James was a major influence on Michael Jackson who sang "I've Got The Feeling" in 1968 at the Motown Audition. Also June 25th was the Day that The US Soap Opera Another World ended in 1999 after 35 Years on the air. Ironically, they played Get Up Off Of That Thing on the last episode and I told US Soap Fans that "Last Xmas" was played on Soaps each year. I still remember watching him on American Bandstand in March 1983 and even then I "knew" he was the Star and leave the others behind and sure enough he did.
