  • SOLO FEMALE VAN LIFE - North Yorkshire Moors & the East Coast in a VW Camper Van -
In this video I drive from home in Lancashire across country, up over the North Yorkshire Moors and across to the East Coast of Yorkshire.
On the way I stop off at Kilburn White Horse and Rosedale Chimney Top.
What a day it was to travel and see this area at it's most beautiful, heather wrapped hills and views that go on for miles.
Next time, I get out on the Cinder Path on my foldable electric bike to explore a little of the area in the sunshine. I return with bloody knees, but still have a great time! Sue

Hi, I’m Sue from Lancashire, UK.
This channel is just me getting out and about in a converted VW Campervan, occasionally with friends but mostly solo. Fun, laughs, moans, groans, mistakes, and successes. It’ll all be in here!
I’ll share new places, hints, tips, any info I discover and whatever else I think you might find useful.
I began vlogging my solo travels in ‘Vanya’, to help me re-engage with life following the sudden, tragic loss of my husband nearly 3 years ago now. Working through a very complex grief has been the hardest & loneliest challenge imaginable. Some days it still knocks me completely sideways and probably always will. I really don't know. All I do know is that life can change forever and irreversibly in an instant.
By returning to the vanlife we had enjoyed so much together & embracing a new found love of video creation and vlogging, I’m continuing to build strength and balance to move forward through this completely unforeseen and unwanted next chapter of life.
Thanks for joining me. The company is nice.
    Sue x

Nice one Sue - you did better than us with the white horse we were left underwhelmed but you did the research
That Timelapse was amazing how the clouds were going at 90 degree’s to each other
That site looks a good one ….. looking forward to the next video.

Hi both thanks for watching. The viewing bench did made that stop off worthwhile. Shame about the gliding club though it would’ve made impressive drone footage. Not much of a sunrise but I loved the clouds too on that timelapse. I’d definitely recommend the site. Some great walking around there. Take care.

Wonderful ! My folks hail from Egton Bridge and Fryup. They were the Raws and Cooks from Eskdale ! When you do the NC 500, avoid the Great Western Pass, it’s a literal killer of cars , motorbikes and caravans. Our wee 2 berth caravan ‘Rambling Rose’ 🌹 died after doing that road. We had to lay her to rest in O’Brien’s near John O Groats , and we had named her after my late sister, he told us that his business had become a resting place for cars, motor bikes , cars, Motor Homes after the gruelling Mountain Pass Road. Was it worth it , yes it was for the experience . But just be careful in your beautiful Motor Home.

Hi thanks for warning Anita and RIP your Rambling rose 🌹. I don’t know when I’ll do the NC500 but it has to be done at some point in a campervan that’s for sure. Take care, Sue.

We were staying near Helmsley a few weeks back. We went to Byland Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey, over to Sandsend for Body boarding and into Whitby for Fish and Chips. I was showing my wife the Kilns as we drove over the moors past The Lion Inn. I did a Mountain bike holiday 12 years ago and we rode past the Kilns. I love that area, I could move there in a heartbeat.

Nice one as always Sue! Seems another unique spot for camping. I hardly visited this part of the country so thanks for sharing. Nice drone shots over mine ruins and also liked that timelapse at the end. But mostly enjoyed the view from that steep rooad, shame that battery had gone off. Sorry to see you've hurt yourself, hope all ok and looking forward to next one.

    • @CamperVanya
      @CamperVanya  2 года назад

Thanks Meraz. Think I read somewhere that drone flying around the area wasn’t encouraged and so I didn’t have the confidence to use it again during this break. The battery failing was terrible timing but I was on an almost vertical road so it wasn’t the best place to attempt to change it. The knee incident was fine really, I just couldn’t kneel down for a few days 😆

I have to ask though…when did you visit this area and did you visit a Sainsburys local in Scarborough…I ask because a couple of weeks ago when stood in the queue of our local sainsburys I was convinced you were a few persons in front.. when I got back to the car it was the first thing I said to Nick…’oh my days there was a lady in there the spit of Sue from campervanya’ now seeing you were in the area I have huge regrets not speaking to you or your doppelgänger 🙃🙂 have I missed the opportunity to say a real life hello to the amazing campervanya that is Sue?? Wow what a great site you stayed at and super excited for the next vlogs! Whitby way or Scarborough way this is a question we ask ourselves almost daily 😂🤣😜👍❤️

Hahaha I can confirm that it definitely wasn’t me in Sainsburys, Scarborough. Anyway if it had been it would’ve been me saying “Excuse me, are you Jill from Nick & Jill GenX? I’m your number one fan!”.
It was a great find of a site, not too big or commercial, just how I’m sure you’d like it. Have a great weekend both and thanks for the comment xx 🙏

Hi Sue that was a beautiful tour on the way to the fabulous camp spot . Like your hair by the way 🙂 The White horse was good to see and the Abbey ruins looked like it was stunning when it was all in one piece in that location . Helmsley and the Yorkshire Moors looked stunning too and the photo opportunity spot. It looked so lovely where the drone flew over the Kilns Shame that your battery ran out down the steep hill ! But that spot where you camped overlooking the sea was beautiful. Can't wait to see where you end up next. We've never been to Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay only Scarborough. Hope the knees are OK now . Great video 👍~ Anna 💕

Hi Anna hope you’re good. I still have to catch up with the last video I think. It was a lovely few days. Re the hair, my hairdresser has been having to cancel my last few appointments due to family business so it’s actually just overgrown at the moment lol. Glad you enjoyed the video. The Moors this time of year look stunning and the campsite was a great little find. Have a lovely weekend, Sue 😊

Hello, I have just found your channel. I'm looking at going to Yorkshire soon and you have given me a very good starting place. I've had a look through some of your previous video's and want to start looking through all of them all slowly. I have a question, I'm not looking at creating a vblog just a personal record for my family and I, so could you tell me the camera equipment you use, as in camera and mounts in the van. Again many thanks for creating a fine channel and enjoying life after such a terrible event. Happy days, geoffandsue.

Hi Geoff I use a mix of my mobile phone and a GoPro Hero 9 either on the mini tripod fixing or suction mount on the windscreen. There are so many different mounts & variations I sort of experiment but those are my usuals. I also use a DJI mini 2 drone. Hope that helps & thanks for watching 😊👍🏻

I remember the Kellogs tour of Britain riding up Rosedale Chimney Bank. A third of them didn't get up.

Hi thanks for watching and commenting. I bought my van & had it professionally converted just before the massive jump in prices which we’ve seen ever since. I’ve done a full van tour video which shows the van type I have and all the conversion details so you could use
that to help your research if you wanted. Plenty of conversion companies and prices on there and also the second hand market, lots of conversions there too to give you an idea of what’s feasible for your own budget. Hope that helps.

In this video at 1:55 , I noticed you had your bike set up in the back and not in the folder setup. Does this mean you have a special bike stand for it now? If so, could you show it in one of your videos so we can see it please?

There’s no special stand I just secure it like this sometimes with several bungees to the table rail under the worktop. It’s very tight and secure when travelling.

Hi Sue yes I am so far for what I need. I’m considering the wheels/tyres maybe need thicker ones for rougher terrain like I encountered on the cycle path. I haven’t pushed the battery to its limit yet and only use it when needed for extra oomph up hills etc. I still ride it normally other times. So far so good. I rode a few before choosing this one. Definitely try a few before you buy 😊👍🏻
