Patt-k same here. My build is only about 2 weeks old and it started doing this yesterday. Thought it was a case fan or my gpu but I checked them one by one and all were fine except the cpu fan.
Yeah, turns out it are the bearings that are bad of the fan (which is ridiculously fast considering my build also was about 2 weeks old before it started making this noise). Anyway, I swapped the fan for a Cryorig H7, and I'm a happy man now.
I bought a Ryzen 2600 and can confirm I too get the same damn annoying sound. It does indeed sound like someone mowing the lawns outside as Osukaa mentioned!
Assembled my computer on February, and started to get this sound here in June. I checked HWMonitor and CPU is idling at 43-46C and boosts up to 60-70C under load (NOTE: My case has bad airflow, since SATA cables going from 2 SSDs are blocking, partially, 2 front intake fans). I thought my CPU was getting too hot, but no, it's just the cooler.
I have the wraith stealth with 5 blades and it makes a very high pitched rattling/whirling sound even at 850 RPM. If I press against the shroud the sound goes away. When I stop pressing, the noise comes back. It's annoying. You have to find the "right position" of the shroud... in some positions the noise is less noticeable (only in the evening, when the room is very quiet) If you remove the upper shroud, the high pitched sound doesn't goes away. The culprit is the lower, thin shroud that vibrate and makes that noise.
This sounds in the likes of my problem with my Wraith Spire cooler. It makes a really annoying rattle sound when playing games. (Doom 2016, Prey, The Devision...) Some say it is caused by the fan speed constantly trying to find the right rpm's.... ?
I had the same problem. I disassebled the fan, added lube and it became more quiet. You can easily take of that plastic ring with "AMD" text, and then unsqrew 4 bolts. There is a hole under the sticker, you can add lube there. Sorry for my bad english.
When lube dries it will do it again... to much hassle its not gonna hurt the fan and all of them make this noise its the bearings of this dpire model.. its normal just anoyying.. is all ....just use a headset haha
@@xxcrysad3000xx there is no problem bud..all spires sounds like this,i just came across this video and my spire sounds the same and every one that has one says they have it too,so they are build like this its the bearings they went with...another example is microsoft xboxs they all have buzzing sounds because of the fan and bearing they choice just like how amd did here..its not going to hurt it its more anoyying if you rly dont want it then pop off the fan and place ur own 80mm fan ontop of the heatsink and problem solved
I had a wraith spire, got this problem from the early days after installation, I contacted AMD and they sent me another HFS with 5 blades instead of 7 blades, the new fan got annoying noise from the first day of installation. AMD will not accept that there is something wrong with their HSF.
I just finished my ryzen 5 2600 build and have the same disturbing sound :( Especially when change rpm is very disturbing :( I was thinking that is form the CPU but hopefully is from the fan
I HAVE THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM i got to the point where i bought a new silent power suply because i tought it was that... but when I started my pc with the new power I just realized that actually was the cpu fan. Annoying as hell, specially at night.
OK, I just bought it too (R5 1600), it makes this buzzing sound, very annoying. This is what I would expect from a 40mm fan. It is not loud but a constant big ass mosquito flying in the case. Unacceptable for me. I'm replacing it with a SPC Fera 3 v2 or Fortis 3 v2. In other words the non RGB version of this cooler is bad.
Same here, I changed the fan curve to make it run at 10% when idle. I'm still thinking to invest in a quality cooler I will keep for next Pc builds. Shame on amd for such crap coolers.
There are two fan designs, 5 and 7 blade which are made by Cooler Master and AVC respectively. I have the same noise (7 blade version). Which one do you have?
It looks like that initial cpu batches came with 5 blade version (cooler master) which supposed to be very quiet (according to reviews). A lot of wraith spire reviewers have 5 blade version. It's a shame for amd because they switched to different fan OEM which is noisier and probably cheaper to. Cooler itselt is actually great, but the fan noise is making me crazy.
I replaced the 7 blade fan with the 5 blade fan , I have the 2600 and it came with the Wraith Stealth, I had the Wraith Spire saved and I only changed fans and the noise went away
@@HashashiyyinDex you just need to get a better cpu cooler my wraith stealth makes the same noise if you need something cheap and quiet get the "SNOWMAN CPU Cooler" from aliexpress and if you dont have thermal paste you should get "GD900" if you need cheap thermal paste
Mine sounds exactly like this. Can somebody give me an advice how to change the fan only (which one to buy)? I don't want to buy a whole new cooler for 70 dollars... Recently I bought a Noctua case fan but there's almost no difference because of this stupid AMD fan. Thanks.
I tried to mod the Stealth with a Arctic P120 Bionix fan on top of the heatsink with a DIY adapter. The fan is 120mm so obviously some airflow is wasted on the sides. My test with Blender rendering (100% CPU usage and 18°C ambient temp): Wraith Stealth with the original 5 blades fan (2500 RPM) : 62°C Wraith Stealth with P120 (2100 RPM): 65°C Wraith Stealth with Scythe Kama PWM 92mm (2500 RPM): 65°C The system was much quieter with the Arctic P120, but temperatures went up 3 degrees in full load. So, in my opinion you need a very powerful fan... at least 2500 RPM with high static pressure to get the same results of the original fan.
Nothing is wrong thats how the spire sounds... its how its build its why every one that has one sounds the same mine sounds the same too.. but its a free cooler you get from amd so you cant complain and its a decent cooler at that,it has copper pipes and it cools pretty well also its not that loud sure it does buzz cause of the bearings but its not gonna hurt the fan or reduce the life its judt anoyying but i use headset on my pc so i dont hear the musquito besides most fan have buzzing look at the xbox consoles all of them buzzes, its the bearings they decide to use... ah well.. Anyways to be fair this is one of the best stock coolers i ever got temperature wise...
This is because AMD used a Delta Electronics fan in this case instead of a Cooler Master, which is their usual OEM cooling partner. Basically if you ended up with this cooler you're just very unlucky.
This cooler is pure garbage. The noise it makes is unbearable. Honestly worst stock fan I got since I build PCs (98). I will invest in a noctua or something else. Btw I got it with & 3600X so they didnt care changing their design...
I have the exact same sound, it's super annoying.

enter to your BIOS settings, go to advanced options -->cpu section -> cpu fan, and select -> PWM
do you mean the silent mode option?
lol that cablemanagemtn
kinda ironic how ur also using a bequite fan next to it

is the 7 blade fan?
