    VERY smooth transition by Dan Patrick, getting CWebb in AND out of the Fab Five talk. Also, great to finally hear Webbers' perspective on all this Fab Five talk.

  • @dannyheel1

    As a HUGE Tarheel, the thing I most remember about that game, is not the timeout. It's how thoroughly Webber dominated. Donald Williams hit shots and scored a lot, but that's about all he did. Webber was all over the place, scoring, rebounding and blocking shots. It was kind of scary. He was clearly the best player in New Orleans that weekend, and there were several pros in that Final Four.

      Pl howard when he called timeout they were losing by two and Jalen Rose ran from the ball!!

      NBA prospects from the 1993 NCAA Final Four.
      North Carolina: George Lynch and Eric Montross
      Michigan: Chris Webber, Juwan Howard and Jalen Rose

      Being imposed a technical foul for calling timeout when you don't have any left is too harsh of a penalty and straight dumb. If a player calls timeout with none left, you simply dont grant the timeout and keep playing. Chances are the player will travel or turn the ball over somehow.

    • @dannyheel1
      @dannyheel1 2 года назад +1

      He did travel, and the refs missed it. The penalty may be too harsh, but the rule is the rule. If the ref sees it, he has to call it

    Webber was what brought fans to NCAA basketball and the final four in that era. As brash and stylish as MJ, hell of a talent in a big man. Never got a title in Michigan, made an epic error, but that just shows his humanity.
    Him and Sprewell were DYNAMIC in Golden State. Carried the Bullets and Kings to the playoffs. Great PF with nice handles
    He should be in the HOF, no question.

    Jalen's disappointment in C Webb goes deeper than just not getting along and the timeout. Jalen feels like C Webb threw some guys under the bus and didnt step up to take ownership of his mistakes when the whole situation with Ed Martin happened and their banners were taken down. I can understand C Webb's side about supposedly being brothers and Jalen constantly talking about him in the media, but I can also see Jalen's side of...we dont even communicate so how else am I supposed to address the fact we were one of the most well-known, tight-knit NCAA teams and havent been pictured together since and why C Webb has taken so long to go back to Ann Arbor

    CWebb belongs in hof. Ed Martin "scandal" is only excuse holding him back. Ed didn't care where kids went anyway. He'd pull up to street courts with car full of shoes and gear and tell kids hoopin, take what you want. He didn't care who was superstars or whatever. He had shady connections but so does NCAA.

    Bill Walton wasn't the only one calling them thugs. You could say the exact same thing about the UNLV Running Rebels, same goes for the Georgetown Hoyas in the 80s or the football Miami Hurricanes. Those teams were "too damn black" and that racist fiber that America tries to say doesn't exist, couldn't be hidden. Yeah, five young Black kids is immediately "me against the world" mentality, because in some respects, that is exactly what it is.

    Very proud of Jalen and Chris" careers. The beef they have is a no win!...Both of them received benefits from an individual man with real deep roots in the community. When they got caught during the investigation; Chris tried to misrepresent and smear the benefactor! Jalen said nah bruh! Jalen publicly acknowledged the contributions the benefactor made in the community. That acknowledgement contradicted the story Chris told.

      286mic Then how did T-Mac go to the Hall before C-Webb?
      C-Webb has gone farther in the playoffs in a tougher conference, has a ROTY, and helped to change the PF position. Not to a drastic extent like a Dirk, Tim, or KG but his passing ability really made his game stand out in the late 90s/early 2000s.
      I didn’t even mention his culture shifting college career.
      If there’s a conspiracy against C-Webb not making the HOF, it’s not the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.

    Chris shold be in the HOF .....He is a 20 and 10 player . I think what hurts him is he played for two many teams and was only with a contender once . Also during here era , there were great Power forwards , KG, K . Malone, Barkley, Duncan , Dirk , and Gasol and he wasnt better than any of them except maybe Gasol but he has rings. It is gonna be tough .

    Chris Webber - cute kid, gorgeous grown man. And more integrity than Jalen Rose. However, Chris Webber had a better childhood, so there's that. #PayTheseCollrgeAthletes

    Reggie got the pitch to Lebron wrong. Lebron wants a front office who doesn't need to be told anything IMO. I think Lebron wants the piece of mind of knowing, KNOWING, the front office is on their grind and may be more knowledgeable the he is. He was right on about the Dan Gilbert letter though. And everyone on the Fab 5 should be in the Hall of Fame, those guys had that big of an impact.

      Jackson Anderson no he's not right, when you know enough details he's dead wrong. It's the real reason he won't go into any specifics. He can't handle his mistakes & tries to sweep his sht under the rug & gets pist & uncomfortable when someone reminds him his dirt is still on the floor. He really danced around the answer and is trying to act like Jalen spoke on it to further his career which is not true at all.

    Webber dominated in the National Championship game. It’s to bad his dominant play will be remembered by one bad play. He dominated on both ends of the floor. As a King the Refs admitted to cheating the Kings out of game seven. The Kings would’ve won the title that year. Webber was dominated but will always be remembered as an underachiever. They were cheated the same way The Raiders were cheated by the refs for the tuck rule. If he won the NCAA championship and NBA Championship he would of been remembered in the same breaths as the greats.

    I recall a Detroit writer who knows both Jalen and Chris and he said he wasn't surprised by their beef. He said Jalen was the most honest guy out there. Always kept it real. If you look at it, Chris totally disregarded Jalen and Jimmy. It is great he talks to Juwan and Ray. He forgets he got Juwan in a bad situation while they were in Washington having a girl accuse them of rape. Juwan was the bigger man and has forgiven and looked the other way. As much as I like CWebb, as I was a huge Fab 5 fan, he could've easily invited the others to the box to watch the game. Webber kept his distance. I hope they make it right.

    • @BDQ1975
      @BDQ1975 6 лет назад +1

      That is true about inviting the other 4 members into his box/suite at the 2013 NCAA Finals. Jalen and the other members wanted to be on the floor, with the other Michigan Alum, C-Webb did not have that luxury. Remember he had a 10 Years stay way clause from the program. The 10 Years did not expire until the following month after the finals in 2013.
      Reason why C Webb did not say Jimmy's name is cause King has spoken ill about Webber for several years after the doc and that finals in 2013. Jimmy has spoken about the events, along with Jalen about Webber not joining them on the floor of the Georgia Dome. Jimmy also has negatively spoken about Webber about the events of the timeout, along with Jalen. In doc, Jimmy said that the members of the Fab 5 never discussed anything about the timeout in 1993. But Jalen and Jimmy has since the doc. Both men has gone on record saying how C-Webb cried like a baby in his mother's arms on the bus coming from the SuperDome. They have said that it was that timeout that cost them the game, even though UNC was up by 2 at the moment.
      I know Jalen and Jimmy are close. Jalen tried to get Jimmy on the Pacers when he got cut by Isiah Thomas, same man that draft King to the Raptors in 1995.
      I also know Jalen's beef with C Webb, regarding Ed Martin. Jimmy's beef is part about the banners. If C Webb is your brother, what is the need to continue talking shit about it to the media. If you are trying to embrace your brother, Jalen and Jimmy are going about it the wrong way.
