Using gravity is not the best example to explain this or anything else because 'gravity' doesn't exist - otherwise a feather or a helium balloon would not effortlessly float upwards against a force, we are taught that is powerful enough to hold the waters of oceans to a 'planet' spinning through space at phenomenal speed - What we do have is density, buoyancy or ether, an object heavier than this density will fall through the air or sink in water, an object lighter than the density will float in air or on water.
