Man this could make for a chilling video game. You go down into the bunker, hearing some bad news but nothing to worry about. You spend time down in the bunker and then get the order to launch. You launch the nukes and then you simply wait to die. However long that takes.
Intersperse the time in the bunker with radio calls coming in and such and you could make for a very somber ambient game experience
Idea: You need to stop the nuke from launching but the only way to do so is to play Wario-Ware minigames that get progressively harder.
@@billyno-neck9576 2 kinds of commenters and they're both valid af
You could maybe choose to fire the ICBM or just not and you could have the game just be pretty silent after the first alert you just sitting in a bunker for 30-20 minutes wondering if the nuke will hit or not but after 30 nothing happened then you could decide to leave and then the game ends with a image of the world outside
@@hamptonhouse6189 The Duality of Man: Nuclear Edition.
Man the mixed emotions you'd feel in this situation. It's pretty much the end of mankind, there's nothing you can do but follow with the orders. I wonder what those operators would do after the launch, just wait for doom I guess, the people in that structure is probably the last people they'll ever see.
They would never press the button. They have no reason to. If you are going to die anyway, why would you want to become responsible for the death of millions of (mostly innocent) people in the last few minutes of your life?
You mind if I steal this idea and make a little point and click adventure?

Thankfully our opponents are idiots and so casualties are in the single digit percentages, unfortunately our politicians have for 60 years ignored SME's and our enemy's own words in favor of their own naive view, so we weren't able to force a decrease of that number and save more American lives in case the Russians and soon the Chinese escalate.

Literally.
If I had to launch and wait to die, I'd embrace the brothers and sisters around me. Humanity's last moments should be of love, not hate or despair.

If you launch the nukes first, you dont need no bunker. In this our modern times our bombs are clean, our sateiltes know where the enemy bombs are at, and those who survive wont for much once they are in the air. It is not longer mutual assure dectruction, who hits first wins.
...And a few weeks later every major city you have that are even vaguely near the coasts are glowing in the dark because you forgot about the nuclear subs whose job it is to be the guaranteed second strike that makes Mutually Assured Destruction actually work. Also, considering you've just broken THE biggest covenant in modern geopolitics, "DON'T START THE FUCKING APOCALYPSE!" EVERYBODY that still can attack will be out for your blood.
There's a reason that nuke first, ask questions later was basically never considered after the Soviets got the bomb after all....
rolf what a 5IQ statement. they would know once you launch meaning they launch aswell, so yeah its gonna be muturally assured. not like they just fall out the sky if you hit the other side first. they will keep tracking wrather the orginal launch station is blown to bits or not, so your only real hope is to try and intercept it with another missile before it reaches its destination, but considering the amount of nukes countries like the USA and russia got it becomes impossible to intercept them all.
Interception is key. If one launches, all will
Thats not how it works
