    You could also leave the blade that wide and it would still be good! Glad to see your putting out content again!

      Excited to be getting consistent vids out. We are actually hiring camera people to film.

    Forehead slap for that vise-keeping-the-eye-welded tip. Thank you!

    The two tomahawks I have forged so far I had the same problem with the weld splitting near the handle. I drilled a hole there then riveted tight. Flatting the rivet head I then stamped my initials on eather side it made it look kinda cool while reforcing the eye. I really enjoy your videos.

    As usual, I picked up at least one technique I haven't used before which will help me greatly, and for that I thank you!

    Glad your finally making new videos sir, although I still wonder if you cooked down that borax…😂
    I’ve also seen using a chisel on the 5160 insert to make little teeth that will bite into the body when assembling.

    Ok, the vice + inside welding trick is really good. I've had one split on me before (but that was with a questionable forge weld in a crappy propane forge).

    Nice video! What color are you looking for with the different steels before you start the forge welding process?

      Lemon yellow and just a hint of sparkles

    I use the same style of tongs when I make rasp tomahawks. They are decent for holding at the eye, but otherwise I agree that they are a bit awkward. Is there a good type of tong for making folded tomahawks and axes?

    • @purgatoryironworks
      @purgatoryironworks  Год назад +1

      There a few different ways to skin the cat but hammer eye tongs, made for the size hawk, is usually best
