This was a great camera. Before this camera I used the V-5000 and large cameras for stability but the Optical Stabilization really worked and showed that you did not need a big heavy camera.
recently my uncle passeed away i got the video camera its really antique the battery stop working altogether though but its antique indeed thanks for the video on it now i know i got a antique item
Sorry about your uncle. Yes, you have a famous camera. I am not surprised to hear about the battery. Hopefully you can get a new battery and try it out
I'm curious why do a lot of old tap video have that blurry line at the bottom of the video? I recall owning cameras from this era but I dont recall them having the line at the botttom
I actually have a windows 7 computer with a FireWire board that I use to capture the footage. The footage is then transcoded to an MP4 file with a program called Movavi. I wouldn’t recommend upscaling to 1080p because that is a different aspect ratio and upscaling often produces artifacts. I actually plan on making a video about the shortly so stay tuned!!
ok, I know I'm too late for the answer to your mom, but here's my take: "well, the long answer is: because it's not just an old camera, It's a marvel of engineering, there are a lot of people who like to go to the museum and are fascinated by all of the obsolete inventions of the past, and there are also many who are fascinated by the history of cameras, that's why I enjoy making videos about them. and the short answer is: "because it makes me happy, I love you mom.❤"
Too bad you overlooked its insert edit capability. Input another vvideo source for titles or b-roll and you could create a complete production. It was a real gem.
5:11 this is ironic, because an earlier version of this camera (1991's Sony CCD-TR81) allows you to set the date until 2021. How often do you use your TR101?
I have yet to see a PAL version of this. Usually there is an “E” after the numbers for the European version. If I come across something I’ll post it here
CCD-TR805E .... and TTR ignore my now-deleted last comment which mentions "CCD-V5000E" I got confused for a sec about which device was discussed after seeing another comment
Back when it was all about the CCD! Fun video!
This camera in the day was the shiznit ! Nice to see a survivor !

How true. Optical stabilization really changed the game and took away a large advantage of those big heavy cameras. Picture quality was darn close too

It broke -- unfortunately.
@@techtoremember8096 I understand, I had that happen with another device so I had to order a replacement.
Those bad caps again
@@techtoremember8096 this reply is very late but I hope your repair guy can fix it
Chunky but attractive - just like my music teacher from the high school times
Haha ! Good one
Great video TTR
Thank you !
Looks like the Panasonic PV-D300 vhs camcorder.
Same tape mech as the Sony GV-100 video walkman
Does anyone know the model name of the European Pal version?
