No surprise here. The quietest, most modest, most highly cultured craftsman on RUclips forges the most beautiful, precise hammer. Well done. A work of art in every detail.
Thank you so much! Though you should here me cursing when things going bad... :)
I agree, such high skills from TA. Love his work.
@@torbjornahman "Om han nån gång öppna käften var det när nåt gick på tok, då skrek han satans heta helvete fyfan" (Smeden, Bengt Sändh)
I can't believe that someone would give this master Craftsman a dislike on his video , whenever he posts a video it's my no 1 choice on the first video to watch, man you are amazing don't ever doubt your capabilities
I agree! Nice job
As a mechanic for 45+ years I really appreciate the quality and feel of fine tools. And yes, there IS a difference.
Charlie Roloff That is what my sister-in-law said to me the other night!!!
What a joy to see a real craftsman create a tool that will last over one hundred years.
That was most enjoyable to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I love watching a true craftsman at his trade.
I appreciate you showing all 4 attempts. That really emphasizes how challenging this skill is, even to those who have a firm grasp on it. Seeing more than just final product perfection, really hammers (no pun intended) home the value of the craft. Thank you for that transparency.
YES!!
As a beginner blacksmith its really motivating to see that even someone at this caliber doesn't get everything perfect first go. Makes it feel a little less daunting and actually seem achievable one day.
Torbjorn, you're human after all!! It's re-assuring to know that even somone as skilled as yourself never gets it right first time. Excellent craftmanship and a superb piece. Thanks for the video
Hwh
How do you know that he never gets it right the first time?
Does he always show his failures in his videos? I've only seen this one.
Still, he got further and further along with each time. And, they improved a lot too.
He certainly is a fast learner.
I admire your persistence. A man who has not made a mistake has done nothing. Well done.
One thing that I always admire about Tor is that he is very precise in all of his measurements, and it definitely shows in the final pieces. That is a high quality smith right there.
Thank you!
That was the most enjoyable 20 minutes I've spent on RUclips for a long time - it was therapy! You really are very skilled.
Thanks Henry!

It's not just the making of a hammer ,It's the knowing how to use ones hands to make and build something and everytime one picks up the hammer one says , I made this . Beautiful work and Beautiful hammer .
Less lawyers, bankers and politicians and more of people like you! Never knew a hammer could be such a work of art in the making!
You just made an anti semitic comment!
@Cheryl Gillette will take care of him
@@williepierce3933 er, no, you did.
@Cheryl, you're hilarious! Thanks for the laugh! :)
Lawyers, bankers and politicians don't make wealth. They merely rearrange it. This gentleman makes wealth one object at a time.
What a privilege is was to watch a true craftsman create this hammer.
Thank you!
A thing of beauty....what else could one say? Thanks for sharing these priceless examples of your creative craftsmanship.
Simply Amazing! I'm a woodworker, and I couldnt believe the time you put in just the handle, much less all the craftsmanship you did on the hammer! Love it!
Thank you Jay!
@@torbjornahman Sir; can I buy one of your creations? I say that only because I know how hard it is to put in all the time and effort to create a piece of art, and your workmanship is amazing! I would love to own one of your pieces of art!
Sadly I don't have much time for that... I do put up some stuff on my web-page from time to time.
I have a whole new appreciation for hammers, thanks to your craftsmanship. Well done, sir!
I bet it'll last a *lot* longer than the $1 hammers at a discount shop.
I now have a greater appreciation for power hammers!! LOL
I fall in love with the hammer. Dear mr. Torbjorn, you truly got two golden hands.
Excellent work! Very enjoyable to watch. And thank you for not having music. It doesn't need it.
Hey! I appreciate your time and work in this video. I don’t think many people would recognize how much work goes into an item such as this. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing job! The blending of Blacksmith/Machinist is a perfect combination! Your use of the power hammer is like a surgeon! Thanks very much!!!!!!!
Thanks!!

I see tradition, I see master craftsmanship, I see the way it used to be, the way it should be, a man, or woman, creating tools for life, as well as producing a tool that will last several lifetimes. I see peace and tranquillity within this shop, I see tradition that will surly be passed on to the next generation. My respect to you sir, long live the blacksmiths, all over the world, hammer time,
aloha.
Thank you so much!
What a beauty. It's now a family heirloom, good for several generations. Well worth the invested time.
Computer engineer and developer for years. Seeing this: I wish I was a blacksmith. Very nice and interesting, thank you for sharing.
It's never too late! :) I worked with 3d viz for 20 years prior to this...
@@torbjornahman so are you a professional? because i really envy your lab, but i cannot justify having it for myself :D
Cara bikin gembok besar
Torbjorn is right. It's only too late to learn a new thing when you are dead. I'm 42 and work as a service engineer for warehouse automation. For 2 years now i'm carving spoons as a hobby. Few months ago i forged my first hook knife at home. Just pushed the old chisel into the fire in the kitchen and made my first tool by hammering some hot steel on a little anvil nailed into a wooden brick:D
Right now i'm making my first forge in the old bucket. It may take some time, depending on my service travels, but it's fun!
@Torbjörn Åhman Thank you for inspiration and also showing your mistakes. The only person who does nothing, doesn't make mistakes:)
Brilliant woodworking and metalworking skills. That hammer is truly a piece of art, something to be very proud of.
Thanks John! Yes it came out very nice.
I've always liked the blacksmith. Like a carpenter or a person who works with clay. Much respect!
I always wondered how that was done. Now I know. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed watching. Nice to see someone who knows what he is doing.
Well, if you buy it in the store, it's probably cast.
I am speechless!
Almost like factory made!
Just kidding- way better.
Must be a thrilling feeling of satisfaction to make something both beautiful and functional.
Thank you!! I'm quite proud of this one!
Alf Iversen, I get what you meant by factory made, but this is infinitely superior: in no way a factory made one would have such quality build. ;-)
Neto Rosatelli
Oh- I absolutely agree, I was just trying to be funny.
In this instance I find an understanding for how hammers made in factories got their form from hand made objects- maybe they would look different if pure production efficiency was to dictate form?
Outstanding build on both hammerhead and handle!!!
You are the real deal. Craftmanship. Set the standard for knuckleheads like me out here whamming away.
Outstanding, That is a work of art! Watching you work is so relaxing. I really enjoy your videos. Please keep it up!
It's not just a tool. It's a work of art. beautiful!!
And that’s where $300.00 hammers come from ladies and gentlemen, worth every penny
I shall never be able to look at a hammer again and think "Its just a hammer.." This has been breath taking to watch and as some have said, so much better without any music.
diviner mehandi
I don't know what video you were watching but I distinctly heard music, the music made at the forge. When he dropped the hammer head after he hardened it you could hear the high pitched ring that tells you just how hard the hammer head is. Old timers don't need no Rockwell hardness tester. They just listen to the ring of the metal.
This is the tenth time I have watched this and still find is bloody fascinating, god you make it look easy
Amazing, more so because you could of just nipped out and bought one but you chose to make one instead - hats off to you sir you are very talented and a true craftsman, cleary at the time of writing this 275 people would of sooner just bought one
Thanks
I bought one at a second hand market really cheap, mainly because i don't have the knowhow nor equipment to make one, mine looks 99% identical … still really cool to see how this one was made, because mine was likely made 99% the same. Just not by TA, actually no makers mark on it unfortunately, just a weight mark... Clearly early century factory work, but still made by hand in just the same way.
Brilliant Tore , toppen , no music is a plus, you are a man of patience and perfection. I like your toys, the drop hammers are ancient and still working and your anvil is the biggest, most polished and loved I have seen . bravo

high quality in craftsmanship is all I can say-----Thank you for the video
You sir, are an artist, and while it hurts to say, a dying breed. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Your Son and generations after him will enjoy that hammer. Good job and good video, Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful work - in both metal and wood.. great tips, and a well made video, and all so calm. Best wishes from the turmoil of London!
Thanks for showing the Hammers that didn't make the cut. Nice to know the amount of work that goes into making such a wonderful hammer.
Thank you Ray!
The urge to grab it by hand...oh man especially when it drops! Awesome work!! Makes me want to start building my own tools!
Yes I agree thanks for NO music... A really good job. Thank you for sharing. This is how I like U tube vids to be to see the work done and subtitles. Thank you once again
Beautiful craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills.
state of art handcrafting, just awesome, thank you for sharing your videos, one of my favorite TV shows :)
Thanks! :)
It’s nice to see a real craftsman at work. Nice job.
Nice hammer! It's good to see the first three attempts, I always find the best way to learn is experimenting and making mistakes. Keep up the good work.
Muito bom cara vc é um mestre
Essa aranha e bem bacana.
That piece belongs on a wall framed in mahogany. It is too beautiful to be used. Thank you so much for sharing 😀
:) I might consider that, ha ha... na, it should be used I think.
Tools are meant to be used, and beautiful tools denote a craftsman who can afford to use them or who is skilled enough to make them. If the tool works well, that speaks even more highly of the one who made it :)
I fully agree!
When archaeologist's discover this hammer head in thousands of years from now, buried in clay and identify the maker from the maker's stamp. It will held using white gloves and stored in the National Museum for the general public to see.........Well thats taking it a bit too far!! Ha!! A fruitful imagination and a belly full of beer. Still, its a beautiful hammer.
Hey, the cycle from creation to rediscovery has to start somewhere.
I have enjoyed your videos, and really appreciate that there is no music.
Automatic subscribe. Special thanks for showing the failed attempts this is a lesson of love for the craft and life itself, you are inspiring.
Thank you very much!
That is a beautiful hammer. I was especially astounded when you pulled out the first 3 attempts. You sir are a manly man. I love your shop too.
Thanks.
Bird feeding's nice touch. I usually read a book while waiting on the oven.... Great Vid. Ty.
Impressive, interesting that the project took a few attempts, a lesson for us all. Terrific video.
Beautifully crafted. Thank you for sharing your work. The sound of that seasoned piece of hickory was wonderful.

Very nice work! Thank you for showing your other attempts.

Excellent job. Love it. Wish I had the time, tools, place and talent you have. Keep it up. Have fun. Teach others. God bless.

Wonderful crafting. You are the best resource person. May I have ever the same workshop you have!
Good hammer, being a blacksmith should be a very rewarding job shaping the iron and creating the most diverse tools. You are a master. Greetings from Portugal.
Wow! Beautiful work...one more! Congratulations, my pal!

Always such an inspiration! Awesome work as always
I hope you share your talent with the young boy.. Great job on the hammer!
Leave the boy taking care of the birds.
Its always amazed me even after working for a firm that made crankshafts, most were cast for budget, medium sized cars the forged for high end performance and diesel, they were essentially the same steel but the forged ones could take much higher torque simply by lots of bashing, obviously I know why, but what an amazing material.
Beautiful and perfect hand-made tool. Thank you for posting.
I'm glad you are back :) Hope you and your family are having a great 2019!
Thank you, so far we are doing great!
What a beautiful tool, far too good to be ever used, I would display it, and just admire the craftmanship.
Thanks for an unusual and interesting video, keep up the good work.
It's wonderful watching you doing the whole thing deligently and concensiously. Are you a professional blacksmith and a carpenter? Your patience and perseverance have paid you very much ❤️.
It was very interesting to see how your hammer head evolved until you produced the final stunning head. You were also skilful with your carpentry department. You have not just produced a hammer, you have produced an heirloom. I would very pleased if I had made that, although as another viewer said, it’s too good to use, however there is nothing more satisfying than to make a tool out of some random raw materials and for it to gives many years of useful life.
Did we just hear Torbjörn talk? A truly historical event.
This presentation was a pleasure to view! Very nice work!
NICE! Wow that is a lot of work for 1 hammer! Very Impressed!
I noticed that you are leaving some notes, this is a great way to connect with the viewers.
