Worms Director's Cut is missing here, just listed in the timeline. Maybe it was too difficult for the author to emule an Amiga or he confused it with Worms 2 that was a real sequel while Director's Cut was an evolution to the original Amiga version of Worms. Director's Cut is only available on the last Commodore range of computers, the Amiga 1200/4000 (AGA architecture). It was a love history between Team 17 and the Amiga as they began their activities on it back in 1990 with games such as Miami Chase, Full Contact or of course Alien Breed. What a lot of people don't know is that Worms was created by an English high school student on Amiga 500. At first Andy Davidson named his game Total Wormage. When Team 17 decided to finance his project and publish it, it has been decided to rename it simply Worms. It's why Amiga version is slightly different from the other versions based on the PC one. Special GFX effects, different landscape generation system, etc. Of course Amiga 500 version is less colored than other versions that permit more colours simultaneously and there is no ingame music too as the game was available on floppy disks, not CD-ROM. Back in 1995, it was a shame that Worms on Amiga was not specifically for A1200/A4000, more powerful Amiga computers that should have allowed to enjoy versions as good as on PC or PS1. Even the CD32 (that is barely an A1200 as a game system) version was only the A500 version stored on CD with movies and musics. Team 17 confessed that they were not really satisfied about that but in 1995, a version compatible with all Amiga computers was the most profitable and the CD32 was not as much popular to invest in an enhanced version. So in 1997, when they finally decide to stop the game development on Amiga, they wanted to give to the Amiga lovers an ultimate version of Worms as a testimonial of love for the Amiga and the community that help us to grow up from a little studio to an international brand. While Worms 2 was launched on PC, they developed in parallel an AGA enhanced version of the original Amiga version of worms with colorful GFX and landscape import from Reinforcement expansion, more parallax scrollings and lot of totally weird weapons never used in any other Worms game. Director's Cut is a nice piece of history that all Worms fans may try.
Yeah, Director's Cut is a big one, but the author also strangely listed some of the mobile games but forgot most of the others. The Java phone games can be emulated on PC but perhaps he simply forgot or wasn't aware they existed. He didn't include the admittedly somewhat obscure titles, which would be Worms World Party Aqua, Worms Teletext and Worms on Facebook, if I'm not forgetting any others here. There were also some other instances where the platform listings for games were incomplete, for example Worms 4 released both on iOS and Android, not just iOS. He also listed Worms Pinball, Worms Blast and Worms Golf despite them being spin-offs but forgot to include Flockers, which is probably because it doesn't bear "Worms" in the title but it is taking place in the Worms universe nontheless. Finally, I think he could arguably have included Worms United, as it has some differences compared to the original Worms with its Reinforcements add-on, with slightly different UI, music and most importantly, the campaign mode had pre-defined fully custom-made maps. Even though the Reinforcements add-on had the same campaign, the maps were simply standard randomized levels.

I always found the relationship between 2, Armageddon, and World Party to be fascinating. They seem like the same game with minimal differences and additions, yet they released them as of they were brand new experiences each time. Today, these would simply be DLC or expansions to the same core game I would think.
I always considered Worms the mascotte op PC games, like Mario for Nintendo, Sonic for Sega, Halo for XBOX and Crash and Spyro for Sony in the PSX era.

Armageddon was the last good one for me as well *until I discovered Worm W.M.D.* this is at par with Worms Armageddon and brought me so much entertainment and nostalgia... I recommend it!

Not true Worms have tested 2d and 3d. Evry game has very different feel. But i agree that the 2d is kind of same but that kind of same is making it super Good.
Worms is a sort of a Schrodingers Cat of gaming because it's quite a niche genre. Players both want and expect changes between each version, but dislike ones that are too big, revolutionary or jarring.
Worms series has got a lot of parts, but if we dont't take into consideration console reeditions, mini-games (like Worms Blast), and those ones, which are almost the same (like Worms 2, Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party), we will have maybe five parts: - Worms 1/United - Worms 2/Armageddon/World Party - Worms 3D/Forts/4/Ultimate Mayhem - Worms Reoladed/Revolution/Clan Wars - Worms W.M.D That's all from this "long" series xD

@@leftright9022 Just because you're entitled to the 2D ones doesn't mean the 3D ones are bad. They did surprisingly well , their campaigns was the most fun worms had to offer (besides challenge maps in 2D) and the multiplayer experience was crazy fun.

Worms open warfare 2 (DS) is almost perfect. I love it, the characters, the music, the camera, the graphics, is just perfect. They could remaster it for phones and consoles.

Today I`ve just done some cleaning in the house and found some CDs. I was ,,hmmmm, what can be on them...?`` . So I put one of them, seen some filse from 2005 (!!!), checked them, discovered some games =)) and one of them was this one with these little scary, crazy (and funny?) worms =))! So yeah...didn`t know what was on CD...until today :I... (The game doesn`t work. Went here to see what is all about :I) First time when I`ve heard about this game. I'm not sure if you could directly record your voice into a 2d worms game, I could be mistaken. But I remember there was a Voice maker tool for the PC version of worms armageddon in the game files somewhere, could be in 2 as well but I can't confirm that.
