tonight, they stopped short of the defenders and made the simple lob to Rudy.
    Denver is all offense and no defense. Now that MN has figured out some things on offense its going to be hard for Denver to beat us unless they can get KAT to foul out early.

    38:45 on your first take, if you give Pacers 55 to 45 to win game 6 and Knicks 80 to 20 to win a game 7, that comes out to .45 + .8*.55 = .89.
    You’re giving Knicks 89% chance to win series based on the first take. 40:27 but you’re giving them 65% chance to win series based on second take. I suspect your first take which is game by game breakdown, is closer to how you feel than the gestalt second take where you want to give respect to the Pacers.
    Recognize that just by being up 3-2, even with just 50 50 coin flips, your chance to win the series is 75%. If you feel Knicks are better team, then their odds should be better than 75%.

    ant mostly settled for bad pull up 3s tn even during their comeback. he waited for double teams instead of attacking right away. that is whether he was in 1v1 coverage or the pnr. even when the game plan is to involve jokic an attack. coming off the pick he really had jok 1v1 for a min and would wait til defense recovered and the wait for the next double. when they didnt double he dribbled in place for 35 seconds and pulled. the 1 layup he took down the stretch he missed. he got a dunk in transition off of some1 else's steal. then he got some open 3s created for him that got him goin a tiny bit at the end. he did make 2/3 plays getting downhill for kick outs but he wasnt that impactful as a playmaker either. when he was doubled he just got off of it easiest way possible. he wasnt really playmaking by stretching the double or making THE pass that will compromise the defensive rotation the most
    im just saying this bc if tatum had this game i promise you we'd have to start a wrd counter for the phrase "pull-up threes". not to go to hard on you bc you did say youd pick tatum over ant atp. n i think somewhere in the early/mid 2nd quarter ant kinda snapped out of a lil funk and said eff it if my shots n he was great on that end but his offensive process was sub par tn.
    its interesting bc ppl think that bc ant can jump through the roof, hes this out of this world rim pressurer. he doesnt get to the rim or finish at the rim well enough to make him an elite rim pressurer. tatum does both as well, if not better. n we know from your analysis tatum is not elite getting downhill so...lol. sga would average damn near 30ppg in the paint w ants athleticism. THATS a rim pressurer. ja, kyrie, fox, maxey ,brunson etc are allbetter rim pressurers from the guard possition imo.

    • @taylor7264

      ant dosnt have the sga level downhill capability. as an example heck out this video from game 4 v mavs.
      ruclips.net/video/-N51e9RZXjk/видео.html
      go to 58 seconds and watch him cook pj. no extravagant moves but 3 things stand out:
      1. his TIMING. he times his burst so that he takes off when pj's feet are still shuffling. first he plants his right foot w/o pushing off. he just sort of hesitates on it for a second w his left foot in the air. then pj reacts by moving to his right at the same speed shai had been going previously. but as soon as pj picks his feet up shai pushes off the right foot to get by him. blows by pj without a fancy dribble move or even a change in direction. similar to the move jason was talking abt after game 4. the thru the legs w slight hesi go jawn
      2. his FOOTWRK. n this is a simple but underrated part of the game....so to truly get by a guy and maintain your dribble you have to protect the ball. its easiest if you get your body between the defender and the ball. the way you do that going down hill is - getting your foot thats opposite the direction you're going outside of the defenders foot closest to the direction youre heading. in the video look at how shai swings his right foot around to secure position as soon as he's exploded off of it. peep...after the burst off his right foot he takes a tiny step with his left foot that doesnt even get him anywhere. but its so that he has more time to get his right foot on the left side of pjs right foot lol i hope yall can follow that. master this simple thing and it will transfrom your game off the dribble.
      3. the ANGLE he takes. not only does he take a tiny fast step w his left to set up the footwrk, he also takes it wide as hell. the angle is wide enough initially that he knows that a. pj wont be able to beat him to the spot n b. that he also has enough space to get his body/right foot between pj n the ball. once he realizes he has more than enough space he uses his left foot to plant and sharpen the angle n get down hill more quickly
      you'll see pjs first attmpt to stay in front was so different that where shai was actually going that to recover pj had to turn his whole body sidewise and run towards the rim to stay attached.
      ...
      below are some things that helped me develop these skills.
      for TIMING and anticipation - a game called HOT HANDS. its a game when 1 person puts their hands face down on top of their opponent's hands face up. n you score if the person on the bottom can smack the top of their opponents hands b4 the person on the top moves them. if the person on the top moves them b4 theyre slapped the players switch positions. offense to defense defense to offense. tip : the 101 move is, you try to fake em out like youre going to attempt a smack and they will inevitably pull their hands back without you attempting to score. obv they have to put their hands back on. when they do, you time your slap to hit their hands the instant they put their hands back on. its wrks damn near every time. it wrks exactly like a a jab-go in ball where you jab step then act like youre headed back the other direction and then BOOM almost instantly you drive the direction you jabbed. ima gonna fid a clip of this.
      for FOOTWRK just practice swinging the leg around v cones then eventually in pick up etc..
      for ANGLES i think playing CB in football help. we used to do pursuit drills were they would start a RB on the sideline at the lien of scrimmage, and the CB in his position 5-10 yards off the line on the opposite side of the field. when coach blew the whistle the rb would sprint to score n the cb's objective was to make a tackle to prevent the score. on ly way its possible is to take a good angle. n that angle depends on your ability to gage how fast you are and how fast they are and how much ground you need to cover. def built up my understanding of angles
