Hi Andres, sure you can use your thumb. I find it rather limiting as using my other fingers opens up possibilities for more interesting fingerpicking patterns. I would encourage you to give it a try...you may prefer it to thumb picking after some practice 😉 There are no rules though, you can do whatever is most comfortable for you. Thanks for the question!
