    Build the most efficient intergalactic factory in space simulation strategy
    game Dyson Sphere Program! Harness the power of stars, collect resources,
    plan and design production lines and develop your interstellar factory from
    a small space workshop to a galaxy-wide industrial empire.
    Like Factorio and Satisfactory combined :)
    ABOUT THE GAME
    Dyson Sphere Program is a sci-fi simulation game with space, adventure,
    exploration and factory automation elements where you have to build your
    own galactic industrial empire from scratch.
    In the distant future, the power of science and technology has ushered a
    new age to the human race. Space and time have become irrelevant thanks
    to virtual reality. A new kind of supercomputer has been developed - a machine which superior artificial intelligence and computing capability will
    push humanity even further. There is only one problem: there isn’t enough
    energy in the whole planet to feed this machine.
    You are a space engineer in charge of a project launched by the space alliance COSMO, tasked with a massive undertaking: constructing a Dyson
    Sphere, a megastructure that would orbit around a star, harnessing all its
    power and energy. Only a few decades ago it was considered a hypothetical,
    impossible invention - but now it’s in your hands… if you can manage to
    develop this space workshop in some galactic backwater into a galaxy-wide
    industrial production empire!
    ABOUT EARLY ACCESS
    While the core mechanics of Dyson Sphere Program are ready, the game still
    can grow and evolve a lot - and Early Access is just the perfect place for it to
    reach its true potential. We believe that by letting players experience the
    main content of Dyson Sphere Program and actively interacting with them
    to collect their feedback will allow us to improve the game and make it
    much better than it would be without this Early Access stage. Our plans are
    for this EA stage to be about 1 year long. But that is not written in stone.
    KEY FEATURES
    ◇ Build a galactic industrial empire from scratch: start with a small workshop and improve it until it spans the whole galaxy
    ◇ Develop your very own Dyson Sphere, a megastructure that orbits
    around a star harnessing all its power and energy, from the first screw
    to its completion
    ◇ Explore a vast universe procedurally generated with all kinds of celestial bodies: neutron stars, white dwarfs, red giants…
    ◇ Gather resources in planets of all types: ocean, lava, desert, frozen,
    gaseous planets…
    ◇ Research new technologies to improve your factories… and discover
    the secrets of the universe
    ◇ Build mechas to fly, sail or jump through outer space and alien planets
    ◇ Transport materials across the galaxy to your facilities: thousands of
    transport ships will flow endlessly to your factories and back!
    ◇ Design the most efficient automated factory and production line
    ◇ Customize your factory and Dyson Sphere to make it unique
    ◇ Design a balanced power network, producing energy in all kinds of
    power plants like wind turbines, artificial stars… through conveyor
    belts, and you’ve got technology to help your buildings fit the grid automatically during the construction process. You’ve got the best tools
    COSMO can afford to build a massive-scale automated production line
    - the most efficient one ever seen in the universe!

    That is beautiful, Nilaus! You still have 50% excess hydrogen in your output. It will jam up eventually. I solved it with an extra splitter on the output H line, removing 1/3 of the Hydrogen. That goes into fuel cells at first, and later into whatever. I allow only a single stack of graphite in my buffer-- I want production to stop when red cubes are jammed up. That stack is also helpful after red cubes have been idle for a while; if graphite output is jammed, just pick it up.

    • @vtrista2165
      @vtrista2165 3 года назад +3

      Yeah to add to it:
      The reason why Hydrogen is in excess is because you are still making 1 Hydrogen every 4 seconds from the first process, producing a total of 3 Hydrogen and 2 En. Graphite from a single production set of 3 Refineries.

    Well, this came along at a great time. I have had issues with my red science build locking up using the priority splitter method Nilaus did in a earlier video and have to "clean out the excess" every so often. The other issue is it won't produce red cubes at a steady state. I am absolutely going to give this a try to see how it goes, but I also wonder about the extra H as well as I think that also breaks the splitting method as well without some sort of storage tank for the extra H that will have to be dealt with later. (Right now, I am working on fuel cells to use the excess, but have just gotten a titanium build going on the lava planet, so it isn't up and running yet). Either way, great work as usual Nilaus. Very clean and useful. Looking forward to more DSP content. I think this game is right in your wheelhouse and you have knocked it out of the park with your content.

    I have set this up for myself and spent about 3 hours trying to get it to stop stalling out!
    I finally figured out what was happening ... I did not notice if you did this in your video nor did I hear you say anything about it ...
    But the splitters between each set of two need to be sorting HYDROGEN only or the whole thing randomly breaks down because it randomly sends graphite and oil across if you do not specify!

    Thanks for this!
    Just one thing, I've done the math and, unless I've made a mistake, you actually make more Hydrogen than Carbon with that setup, so it will eventually back up and the system will clog up and stop.
    Every 4 second cycle you have:
    One refinery taking 2 Crude Oil and making 2 Refined and 1 Hydrogen.
    Two refineries taking a total of 4 Hydrogen and 2 Refined Oil and making 2 Carbon and 6 Hydrogen.
    In total you're consuming:
    2 Crude Oil, 2 Refined Oil and 4 Hydrogen,
    while making:
    2 Refined Oil, 2 Carbon and 7 Hydrogen.
    Net: -2 Crude Oil, +2 Carbon, +3 Hydrogen and 0 Refined Oil.
    The red cubes use equal amounts of C and H. So you will very slowly be stocking up on H. If you consume all of the Carbon you'll have left 1 Hydrogen every 4 seconds. 10,000 per container, your stack of 3 containers will take 120,000 seconds to fill up. That's 2,000 minutes or about 33 hours 20 minutes. *Edit: actually, that's 1 Hydrogen every 4 seconds for each setup of 3 refineries. So since you have that times 4, you have a surplus of 1 H per second, so it should fill up all the containers in 8 hours 20 minutes.
    I'm thinking that there's a way one can make infinite free red cubes by setting up a power station that only uses oil products, and the whole system is self-sufficient. Sure, it won't be the fastest way of making the cubes, and there are other sources of free energy in the early game like solar and wind, but I'll try to figure out how much science one can make from 1 oil using a system like this. Should be fun. :)

    • @spc-tr
      @spc-tr 4 года назад +4

      The way I did my setup was to use both the x-ray cracking recipe and also use the regular smelting to complement it and thus achieve 0 surplus. To make a full belt of red cubes, I needed 32 x-rays, 16 plasmas and 8 smelters. This way there is no waste of hydrogen.
      Also, can confirm your math here: factoriolab.github.io/list#p=e-matrix*1&s=dsp******1

    • @obsidianmoon13
      @obsidianmoon13 4 года назад +3

      Later on, it is good to use the excess hydrogen to make hydrogen fuel cells then feed those into the thermal generators. A lot easier and quicker than ringing the equator with solar panels and just as unlimited.

    • @kiwidude68
      @kiwidude68 4 года назад

      @@spc-tr Not sure about your math? Using that factoriolab link shows that using the number of x-rays/plasmas and smelters you mention, produces 4 red cubes/sec (not a full belt which would be 6/sec) and has an excess of hydrogen of 1.4/s (it produces 8 graphite and 9.4 Hydrogen/s). What did you do differently to that recipe to achieve 0 surplus?

    • @spc-tr
      @spc-tr 4 года назад +1

      @@kiwidude68 like i said, the trick is to use BOTH the x-ray cracking AND the regular graphite smelting recipe. Factorio lab doesn't let you turn recipes on and off on a per-factory basis, only globally, thats why you can't see the actual results in there.
      In order to combine 2 different recipes, you have to open 2 tabs.
      one like this , for the hydrogen part: factoriolab.github.io/list#p=e-matrix*360&i=graphite*1&s=dsp*gas-giant+graphene-lv2+ice-giant+photon-formula
      (notice the 480 graphite surplus)
      another like this for the graphite part (720 - 480 = 240)
      factoriolab.github.io/list#p=graphite*240&i=hydrogen*1&s=dsp*gas-giant+graphene-lv2+ice-giant+photon-formula+x-ray
      Hope this makes it clear.
      What i did in terms of setup, was to merge the output graphite belts with priority set on the one coming from the refineries, so it wouldn't clog and stop the hydrogen production.
      As for the setup for the hydrogen loop, you can use a buffer, or not, simply using a splitter with 2 inputs and 2 outputs works. What i did was take hydrogens from the x-rays and the plasmas, with priority on the plasmas, output with priority for the xrays and the remainder goes to the labs.
      Works great and doesnt clog.

    My friend and I are doing a multiplayer mod run, and he had a blueprint for each refinery building with a layout for importing oil and exporting the hydrogen and refined oil. During our run, we saw that we could get resources from xray cracking but I'm like "nahhh, we already got this system going, it wouldn't be worth it." Well that was *before* I got a eureka moment from this video that the xray cracking not only gave hydrogen, but it *also* gave that necessary graphite-- which is conveniently what you need for the other half of red cubes! And it's not like you need that refined oil from that location because there are always other crude oil seeps that you can harvest for that.
    I am absolutely liking this video. Blue cubes were never an issue to make, but red cubes were always that first hurdle because it felt like I had to spam the absolute crap out of refineries in a line and ruin my construction areas just to get decent hydrogen production. But this, this is just pure efficiency right here!

    It gives out a mild amount more hydrogen than graphite. You can see at 16:36 the belt on the left of the screen give 2 hydrogen to 1 graphite. I rebuilt this in my world and it does sadly very very slowly overflow your system.
    I ran into this same issue and short of burning it i dont know what to do :/
    Edit: so i did some further testing on this design (i love it by the way so compact) and you need to siphon off 1 hydrogen per second (so a mk2 sorter after the sorter/filter) that travels 3 grid units) the the system perfectly stays levels on both graphite and hydrogen. And you can burn or use this excess 1 hydrogen per sec wherever you wish

    • @Moerdock
      @Moerdock 4 года назад +3

      I Think the way he does it isnt the right way...how about just inputing the refined oil and jumpstarting the prozess...after that selffeeding the hydrogen with a sorter putting it out and another sorter behind that putting it in again...then the system will output exactly 1 graphite and 1 hydrogen and you can deal with the hydrogen from the first cracking process eintirely seprate to the second cracking prozess which will never overfeed or starve itself this way...thats what i am doing in my world an is imho the only right way to do it...excess hydrogen then gets burned or further processed into deuterium...which has its own use later on... just my two cents tho...

    I do the refineries a bit different. I have a completely symmetrical build and what I do is that I put a Hydrogen-Filter sorter after the output sorter which just pulls Hydrogen back in.
    That guarantees that the things can always run and obviously once the build is saturated the Hydrogen will just go past this sorter. With this there is no need for the startup trick.

  • @madmerlyn
    @madmerlyn 4 года назад

    I did the math on these for anyone interested. For each 6 refinery module (2 crude processing, 4 x-ray cracking) you will get an output of 30m/H and 15/m eG.
    This means for output a 6/s mk1 belt can support up to 3/s crude input (3 modules, 18 refineries), with 1 caveat. Your total output with 3 of these modules will be about 9 items per second. But, you can handle this with mk1 belts by splitting the output belts up into 2 sides of your filter splitter, since you will be at 6/s hydrogen it won't back up because you technically have 12/s input and output on the splitter. I hope I explained that well enough for everyone to understand, it looks a little complicated, lol.

    I like the compactness of this design, but I'm not a big fan of mixed item belts. Another possible issue with this is that it only works with lvl 1 sorters, lvl 3 sorter with stacking might break the feeding cycle. Also one thing to note, any x-ray fracking setup WON'T produce hydrogen and graphite in a 1:1 ratio, its 1.5:1, so for each 2 refineries doing plasma refining you'll need 1 smelter producing graphite to make it 1:1. 1 refinery produces 30 refined oil and 15 hydrogen a minute. 2 x ray refineries consume 30 refined oil and 60 hydrogen, but they produce 90 hydrogen and 30 graphite. So you end up with 15 - 60 + 90 = 45 hydrogen and 30 graphite per minute for 1 set. This is easy to verify in game as your hydrogen WILL back up, but you probably didn't notice due to the buffering.

      @@9thsfarchangel Other planets in the starting system don't have oil. At least not usually - it's possible that you can roll oil as a rare resource. I'm unclear exactly how mapgen works. My first game (defaults, lost to corrupt save) had no rare resource, my second (with 2x resource mult) had fire ice. Not sure if the multiplier matters or was just coincidence. Regardless, starting planet is usually the only oil.

    Very different build - the others I have seen so far use a priority feedback for hydrogen through a splitter/sorter priotizing the input for XRay and draining the surplus into a tank. Nice.

    Nailed it again! Excellent! I struggled a bit with the direct inserter as it did not allow connection from basic rfinery into the advanced refineries. Eventually I got it with fast inserters (insorters - sorters). Maybe it has to do with the grid. I built close to the pole.

    I was having the refinery take hydrogen off the belt after the output so it was feeding itself but it had a habit of just stopping so opted for a looped belt around the xray refineries using a splitter to prioritise keeping the hydrogen into the loop so only the excess went to cubes.

    I usually just feed the x-ray cracker back into itself for hydrogen. Seems strangely complicated to have refiners feed to one another in pairs.
    Just feels weird to me that you go to all this extra trouble to make sure the belt has the perfect ratio, then you split it up anyway.
    But you did say there are many ways of doing it, and I respect your approach. Thank you!

    Very elegant design. I had a bit of trouble with the logic behind the three back and forth sorters between the two x-ray crackers, you went pretty fast through that part, and unfortunately it’s the only part that wasn’t obviously intuitive, at least for me. Nice build.

    • @madmerlyn
      @madmerlyn 4 года назад +2

      Each cycle on the X-Ray cracking refineries has 3 outputs. You want to push all of the output H into the second X-ray, but you also want to send 1 H back into the first one. It's a self-buffering loop basically. Then when they have built up their internal supplies you have 1 output from each going to your out-belts. Once they're fully running you have exactly 3 outputs running from the first cracker and 2 outputs running from the second cracker, which perfectly balances the input needs of both and drops the surplus onto your belt.

    i used xray cracking around this point in the game. with the amount of hydrogen i was producing, i was just burning it and the refined oil to get rid of excess. was an easy way to get power and not worry about excess oil or hydrogen.

    Love your elegant design for this.. I had done an "ugly" way of separating the crude oil refinement w/ the hydrogen x-ray cracking as 2 separate lines. But, in the future, as you need refined oil for other production, will you end up building separate refineries to produce more refined oil (since right now, all your refined oil is feeding into x-ray cracking)?

    Don't delete the red cube hack... I did like you said here but now I'm building it again in the same place as part of sulfuric acid, so you may as well leave it and reuse it. 😜👍
    PS I had two oil close to each other so I could build the second version while the hack was still working.

    Your tutorials work from delightfully smooth foundations. Could a player play "messy" until getting a big collection of foundations, terraforming the areas, wipe everything else clean, and start fresh? It seems like the starting planet could support that.

    I love how you build things and i got some good ideas from this design (build the oil cracker horizontal from the 2 X-ray :) however, I believe this build must be used jointly with some smelters producing graphite, as you produce 3 hydrogen for only 2 graphite output for each pack of 3 machines. Each machine produces 1 hydrogen whilst only the 2 X-ray crackers produce graphite
