Giving QBs big contracts sometimes seems to ruin them, Tom Brady kept his demands modest and Mahomes, who deserves the most, doesn't push the limit. DeShaun got a huge contract and got hurt. Russell Wilson got a huge contract and had a horrid season. Both Burrow and Herbert got huge contracts and right away got hurt and missed the season.
So Herbert got a contract on his physical measures and his rookie year? And the media really thinks Tua is going to get less than that!? Lol. Meanwhile, the media knows the QB market only to goes UP! These articles just stories at this point 😅
The same people who say Tua hasn't won anything, have no problem with Herbert getting paid. What has Herbert won? He blew a 27 pt. lead against the Jags 2 years ago. He's also injured every year.
"he didn't need protection he needed speed"...NO, HE ALSO NEEDS PROTECTION. wtf, Tua's gonna die. "The 2.5 seconds or less is his game"...this is FORCED because he doesn't have protection, and is one of the reasons why the offense struggled at the end of the year. I expect the front office to low-ball Tua, and as a result poison the well so that he leaves just like they did with Robert Hunt and Christian Wilkins. "He earned free agency"...no Grier you low balled them before the season, they said "no I'll play on the last year of my contract and then leave because your cheap ass won't pay what I have earned and deserve", and instead Grier will go sign some below average replacement and think it's just as good when those guys(like Eli Apple) are getting scorched on every single play.
Tua should be requesting that contract. He's handsome and has charisma. He can live on endorsement money. If he leaves as much $ as possible to reinforce roster, he just might be able to crawl out of the little box McD has him in. Become a smash-mouth rushing team with Tua working off that. I would be incredibly impressed to see Tua act with such maturity. If our O line can easily provide Tua 2.5 seconds, Odell Beckham might blow TF up. If the Tennessee RB becomes option 1 on offense by week 6 or 7 we just might have something to believe in. Move Jaelen Phillips to ILB uon his return.
Comment of the day: What do you feel are the percentages are for this to be Tyreek's final season with the Dolphins? They have yet to extend him, and drafted two similar type receivers in the draft. Do you see a 2025 season with Waddle WR1, OBJ WR2, and the Washington "Brothers" WR 3+4?
That’s one of my things when people are saying that they want to get rid of Tua. I’m like man this kid is easily the best we have had since Mario and we’ve had like 25 in that time frame. If we got rid of Tua who the heck would they suggest we replace him with. Franchise quarterbacks don’t grow on trees.
ALL NFL starting QBs should be on Incentive laden contracts with their league-wide base pay low enough to not kill a team's ability to keep/get quality players

This feels like a gigantic mistake and after 40 plus years of following the Fins it could become worthless. Tie his contract to playoff wins and I’ll be willing to join the bandwagon
I would put in his contract a bunch incentive that way he has to perform. One for yards one for winning playoff games and another one for winning a Super Bowl that way you motivate him.

This whole Tua sitting out, is showing his real character. At the end of the day Tua will never be Tom Brady, as much as I hated Brady, I respect the fact that he loved winning and his organization so much he was willing to always play on team friendly deals. My thought of the day, Ross needs to buy a car dealership and a hotel or food joint, and higher Tua as his spokes person or talk to one of his South Beach friends do that. You take the incentive contract and friends of Dolphins will take care of you. NIL money baby. 10 million comes from advertising and I take a home team discount that is state tax free. No rules on add deals I dont think.
My position on QBs (and it goes much the same for every other position as well outside of RB, FB, K, P, and depth guys) has always been that they should take fully-guaranteed contracts at less money so the team can go get more guys to surround him with and have a better shot at winning games. Throwing incentives in is a good idea to supplement and give an incentive to guys, and at least from what I understand, ones deemed "not likely to happen" don't hit the Cap. So I guess a GM could have a $50m incentive to win the Super Bowl and it wouldn't count against the Cap(?). With Tua specifically though, there's literally nothing that could happen that wouldn't have the mindless haters bitch and moan.
