As an autistic person, Knowing that I and others autistic people simply don’t pick up on or display these behavioral indicators and body language cues, All of this is very fascinating for me to watch but seriously makes me very concerned about how an interrogator would read my very odd and probably conflicting body language. All social interaction with strangers (and even with extended family to some extent) is stressful with autism. Especially so in a situation where you have just seen something very horrific and are now being interrogated by somebody who has the power to take you away from everything in life that gives you comfort and security (Plus in this situation you’re probably questioning nick’s involvement in this). Stress levels are basically off the chart. Second problem, A lot of the things this officer has been taught to do to appear LESS threatening to the neuro-typical human brain, are actually pretty threatening and EXTREMELY uncomfortable for autistic people. Namely, getting so close to the person they are questioning. Scooting the chair closer at the start, already uncomfortable, and then leaning in during critical moments, Worst thing you could do, I’ll probably stutter more not less. Your basically being cornered is what it feels like. Some autistic people are also very observant, like me. I might actually notice the mimicking behavior after awhile and while I can’t say for certain if it would make me totally uncomfortable it would definitely be distracting if I did happen to notice. God I hope I never end up in an interrogation room, that would go horribly.
TBH these days a lot of interrogators are more aware of autism and the like, and are better at understanding things like shock or people with strange affect- but yeah, frankly the most important thing is lawyer, lawyer, lawyer
I was thinking the exact same thing. When I go through traumatic or even just bad events my feelings just shut off, I'm completely calm, I don't pick on social clues. Also my memory is shit so I wouldn't remember how things went and if someone starts questioning my statements I'd also star questioning them, mumbling and acting kinda sus. So idk how things would go for me, it's kinda scary
Now imagine having autism AS WELL AS tourettes like me, shit wouldve been even more difficult, especially due to the ticks occuring more frequently the more stressed you are 😭

The thing about trying to make him show remorse is so they can hit him with a harder sentence in court. If they can demonstrate he isn't showing any remorse, that will make his crime appear more severe and his character seem a lot worse so they can put him behind bars longer
“Can’t they take DNA?” Nah, it’s his family and his house. It’d be muddled. Plus, he shot them. He may not have touched the bullets, and could have hid the magazine.
I mean if they found someone else’s prints (ex. one of the friends’) then thats a clear sign its that person otherwise they’d have to continue interrogating/investigating with knowing the other friends are most likely innocent unless they were involved with the murder in some other way
The thing with body language analysis is that a person needs to observe a baseline of behavior before they can accurately analyze for any indications of falsehood. While some of the behaviors in this video can be used to indicate guilt, it's mostly speculative without that baseline.

@@KnightKingu you are constitutionally entitled to a free attorney, might as well use it. You are also entitled to a free public defender if you qualify (low gross income based in my state) but you have to request them 5 days before your court date. Never say a word to the police, even your name. When they say "anything you say can be used against you", they mean it.
No, ask for a telephone call and order pizza, the police have to pay for anything you order as you are their responsibility, you can also play games on the interrogators phone if you get really bored of talking to them.
Here the detective uses a technique called "talking", as a means of both conveying and attaining information; he achieves this using his vocal chords, and knowledge of human language.
26:47 it wouldn’t be wise to use DNA to find out who the murderer is. Assuming the murder weapon is missing, if they swab the inside of the house, they’re just gonna find Nicks DNA anyways, because he lives there. Finding that DNA isn’t a hard thing to come by. Even if they found his friends DNA, there’s an argument to be had that they went over to hangout a few days ago.
9:45 it may be kinda funny to meme in an interrogation, they may get pissed but fuck it "We went up to joe's house at 9:00" "Who's Joe?" "Joe mama" and then you give the cop a straight fucking face stare for a solid minute, apologize and continue with the interrogation
I get that Pyro is taking the piss with the body language stuff like "No duh when a cop tells you you'll go to prison forever you'd be nervous" but then also goes to show the dude is just so relaxed at his family being offed; showing exactly why they explained all the body language stuff in the first place. Side note: when you sign the paper acknowledging your rights you're not signing them away. Any of those boys could have asked for a lawyer, said nothing, and then went about the questions in a different way with a lawyer there. Yeah they put you in a small room and lie a bit but when they're asking you all this stuff you're choosing not to apply your right to remain silent. Nothing they do in this video is illegal or encroaching on any rights whatsoever. (In THIS video. Not that it NEVER happens because when it does it's illegal, immoral, and very much not ok.) Agreed with the kid on the court gamble too weirdly enough. if your options are '99% you go to prison forever' or 'admit you did it and 100% you go to prison forever' you'd wanna take that chance.
They didn't explain the nervous behavior to show contrast with how relaxed the killer was, they told us what the behavior could mean on its own. Picking up the bottle could mean he's hiding something, off beat taps on the table could mean what he's saying is a lie. The nerves analysis just seemed redundant given that they're teenagers in an interrogation room with an officer who said they could be put away for life, that alone would explain the nervous behavior. That's why the relaxed and apathetic demeanor was jarring. Also it varies between states, but interrogators can lull you into a sense of safety to trick you into signing away your right to an attorney, near the beginning when they treat it like it's just some questioning and not that your a suspect.
@@jakeofnotrades13579 Fair points. Cops can be shady as heck sometimes but if you end up signing away your rights at the end of the day it's on you for not reading the fine print and being as cautious as possible considering the situation. (Only if done in a legal way of course.)

FINALLY ! the authorities connected the dots and realized how fishy it was for Prince Philip to have died on Tommy's birthday....I guess that "crush" on the Queen was more severe than people thought
Yeah, no, this is bs. If the Police have a reason to take you into custody for a major offense like mass murder, they can take your DNA without consent. And even if you are only there for a petty crime, the police need to get a "compulsion order" from the judge to be able to take your DNA without your permission. At the point of both situations, they dont need to "sneakily" do it, they just do it.
I've been in an interrogation room before (I wasn't in trouble but I was around someone that did a crime before they did it and they thought I knew something or might know something about his motives) and I can tell you that the lighting for the interrogation rooms are bright like really bright and it's really cold. Cold enough for you to need a jacket but warm enough for you to not freeze. It has no windows and it's big but is designed to look really small and cramped. I didn't have to go through any of the intimidation tactics so I can't speak on that but I do know that after 5 minutes of staying in that room, I wanted to do anything to get out with how trapped and caged you feel.
Honestly I get what Pyro is saying at the end there. This whole time I'm thinking in my head "C'mon man put up a good defense, defend yourself dont just sit there." but at the same time, we've known he was guilty since the start, and even if his father was abusive or parents were strict, you'd also have to factor in his two innocent little brothers, and as the oldest of three that is what kills all empathy I might have for him.
He was probably terrified that the family would think it was him. But now that I think about it if I was in his situation I probably wouldent of killed my other family members.
@@123evilwolf A couple bad apples join the police force and now everyone thinks every cop is incompetent, corrupt and racist. Idiots, those lot are. What were you doing to get arrested? Saying untruths to me will get you locked up for the rest of your life, so you better be truthful. "He lies straight to Nick Bastions face to build rapport, a little hard on him, but this is true technique"
I like to imagine I'm sitting in the room next to the interrogation, watching the whole thing unfold with Pyro and a few detectives. But none of us are talking and he just won't shut the fuck up.
What would DNA prove? That he lived at his own house? They have to put him at the scene of the crime at the time. In most cases, DNA is useful because it proves someone was where they weren't supposed to be. It gets complicated when the murderer lives with the victim.
Imagine being completely innocent, but the police f*ck up and fall victim to confirmation bias. Then two detectives walk into the room and gaslight you into thinking all your friends turned on you. This is a common occurrence here in the US. I think it's partially why in some states there's a not guilty plea, guilty plea, and a no contest plea. The third being not an admission of guilt, but that the accused cannot argue effectively against the evidence. Note that a plea comes BEFORE any evidence is presented. Now maybe the reason No Contest was created is not related to that. BUT, it certainly now exists to be used by gaslighted suspects.

I might actually notice the mimicking behavior after awhile and while I can’t say for certain if it would make me totally uncomfortable it would definitely be distracting if I did happen to notice.
God I hope I never end up in an interrogation room, that would go horribly.

What most people don't understand is that not all subs are built equal. The SM-8 isn't a burner sub. It really is for exploring and surveying Blood Oceans. If they send you down in the Iron Lung. They don't give a damn if you come back. Or if the sub comes back, because it's a pile of garbage and you're a piece of crap. You come back with photos? Great. You sit down there and suffocate, quietly. Even better. But if they send the SM-8 down, one of the scientists is piloting and they all expect them to return. And now the SM-8 is in the Blood Oceans in pieces. No, not "hit a rock" pieces or "sprung a leak" pieces. It look like something tore it up. And the weirdest thing is that nobody else seems surprised. We might have found the first planetary life since the rapture, and they're acting like it's no big deal. Not that it NEVER happens because when it does it's illegal, immoral, and very much not ok.)
Agreed with the kid on the court gamble too weirdly enough. if your options are '99% you go to prison forever' or 'admit you did it and 100% you go to prison forever' you'd wanna take that chance.

Well noted, that would've got me
Yeah, no, this is bs.
