Played this guitar today at a guitar shop. I didn’t think I’d like it, but wow, that neck is absolutely amazing. Made me feel like a kid again, where all I could think about was getting home and playing. It’s a little steep on the price, but I’m willing to bet it’s worth it.

It's odd that people say these pickups don't sound like standard single coils. I've played the ultra against my American standard strat with single coils and my performer telecaster and think the Ulta pickups are just as good if not better... but you have to compare side by side

I bought a classic vibe anniversary 60s model for $299 great build from Indonesia factory slapped in some custom shop twisted tele pick ups I bought for $125 and the thing is epic compared to what fender was turning out in that era and considering the craftsmanship of todays modern machinery I guarantee you jimmy page and all those guitarists back then would be happy to played mine on stage for sure a tele doesn’t need to be fancy it’s beauty is in its simplicity and though it’s just a squire it’s still a keeper now that being said do I need an ultra2 no I just need to practice more do I want an ultra two heck yes I do !!!!!!!!!

From Fender: While parallel series wiring also featured on Ultra I, the functionality was quite different. “You couldn’t go into series mode unless you were already in the middle position with both pickups on,” he explains. “With Ultra II it doesn’t matter what position the switch is on - you could be on the bridge pickup and when you push that button it automatically activates both pickups and puts them in Series Mode - so it almost operates like a preset. The functionality on Ultra II is a lot more useful.”

It would have been nice if you compared what has been improved in the Ultra II series over the Ultra series. I have the Ultra Tele, which I love, and from my viewpoint, I Don't see enough difference in the series II worth upgrading to it. I love Noiseless pickups. I only play clean and I can't tolerate any 60hz hum.

I wonder how much time on the CnC router it takes for the belly cut, arm cut, and sculpted neck cut? It disappoints me that that these are not offered on the lower end Fenders or even the Squiers. No knocks on the Ultra #2, except that its expensive, but otherwise loaded to the tits with most everything you would want on a Tele. I just dont have the bread for it, but I do have a weird body that needs a comfy axe, and I'd like the ability to buy a lower end body like this FROM Fender/Squier then to methodically upgrade it.

@@jecoboost7775 Allen Abassi (Fender Director of Electric guitars) has explained their rationale in interviews. Jazzmaster is a traditional model. Ultra series is about modern specs. The two things didn't fit well and it wasn't popular. They swapped it out for the Meteora because it's a newer modern shape and they're hoping it fits the Ultra range better and appeals to modern players.
Now maybe he's lying and Jazzmaster was a good fit and a runaway sales success. But I doubt it.

Baby poop green…nice. Seriously, I find this guitar fascinating because I have a similar guitar that has a tele-style body, an ebony fretboard, and noiseless p/u’s (twin humbuckers with coil splitters) which I bought new in 1993. The guitar I’m talking about is a Carvin TL60. You see that was the telecaster I wanted 30 years ago, but Fender didn’t make it yet. But, here it is. I’ll take mine in Texas Tea (dark brown) though. Nice vid.

I actually thought it sounded pretty good - although a lot of that could have been the pedals. But I love the contoured body.

Hmmm... I usually agree with 99 percent of your reviews but not with your review of the ultra ii... especially when it comes to the pickups. Maybe it would help if you played one of these with noiseless pickups next to one with traditional single coils. I do this regularly and I can't tell the difference whatsoever. I played ultra next to my American performer telecaster and my fender American standard custom strat and I didn't hear a difference whatsoever, except very slightly when using the neck pickup for lead playing. I have meant guitars with coil tapping too versus coil splitting, such as my PRS core custom 24... and these noiseless pickups sound much more like traditional single coils in comparison. I actually prefer them to the pickups on both my performer tele and strat... but they all sound great for different things... so hard to really say any are better than the others. I think most of the perceived difference is placebo. And if there is a barely noticeable difference getting rid of the humm is well worth it in my opinion. In regards to the ultra ii... I'd take the ultra one with the binding any day of the week... I don't think the belly carve adds anything... I never noticed that it wasn't there on my ultra...
