Akiyoshi received fourteen Grammy Award nominations and was the first woman to win Best Arranger and Composer awards in Down Beat magazine's annual Readers' Poll. Ya no encuentro aquellos pequeños entre los músicos, son jóvenes caminando hacia la adultez, a disfrutar estos momentos juntos inmortalizados en los videos, todavía no aparecen lentes para vista cansada para leer partituras: "La gloria de la juventud".
Eva demuestra aquí un talento y capacidad de composición a la altura cualquier gran exponente histórico del saxo alto en la historia del jazz. Un gran aplauso!

Hello Joan, it's been a while since I viewed your videos. It looks like I've missed out on a lot of action. Your kids have come a long way since I first got exposed to the SAJB. I'm glad Carla has gained the confidence to flawlessly solo thanks to her mentor; Josep Traver. Her solo on Django' 'Minor Swing' alongside Josep back in 2013 was my first exposure to her skills and she's come a long way since then. Here, Carla is a mix of Galbraith/Hall/Metheny. Awesome. Best to all.
The guitar soloist picked such interesting and beautiful notes in her solo. I think her tone is fine. I've listened the Akiyoshi/ Tabacken band's recording dozens of times and played it in bands myself. I think this is my favorite version of the tune. These young musicians sound like they've been playing together for years. How do they do it?!!!
For more detail: Most of these folks joined this band at age 12 or so (some at 6 or 8) and have played with the band till they 'graduated' at 21 or so years. They then can play in festivals and events with the band as they wish. Most seems to show up for large festivals---like this concert. So, most have played with the SAJB for 10 or more years. By the way, all of these years are well documented here on RUclips if you look around.

Toshiko came to the U.S. in the fifties to attend Berklee School of Music and appeared on the television show "What's My Line?" in 1956 !
