I looked into it. The metal knob on the left is there to adjust the amount of tension that the cutter jaw on the right comes down with. The blue thingy underneath is just a depth stop adjustment if you want to pre-set a particular cut/strip depth and be able to repeatedly replicate it quickly. I think most people don't understand the adjustments, and just assume it's junk, when it doesn't strip at all, or only some of the time, out of the box. You know you have them adjusted correctly when you can do a quick cut/strip without going slow like in the video. These should also be able to open up access to a wire mid run, not at the tip. So you can splice into or from that wire. Though I haven't tested this out personally yet, especially with thicker jackets. These are essentially a copy of the Klein Self Adjusting Wire Strippers. If you're interested, they have a video on how to use them properly.
If a new device has knobs and controls, turn em’ to see what they do! Round dial with a + and - symbols are for more resistance to force teeth to grip wire tighter. Blue plastic stop actually moves left and right to provide a stop for multiple same length of wire cuts.
No one seems to address the two adjustments on the pliers and just claim they're junk out of the box. Are they? Or are people just not using (adjusting) them correctly? Also, just FYI, HF does sell a set made by Doyle for a few bucks more, that is similar to the other set shown in this video.
@@DKTractors I use the Klein ones at work. I was in HF looking and gave it a chance. I'll be returning it soon lol, this is the only negative experience I've had with HF tools

The times it didn't work were when you didn't clear out the cut piece of insulation from a previous cut.
Thank you for showing me that I gotta get me a pair thank you for the video
Same issues I have with it, it's 1:3 of actually stripping the wire correctly. Usually just shreds the outer

You have to adjust the blue slide stop for different size wire if the wire is sittin on top of the blue stop point it won’t cut it
Thanks I’ll try it
Excellent review
There is NOTHING WRONG with the old ones. I wouldn't replace them.
Yep they still work well
Just bought one, they’re garbage.
Yeah I wasn’t impressed
I just got one and the reason I'm here is because I can't get it to work. I am an electrician, got for extra set. Junk
Do not buy these Quinn lol
@@Kirbythediver yeah I have better ones.
