Very cool video! Thanks for sharing. As a lifelong South Dakota boy, it is neat to see the different types of hunting done around the nation. A day on the kayak with a solid mixed bag is something I can get on board with.
Awesome river and scenery, and such interesting hunting style too. I’m from Louisiana and mainly hunt LA, AR, and TX, so this is quite different than what I’m used to. Most of my duck hunting has been confined to fields, lakes, and ponds, and always over decoys. Jumped some in the rice fields so long as I had good coverage on the back side of a levee but never by kayak. Started kayak hunting in college and fell in love with it. Would leave class at LSU, drive about 10 minutes to the closest levee crossing, and hit the oxbow lakes off the Mississippi. We definitely tried to sneak some but the river is so damn wide they would see us coming a mile away!
Awesome hunt man! Before this year I had only duck hunted twice but this year I’ve gone about 7 times and got 15 birds all wood ducks or mallards, and your videos get me pumped!
I bought one of the discovery 119 solos tgreevyears ago. Glad i have it now i got back into waterfowlimg. Made good use of it tjis weekend shooting a limit both days
I hunt my local river system frequently a good tactic I’ve found is in a situation like you had on the geese tie off ur boat and sneak up to the birds and it’s get you 2x as close, great content keep it up man🤟
The weight limit is 350 lbs on this one. I’m 215 and Rocky is 90. I’ve done it in KS with all that and been fine but it would be better to have a bigger one than this model, only because Rocky is so big. Most labs are 50lbs.
That’s it. I’m buying a canoe to hunt the CA delta up here. I know of so many spots that I can get to but it’s usually a decent boat ride to it. Maybe I can attach a trolling motor to it.
I would suggest putting a yak attack paddle holder on you rail to set your gun in. Also get some velcro side saddle shell holders and put them on the side, inside, of your kayak. I have one there and one on my receiver. Great shooting brother.
When you jump shoot hunt out of a canoe/kayak do you find it better to run a full choke or at least a aftermarket choke that's a bit tighter than a modified/mid range choke? It seems a lot of shots might be on the upper limits of shotgun range but just wanted your opinion. Thanks!
I was running a full but I do everywhere I go no matter. I’d rather shoot wood ducks with a mod choke to not tear them up but like you said some shots will be further out so I stuck with the full
That canoe/kayak seems perfect for that. I've been running just a recreational kayak, but that thing is what I need to look into! I've tried floating the river out here in PA, but need to get on some smaller water. Great hunt, love your videos!.
So pertaining to the regs you can hunt on any river within the 50 ft embankment or high water mark right? I've done some reading however I'm not sure, and I don't want to mess with regs in cali.
Awesome hunt. I was wondering who was going to pick you up and take you back to your launch point! 😂😂 that is an amazing pile of birds!!! A perfect bag for a solo kayak hunt. Your channel has been 🔥 this season. I’d pay good money to see Travis’ face when you showed him that pile! 🤣🤣 keep the videos coming
@@MidValleyMercenaries 😂😂 I could tell it was! If you come across those geese again in that spot, you should tie off and try and jump them from the bank. Just a suggestion 😁
Double duty for the float shooting: put a paddle leash on the butt of your gun. I have a rear sling swivel clip i put on mine. If you dump or drop your gun overboard its simple insurance to get it back
Hey T, this is my last month here in Cali and I got lucky and got hooked up with some good guys in the Central Valley who have an epic spot to hunt. You trying to hunt this week or next?!? I’ve got it all covered, just need you and the pup!

Watching these videos is the only thing that gets me through remote learning

Stoked!! Damn that was fun

@@MidValleyMercenaries why do u not have a dog

This was a great river hunt. Unlike the last river hunt that haunts us all. Glad you were blessed with a great day!! Nice Birds!!
Thanks!
Aww!! The river hunts. Sometimes the river gives, sometimes it takes. Definitely has its pros and cons. Way to get it done.
It sure does. Thanks
This looks like a ball! I haven't hunted a river for ever.
U NEVER kno until u GO!!!!
Thats one reason I love going duck hunting!!

So cool to just paddle down river seeing different sights all day while shooting some birds. Looked like a great day. 🤙🏻
Ya it is.
I am so happy for you. Great surprise getting those mallards. You never know unless you go.
Thanks. So true
Find someone who looks at you the way Titus looks at mallards 😂. I don't think I've ever seen you so pumped up.

Lol don’t know how I just seen this. It’s been awhile since I’ve been that pumped

Great job filming also. Floating rivers and canals are So much fun. I used to do that in a scull boat many years ago
Thanks
Walking in and kayaking are my only choices.

What type of choke do you use for ducks?
Nice on the double mallards that was awesome. Great content as usual.
Thanks!
Y’all ever been to merlo waterfowl ?? It’s in north California.
I haven’t
So why choose a canoe over a sit on top kayak? Is there any specific or particular reasons. Thanks.
For me it’s being able to put decoys and stuff in without worrying about them falling and I like being lower to the water

Tough to knock down those big western Honkers with #4’s, even at close range. They’re hard birds to kill!

I don’t say where we hunt but ya man get a yak out it’s a boat
