I appreciate you just watching the video! I understand its not for everyone, tho I will say that just buying the 1000 cradle/2000 dock and using the OBS method is still pretty cool and is far more simple as you only need the dock and the USB cable. No Raspberry Pi required! And I'm glad it was easy to understand as it was a huge concern for me while making this video, so thanks! ☺
I really wanted someone like this and i had done something similar with an android app but it wasn't as seamless. Thanks so much for this detailed explanation. This will definitely be cheaper then getting a pstv.
First time watcher of your channel and an avid Vita fan here. I'm not going to do this project for the simple fact that I had gotten a PSTV when they first came out. And then I passed on getting a second/third when they went to clearance and fire sale prices. A decision which I still regret to this day. Cuz if my modded PSTV ever dies, I will too. I certainly wish that Sony had done this switch style update to their handheld themselves, but as usual, we had to wait for fans and modders to step up and do it. Sony woulda probably fucked it up anyways (like they did with the PSTV's launch and inexplicable "incompatabilities" of certain games that don't use touch or camera or tilt gimmicks). Excellent video. Step by step process was very clear. Your audio was good. Music choices were on point (though that's subjective, someone out ther might not like Toby Fox's Another Medium or remixed Wii Shop Channel Music, but that's their problem). Great job!
first off , the guild was absolutely easy to follow and well made , even though i use the OBS method i watched tell the end just to see the outcome and 2nd thing i thought they shut down phantasy star and you couldn't play it yet here you are doing just that ! i would love to know how to play it too
I have a steam deck so this would be pretty much pointless for me, but I think something like this existing is really important because it's just yet another way for us to get use out of our ps vita after sony has stopped supporting it, plus if it's your only handheld gaming device then docking it could still be useful for certain games
Still have my original white one from launch i swapped the face buttons with black and left the white PS button looks awesome, and I still have the same dock, I use OBS for full screen, but if you don't have a pc this is one good way to get it on a screen and good on you doing the mod. Yes the mod is worth doing and especially when you connect a ps4 controller.
This is a good thing indeed. I’m not going to make one myself as I already own several Vita TV’s so seems unnecessary but if I didn’t already then would very interested indeed
Maybe will build at some point just to learn about stuff like this; will mostly likely stick to stuff that connects to the PC like my 3DS does (through arctic base)

Great Video! Thanks for this tutorial! I really wanted to play my vita on the tv a while back since playing on the vita for extended period time was causing me discomfort in my hands and eyes, after a lot of searching online I went the obs route which connected my vita to my pc to my tv and a wireless controller, that introduced some lag and wasn't feasible for long. I read about the R.pi route but seemed very complex. Now i see how straightforward it is, I'll definitely do this in the future once I gather the required supplies for this project. Definitely saving this video and will be following your channel for more (I already subscribed through the reddit post haha). And thanks for informing me on the sound, I listened to the video on multiple devices to make sure the sound was just right, so it sounds like it might not be on my part. However, I'll still increase the volume a bit more on future videos. Thanks :)

Demanding games have a half second lag at times even a second or 2 and less demanding games are half second to small stutterings but not an issue as most games already have a slight lag on vita you fix this with a bit of over clocking.
Thanks for the sub! I truly appreciate it! Glad to hear people willing to give it a try as its not complicated and only takes maybe an hour or 2 at the most! Definitely perfect for a Friday night or weekend project. Thanks! 😁
From what I noticed its either non-existent or so small you'd never be able to notice it. If you have a PC and OBS you can connect it that way and test for yourself. I'm using a Dualshock 4 over Bluetooth and audio over Bluetooth and haven't noticed any lag yet.
there's a much, much better way to do all this, only requiring to plug your vita into your computer and using the same plugins he mentioned... you can even pull up your vita screen in VLC/MPC. If memory serves, the plugin even has a configuration to allow higher resolution output (through an ingame menu no less, via a button combination). I used it while playing the PSPo 2 Infinite and Phantasy Star Nova.
I didn't have an upscaler at the time I made this video, But I do believe MetalJesusRocks made a video about the PSTV and upscaling using an MClassic. I'll still keep your suggestion in mind for future video's tho! Thanks! 😀

Is the latency associated with vita docks still rough? I remember it being quite noticable on the Vita Dock I built back in 2020 using a repurposed raspberry pi 3. The colours and blending were also not accurate. Doesn't help that my OLED vita had such a lovely screen to begin with tbf😂 I mean, I still used it for my first playthrough of Persona 4 Golden, but I know it wasn't 100% optimised. I even noticed input latency rear its ugly head during the bug catching minigame.
They added 3 new updates since 2020 and its improved alot! I personally haven't noticed latency while playing.Trust me if it was a laggy mess I wouldn't even bother making a video on it. Its 100% playable to the point I can recommend it to anyone. Its on par with just connecting to a pc over obs. So you can test that way if you'd like and you'll likely get the same results. As for color its hard to tell. I don't have an oled monitor yet so the color temperature compared to the oled vita are much different. The oled is much warmer while my monitor is more cool. Could be as simple as picking a different color profile. Once I can get an oled monitor I bet the colors look far more similar than we might realize 😅
