  • This video provides a demonstration of forward, backward, and stepwise regression using SPSS. I begin with a review of simultaneous regression and hierarchical regression. Then I move to demonstrating the stepwise procedures.

The only thing I wanted to know is how to actually do stepwise regression in SPSS. When he finally got to it (in the last minute of the video), he didn't show the concrete steps of the process!!

Mike, when you entered the variables into the blocks was there a method behind that ? For example could have changed the order that you enterend your dependent variables into the blocks ? Ex Gender in block 3 and Anxiety in block 1 ? Would this change the model ?

Thanks for the video. I wonder for the excluded variables by stepwise method, is Beta In value the same as Beta value of the included variables?

When do I have to check for the OLS assumptions 1-3, including the model is correctly specified, sample is random, no perfect multicollinearity?
Before I start with the backward elimination (using all the given variables), after the backward elimination (only using my specified model) or before each round of each elimination?
    Thanks for sharing the video!
