    You need an attorney, and let them hold management and the builders accountable.

  • @andreaanonymous5474
    @andreaanonymous5474 6 месяцев назад +16

    Call a building inspector immediately. Show them the problems and the video footage that you have. That shouldn't be happening in a brand new apartment that was just built. The construction company is clearly doing a horrible job and cutting corners. You need to do this so that no one else has to go through what you did especially since the same crew is still building the other units. You are in a position to stop this. The building inspector can help you.
    I live in a problem apartment from hell also so I feel for you. I have dealt with the same issues for years. I also recommend moving immediately. Don't try to stay somewhere like that. Those are huge red flags. I regret not leaving my apartment when the issues first showed up. It's worth the lost time and expense to relocate again because you will only have more problems in a place like that, especially if management isn't responsive. Don't try to stay there just because it's massively inconvenient to have to move again.

    Nah baby, I would’ve had to find another place to live. Too much foolishness to deal with in a brand new place, especially with the response from management.

    Please tell me you don’t plan to stay past your lease. Brand new place and they don’t want to fix stuff? Sounds like somebody went with the lowest bid on construction and doesn’t want to pony up for their mistake.

    Not sure how leases work in New York but in Texas you can technically get out of your lease if the landlord or complex does not provide you a safe and secure home.It is a violation of the lease agreement. I can totally understand why you would stay because finding a new place and moving again is a lot but I think if they had all those issues then what else could be an issue. I just wouldn’t feel safe. Praying nothing else happens. You and your family deserve a safe place to live. 🙏🏽

    This is exactly why people don’t move in to unfinished or newly built places. I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this. I moved to nyc with my 5 months old and I can totally imagine what a nightmare the move was.

  • @louisesunshine1286

    I was watching on my TV … picked up my phone to come here and say you need to find out who handles housing rights in your area and or get a lawyer immediately. They’ve shown they’ve done shoddy work which may extend far past what your eyes can see. You are not safe there and they are not taking proper accountability for these supposed mishaps. If all this happening now and the building is brand new how do you think they will handle future problems as the building ages? They are taking advantage of the fact that you don’t know the housing/rentals. You should tell them to let you out of the lease and find somewhere safe to live. If they refuse lawyer up… Trust me when it starts this way it rarely gets better.

  • @21kittensArtStudio
    @21kittensArtStudio 6 месяцев назад +2

    Ooof, that was messed up! I get that after that ordeal you guys must be tired and just want to rest and enjoy the home, but I think you should be searching for another place to live. To begin woth, the move in was delayed to to THEM NOT PASSING INSPECTION. This already shows that something must not have been right from the get go. It’s possible they then paid someone to pass the inspection, probably did a piss poor job on fixing the issues, so they could start moving people in as soon as possible (again, they didn’t want to pay for your accommodation when it was their fault) and not spend more money. In these few months you have already experienced serious problems related to the quality of the build itself , and they were still not willing to cover the full cost or at least most of it, for damages that are a clear indication that the company cut corners with this build. And why? Because it’s only about the MONEY. So any new issue you encounter, is gonna play out the same, because this company doesn’t care about people. They don’t care that you have a kid. They don’t care about your neighbours who have also had issues as bad as yours. As long as each month they’re getting the lease from all of you, they don’t care. Sorry for the long rant, but I just hate when companies do this. I hope you and your family can find a solution to this and that you don’t encounter any more issues with the apartment.

    I had to deal with this in my house and the landlord just went ghost for 2 years .. at some point we weren’t seeing them so we though pest control handled it until I had one run out while i was in the floor wrapping gifts 😅 I was so pissed especially since I had a toddler but every time we tried to move, we kept getting misses and people were being unreasonable on pricing and security deposits but we finally get to move now and i’m soo ready to leave this disgusting place especially since we’re having another baby soon.. I hope things get better for you 🙏🏽 all of this can definitely be a reason to break lease and get your money back

    The way that this is so similar to my situation!
    Brand new complex that got approved for in October. Original move in date was Jan 9, that got pushed. Signed lease to move in on February 12, that just got pushed back because the elevator failed inspection so they can’t get their certificate of occupancy. Move in date is currently schedule for March 1st now! They’ve sent me a video of my unit so it’s the only thing putting me at ease. But it’s stressful 😅

    Wow this is so heartbreaking but I'm glad you stayed on them! This is why I don't agree with pre leasing and buildings renting while under construction. They should have to wait until all construction has been completed, inspected by at least 2 different inspectors, and signed off on🤷🏽‍♀️ they putting buildings and homes up way to fast. Hopefully you can rest easy now... Until your lease is up and you can get out😅

      @royal504traveler3 is correct about probable toxicity, such as mold. Please follow their advice! And, please get an attorney to find your legal

    Honestly the way construction have dealt with these new apartment bldgs. and new homes are going up so fast that it is all about the money for them and not the safety. Alot of the times they are cutting alot if corners and im sure the rest of tenants are having major issues as well. I know moving is a headache but i would be out of there. Im glad so far no more problems for your family but i would definitely not resign the lease.

    From my experience a lot of brand new apartments are appealing to get you in the door to sign the lease, but it mostly crap. The appliances are cheap, the paint and caulking is a mess. Don’t let me start on the water heater.

  • @jazzyj6095
    @jazzyj6095 6 месяцев назад

    I was reading though some of the other comments. With all of the increases of rent, there is also an increase in poor craftsmanship. My experience is similar. The mice story is reversed. the week before I moved into my brand-new apartment, after the move in date changed, we caught 5 mice. We moved in July 2023. 3 families who moved into the building after us have already moved out. I have stapled a kitchen drawer bottom back on twice. one of my neighbors' unit flooded twice after she did her laundry. I am looking forward to see what you have done with your place.

If I were you I’d reach out to Brooklyn legal services tenants rights unit, and inquire about a claim holding them accountable for repairs for everyone in the building (if possible). Civil suits like pain and suffering aren’t always the best way to go and can be costly and time consuming for the plaintiffs. But you can try that too.

    If I was you I would try and break the lease early and move. Or if I was you I’d stop with the decorating and just let the lease run out and move when the lease is up. All these problems I wouldn’t be comfortable living there anymore.

    That is way too much to handle while navigating being new parents. A new building having mice is wild. I've lived in a new "luxury" building and ive never seen a mice, roach or bugs. You guys should have taken them to court. If you were the ones causing them a havoc they wouldn't hesitate to bring to the law. Praying that youre in a lesser stress today

    I’d think about moving again. Not a lot to look forward to but this is why buildings are collapsing. It’s also because construction people are hiring unskilled migrant workers who are cheaply paid and having a language problem to the extent that they don’t always understand instructions. Also there should be an inspection before they’re paid. In your case, shoddy work was covered up. So sad. But no one has the energy to wage an ongoing battle with a landlord asking top rent while trying to live life peacefully day to day. I sympathize. Maybe a lawyer is needed to refund you some money and you need to find another place to live. A lawyer will also allow you to break your lease.

    Wow....this is crazy. I know you put in work, but how they handled the situation is unprofessional to say the least! GET OUT as soon as you can. All the signs are there. This is why they failed the inspection. If you hadn't have been persistent with them you guys would be facing health issues.
