- The heartbreak was heavy at Ford Field Sunday night in the wake of the Lions' loss to San Francisco in the NFC Championship. But before that loss, fans gathered to watch and cheer on their home team with unity, pride and faith in the boys in Honolulu blue.

When it works he's a genius amd fearless but when it doesn't he's dumb and blew them the game. Even if they make the fg niners still have chance to win. If Detroit makes that one fg then niners don't settle for 3 that one drive and go for the which is 7 and would discount those 2 fg that would been made . It's football. You live and die by every play amr decision. Detroit is hell of team and will most likely be back next year. Don't hate on cambel . He did what he thought was best and it didn't work out. I'm a San Francisco 49ers fan all the way. As of yesterday I am also a Detroit Lions fan. Why? The Lions fans are the most gracious bunch of people I've ever seen. Honestly, the city of Detroit and their fans deserve to go to the Super Bowl and win it all. That day will come sooner rather than later. Seriously, that is a great football team being propelled by great fans.

I'm a Chiefs fan and we lost that AFC Championship game to the Pats. We came back the next year and won the SB. Don't lose faith. I'm rooting for y'all!!

Also... different sport but the Colorado Avalanche had a streak of losing in the 2nd round of the playoffs but every year came back stronger and stronger. Eventually getting so close and having their hearts ripped out so many times bred a sort of resolve and determination that was previously lacking and they eventually took home the Stanley Cup. I was rooting for the Lions (as a chiefs fan) because if we lost in the Superbowl, It would not have been against a worthier team than the Lions. I am confident they will come back stronger and make the playoffs again next year.

Update - I still respect the Detroit lions BUT the dirty cheap shot on debo was nasty and was a direct attempt to re-injure his left shoulder, and the stamp on purdy after a scramble was a disgusting attempt to purposely injure our QB.
Also a helmet to helmet hit on purdy while he was going to ground 😞.
Not good Detroit, Nasty and horrible dirty plays going on there.

9ers deseeve this win. We got cocky in the second half and played like we already won. Made a lot of mistakes. But damn was it close and the Lions pushed in the end and closed the gap. Maybe next year we can get a rematch. Regardless, this life long lions fan will be cheering for the 49ers in the big game. This was on hell of a season and no one can take that away

I became a Lions fan this season even though I've been a Niners fan for decades. I said late in the season that I wanted to see the Lions represent the NFC in the Super Bowl if the Niners didn't make it. Yesterdays game was almost a no lose proposition for me. Your team has heart and character and that's all that matters. Great season Lions.

I've been a Niners fan for a long time. The NFC Championship Game was a game of two halves. First half, everything went your way. The second half saw a Niners team that wanted that trip to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.
I know your team had a lot of hard times, but the Lions are on the right track. I feel a Super Bowl trip will come in the near future. Had the Lions beaten the Niners yesterday, I would back your team in a nanosecond against the Chiefs.
As a 9er fan at the game, I had to take a break from the game 4 min before the half. It was unreal to watch. A second half seemed destined for a slow torture. They kept fighting and things began to roll our way. What a Rollercoaster of a game for both fanbases.
Same for me bro, I had to turn the game off when the Lions converted that 3 and 12 a few minutes before halftime. Been watching the 49ers for 40 years, and I've never seen them get their asses kicked so thoroughly in the first half like that before. It was unreal.
@redriderbbgun8018 I've been going to games for 23 years, watching since the late 80s. We have been pretty lucky to not see our team abused frequently like the Raider and cowboy fans lol. We are a spoiled fanbase. I really believe Purdy and company will appear in at least 3 Superbowls during his era.
As a niners fan, I can easily imagine the jubilation at the half, followed by the agony of defeat. Y’all seem great compared to other fan bases. It’s all fun but in the end it’s just a game we spend our own money and time to follow.

I'm curious your thoughts on the super bowl. I feel if the Niners can dominate on the ground they can win. The Chiefs have lost almost every other game when the opposing team has done that. Control the clock and stop Mahomes somehow.
@@kbanghart just a feeling I guess, more than anything. I have NEVER predicted the niners to comeback like that before. Not even last week, although I thought they COULD... I fealt like they weren't nearly as bad in the 1st half offensively as people think.
As far as the superbowl.... I really don't know. I'm not saying the niners can't win... but it just really feels like there's something weird going on with the whole stupid thing with Taylor swift. The whole connection with the cia and everything, then the supposed month plus old leak stating that after the chiefs win the auperbowl, taylor swift will be making an announcement about who she endorses for president.
Do I believe that? I think anything is possible. But on paper, the niners have as good of a chance of winning as they ever have.

Lots of little things cost a team the game. Chiefs did the same thing and turned the ball over. Only difference is they ended up not losing. 49ers missed a FG also

As a diehard SAINTS fan, we lost our 1st appearance in the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP game to the Bears in 2006. But we won it all in 2009-10. The Lions are winners now. Just wait and support your team. GEAUX LIONS

Shanahan did the same thing for us in the Superbowl but we found a great coach and supported him. Lions have the same in Campbell, keep supporting him and you'll have the best chance of a Superbowl

In the end, though, only one NFC team can go to the Superbowl. I'm not upset it's the team that I've been a fan of since the 80's when Montana played. The Lions are a great team too!

I'm a die hard 49ER fan, my 6 year old son came to me in the middle of the season and said, he's now a Lions fan. I said ok as long as your not a cowboys, Seahawks, Rams, Raiders or KC Chiefs fan. You'll be good with dad. Lion's hopefully next year. Unless the 49ERS go again.

Detroit fans should be proud at the caliber their team is playing at. Hold your heads up high! Now your team is a team to be reckoned with! The coaches and staff did a good job turning this team around!
In hindsight Coach Campbell and the Lions should have taken those 2 field goals when they had the chance. Those 6 points would have made the difference in beating the 49ers and going to the Superbowl to win it all!
Don't let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.
What a shame 😢 Detroit were unbelievable that 1st half. Just think HC Campbell sometimes needs to b cautious at times. Still an amazing accomplishment this season

Don't get too excited. The Super Bowl is already rigged in favor of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelcey, Taylor Swift and the Chiefs. It's no secret the NFL wants their next Patriots dynasty and the next Tom Brady. Niner fans will need to look up Steve Young's team for the last time they won a Super Bowl.

Watching this makes me feel bad for the die hard Lions fans, had the whole city / state of Michigan behind them, making history, a chance to make it to the superbowl and they blew a lead and lost it, Dan Campbell's hard charging go on 4th down mentality is a gift and a curse.
I was at the game and Lions fans were fun, excited, chippy, but always kept it respectful and handled the loss with dignity.
It may not have been their year, but the future is really bright for this franchise!
